RM coaches this absolutely pointless style of football. It's mind numbingly boring to watch and creates just about nothing.

There was one moment at the end of the half where Ugochukwu played a very nice quick pass around the corner to set up a chance for Cornet. I bet RM was fuming he didn't play the way he was facing.

Why did the club think his brand of anti football is the answer? Cheap I guess

You have to smile. Reading this thread you would think that we are absolutely dire. Reading the Grand Old Team match thread and they think we are showing them how to play football 🤔

We are absolutely dire.

It doesn't fit our fans narrative. The jealousy of Russell Martin by our own fans is so funny.

Martin will be pleased with the possession, and the spell of control before the break. But efforts were about the same, and like a lot of games our opponents ones were the more exciting ones.  We had a couple of headers after our PB build up. Cornet had a run but hit over.

We look a bit disjointed. AA made runs but we don't risk over the top balls. He came deep, but either had no one to pass forward to himself, or played it back.

We seem incapable of having Aribo be a focal for AA and/ or Fraser to work off. Cornet had a few bright moments. Lallana had a few more. But no one consistently enough to be controlling the game.

Alex was never going to be able to control the cross, that led to their goal. Wood, who had a few shaky moments, had moved off the post.

There were a couple of moments where we lost the ball needlessly. Wood's being the most noticeable being further back.

Another 45 looking for the passes to result in more chances.

This is an Everton side in dire straits, extremely low on confidence and instead of going for it we are passing it around on the edge of our own box creating very little indeed.

And he's proud of it too! Even when it works it's a shocking watch.

It's no better than lump it forward football and at least that has a chance of a goal or two

There's still no points for artistic impression.

He’s quick, pace isn’t the issue, it’s the first touch and the ability to bounce off challenges and nudges.

He isn't particularly quick. He has short legs and a high frequency stride pattern that gives the illusion that he's fast, but it's deceptive.

Lallana off for Fernandes, what was the point in using him in this game?

Yep, doesn't make much sense on the surface. Need to 'spend' all his available minutes on games that matter IMO.

Has anyone fathomed out yet why Stewart isn't getting much needed game time...?

He said at the presser he would be coming off the bench, I guess to ease him in... 20 minutes here and there to become the new 2 weeks away.

Decent start from us. Controlled, but getting into better attacking positions.

No, we're shit, we're always shit, all because our Manager is young, has a philosophy they just can't understand, and is banging Lucy Pinder.

Les definitely has something about him. Once he settles in him, Downes and Fernandes could be a decent midfield. Lallana has looked quite tidy so far too. I said Smallbone earned his chance this year but already he's drooped down to 5th if not 6th choice.

Smallbone and 'drooping down' in the same sentence?!

It’s not, we’re 1-1 away to a PL team and playing well enough whilst still lacking a cutting edge. This performance is far better than our cup trips to Sheff Utd and Sunderland under Poch and Koeman, for example.
