davefizzy14 Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 (edited) Yes! Get in 😊 into the next round. All our penalties were clinical. Edited 17 September, 2024 by davefizzy14 1
sandwichsaint Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Good old RM, he let the lads sort it out themselves.
Sheaf Saint Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Poor Ashley Young. Never nice being the one that misses the critical pen in a shootout. It's lucky for him the Everton fans don't already despise him, eh? 5
Mr X Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 We won a game of football that's not our style
The Kraken Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Well done Saints. Cant help thinking the pens from either side were only ok and the keeper just went the wrong way most times! Not gonna complain though, happy we won that.

Saint_clark Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Not sure who did our research for their penalty takers as McCarthy had his mind made up early and went the wrong way almost every time. Great save though made up for him. Loved Brees penalty too, calm as anything.

Harry_SFC Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Easily the two worst teams in the league. 3

benjii Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Shame one of those wasn't on the pitch when we got the pen on Saturday.... oh.
CB Fry Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 We had a strong 6 takers then. I didn't doubt any of them, except maybe Stewart. Well done lads. 2
saintant Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Very good penalties from our lads and a crucial save from McCarthy who finally guessed the right way. 1
OnceaSaintalwaysaSaint Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Didn't see that coming. Six great penalties. Now for the league.

Whitey Grandad Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 The Carabao Cup fourth round draw will take place on Wednesday, September 25 after Liverpool's game against West Ham. That third round tie kicks-off at 8pm UK time.
beatlesaint Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 I don’t know why RM was giving it large in front the away fans, they were there for the taking and we just wandered around doing fuck all the last half hour 2

Dr. Kucho Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Got home just in time to see the penalties. Our penalties were well taken and let’s hope we can bring these winning vibes on to the next match. 1

The Kraken Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Just watched the replay and AMC looks to quite a bit off his line with both feet when Young strikes it. 1

northam soul Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Not sure why Adam Armstrong didn’t get a start today. Oh apparently he did.
obelisk Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Quite a controlled game from Saints but hardly ever looked dangerous despite all the possession. Need to find some way of creating decent chances. 1

Saint NL Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 I thought THBs penalty was the best of the lot. Glad they did away with extra time and it went straight to pens 1

Be even better if they just booted the European teams out of it altogether to stop their whining for good. 4

It wasn’t an all time classic but if you can’t enjoy that result, Saints really aren’t the club for you. Them being ‘there for the taking’ was largely a result of our game plan being effective and nullifying theirs, that’s not something you can just take for granted. For all the snorting and sneering at our possession stats, when we get it right we go to places like Goodison, silence the crowd and get a result. 12
Killers Knee Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Crikey, that was one boring match. Two teams devoid of any attacking threat laying powder puff pillow hands on each other. Snooze-fest. 6
Thripp87 Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 We do have some good penalty takers after all.
OttawaSaint Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Bloody hell, a team full of penalty experts and we pick the one guy who isn't for our crucial kick vs Man U. So Saintsy! 1
Baird of the land Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Only positive from the game is the result.
Convict Colony Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Any update on how the dugouts looked, still old and world famous?

Gloucester Saint Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Nice to enjoy a rare win up there, did we win on penalties there under Ralph as well? Some positives there - Bree played well, Stewart minutes and decent penalty, Lallana good cameo, Lesley played well. BBD looked dangerous when he actually got into central positions. Good goal for THB although both defences were ropey overall.
OnceaSaintalwaysaSaint Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 And that will do the squad's confidence a lot of good going in to Saturday. Forgotten how crap the game was already. We're on a roll.

ButtikonSaint Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 second string did orite... I'd take a win any day and I'm sure it will lift the squad's spirit for Saturday. TBH, Fernandes and Bree my picks... COYS 2
Saint Matty 76 Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 Sure it's been said but very funny to score seven pens in a row after missing one that actually mattered on the weekend
CB Fry Posted 17 September, 2024 Posted 17 September, 2024 I see the rest of the matches are next Weds. So a more than a week before the draw. 2

Who’d care about winning a cup when the best team in it was someone like West Ham or Brighton. We’re well rid of extra time, especially for midweek games. Who wants a game like that dragging on until 2230, followed by a traffic jam and a four hour drive? 1
