My point is, regardless of formation, we'll still be pissing around with it at the back & we'll still be toothless in attack. Our style of play (which is the main issue) will still remain

The best option is too leave early and grab a bus, second is hire a scooter from one of the ranks or thirdly walk it in 45 mins

Would imagine he’ll throw Smallbone, Aribo and Armstrong all back in for this game. Also will give a few of the guys who did well vs Cardiff an opportunity too.

Aribo - Ugochukwu - Smallbone
Taylor - ABK - THB - Bree

Why do McCarthy, Aribo and Smallbone need any more game time? They've already played most of the games this season, and been found wanting. Ramsdale has only played once, and Amo-Ameyaw and Stewart need starts too. They are players a game like this would be ideal for to see what they can do.

Agree. Much prefer to see Sam AA play and I didn't appreciate Ross Stewart was match fit until seeing him play a lot of the second half against Man U, so he needs more game time. In midfield Les needs more game time too.

I don't disagree by the way, this was just my prediction.

Based on how devastated RM has said he's been to leave these guys out the squad, he's not going to completely give up on them yet. I'd play SAA as well, but I doubt Stewart is ready to start yet.

RM's already said Stewart's not ready to start, but he plans to bring him on during the game.

ABK is never coming back into the fold then.

Also don't agree with Wood being ahead of Edwards in the pecking order as he's looked shite whenever I've seen him.

Let's hope Cornet looks a bit more impactful than his sub appearance. I wouldn't be wasting minutes on Fraser instead of Amo-Ameyaw at this point either.

Buses leave from Walton Lane, essentially the main road back to the city centre. I normally walk it as I hate being on the same bus as gloating scousers, but I walked here and I am knackered (and old) so will probably get the bus back.

Seems like a solid approach to take ahead of the Ipswich game. Momentum and confidence is overrated anyway.

ABK is clearly our best CB in terms of raw ability. If we keep conceding goals at the back we'll be forced to bring him in to the fold, likely once Martin is given the sack

Edwards and ABK should both be playing ahead of Wood.

SAA will be off next Summer just like Meghoma. Why is Fraser playing ahead of him?

You can say all you want about concentrating on the league, but they've got until Saturday before we play next. 

Given the number of new players in our league starting lineup, wouldn't it make more sense to put out a team closer to that, in order to give them bonus time to gel?

This seems the worst of both worlds, i.e. the likes of SAA are missing valuable game time whilst we're not learning anything of tangible value for the rest of the season.

I'd have gone with the back two that I'd also pick to start against Ipswich. Give them a match in a lower pressure environment against Everton in the cup to allow them to get their partnership/cohesion back (If it's THB & Bednarek), or start building their partnership (If it's ABK & Bednarek). Centre-backs should also be able to start 2 or 3 games a week, especially after a two week break.

But, that isn't the centre-back duo that's going to start against Ipswich. At least I hope it isn't...

Not playing ABK or Onuachu may come back to bite us. If you want to sell ABK then surely prove he's fit by playing him? If you want to sell Onuachu then maybe a few goals at a decent level will help?

Think RM is worried that if he picks Onuachu and he scores a couple of goals he might be obliged to start him in a league game

Benarek will have been knackered Saturday lunchtime - not a long period to recover for this game, and hence would be risking injury.

An injury to Bednarek, and Stephens suspended wouldn't be ideal against Ipswich & Bournemouth.

This is the thing. Onuachu has scored goals and has a good record everywhere apart from us. 17 goals in 25 in the league in Turkey just last season is good. There would be some team in the world who think they can get him in and scoring with us netting around £10m for him.

But, because it's clear we don't want him and he's frozen out, club's are only willing to offer us measly fees.

Maybe SR have kept ABK and Onuachu for a reason? Just thinking ahead if results dont go well ,

Just don’t get it. Even if we’re determined to get rid wouldn’t it make sense to play him esp in games like this to put him back in the shop window? That’s before you take into consideration he’s transparently obviously better than at leat some of those being played in preference.

His record in Turkey is comparable (I think slightly worse) to Cenk Tosun. The fact that he’s not getting a chance and nobody came in with a serious bid probably says something about him as a PL player. In any case, it’s clear that neither he nor ABK will be in our plans by default this season, just because we failed to sell them.

Then really we should have accepted Trabzonspors €8m offer for Onuachu. Rather than keeping an unhappy player who is never going to get a chance.

Yep I have no idea what's going on with this line up either, unless only to serve to prove once again that AA can't play as a number 9.

 

ABK should have started as should Stewart if actually fit.

He's Martin's mate, that's why he's in. Wood has looked awful every time he's played - makes Lyanco look like Van Dijk.

Hopefully it's Cornet. He played upfront for Burnley and looked pretty good. We know AA is a better player on the right.
