Lighthouse Posted 28 August, 2024 Posted 28 August, 2024 Draw at 2215 tonight supposedly, after the Newcastle - NF game.
SaintNewForest Posted 28 August, 2024 Posted 28 August, 2024 Didn't realise the next round is seeded. All the European teams are being kept apart.

CSA96 Posted 28 August, 2024 Posted 28 August, 2024 London away please. AFC Wimbledon or Leyton Orient preferable 1

Pathetic and shameful if true. Another ridiculous advantage to those with the biggest squads. Part of the excitement of any cup is when some of the big guns go out and the draw opens up for smaller clubs in lower divisions. 9

Just saying it is to with eliminating European fixture congestion not seeding them for sake of it

Colinjb Posted 28 August, 2024 Posted 28 August, 2024 (edited) That's annoying. But, a chance to gauge our second team against a relegation rival. Edited 28 August, 2024 by Colinjb
Lighthouse Posted 28 August, 2024 Author Posted 28 August, 2024 F*ck off! Away to f*cking Everton again. FFS! Liverpool vs West Ham the pick of the draw there.

LGTL Posted 28 August, 2024 Posted 28 August, 2024 FFS what a shocker of a draw. The fucking dugout inventors. 1
Sheaf Saint Posted 28 August, 2024 Posted 28 August, 2024 That's a disappointing draw. But we won last time we played there though.
The Kraken Posted 28 August, 2024 Posted 28 August, 2024 What an absolutely wank way of doing the draw. Basically seeded so the big teams can’t draw each other. Fuck off. 6
bpsaint Posted 28 August, 2024 Posted 28 August, 2024 Shite. As soon as Everton came out you just knew we were next 1 1

LGTL Posted 28 August, 2024 Posted 28 August, 2024 (edited) That pre draw is such a joke. Supposedly due to the new European format meaning they’d be unable to play each other. No doubt the EFL were only too delighted to accommodate keeping them all apart. They now get a bye, a 4/6 chance of being at home, and get to all avoid each other. Who says football isn’t what it was eh? Edited 28 August, 2024 by LGTL 9

sfc4prem Posted 28 August, 2024 Posted 28 August, 2024 Least we get an extra chance this year to sit in the world-renowned dugouts of Goodison.
S-Clarke Posted 28 August, 2024 Posted 28 August, 2024 We get two attempts to say a final farewell to the Goodison dugouts this season. We should thank ourselves lucky. 1 1
SNSUN Posted 28 August, 2024 Posted 28 August, 2024 This competition is not a priority so another chance for the kids to shine. Winnable. 1

spyinthesky Posted 29 August, 2024 Posted 29 August, 2024 Should be a decent size crowd, I think Everton's game against Doncaster was almost a sell out Presumably the home fans want to be able to enjoy the 'Goodison' experience before moving to their new stadium. Dont think that we would take more than a 1,000 to the game
sadoldgit Posted 29 August, 2024 Posted 29 August, 2024 We can beat Everton but I would prefer to see more of the 1st team start next time.

Turkish Posted 29 August, 2024 Posted 29 August, 2024 what a farce that draw is. Seeded so top teams cant play each other, what a joke

The same fixture congestion that isn't even a debate when these clubs fuck off to Australia for friendlies the week after the season has finished. 1

Yep, plus most of them play a B team until the semi finals anyway. Absolute disgrace really. 2

And that is exactly the point. Even if there was only 24 hrs between the fixtures, so what. We have just played Cardiff and both sides made 11 changes, top teams have more than enough in their squads to be able to do exactly the same, and still be competitive. Either that or bow out of the competition altogether, either way we shouldn't be pandering to the top teams, but unfortunately, money talks. 1

Supposedly to reduce fixture congestion but more probably to suit the TV coverage so that they can have more games. That’s also probably the reason that the kickoff time hasn’t been fixed yet.

Saints would prefer the 2nd week with blank weekend following but I think we'll be first week (17th or 18th) Liverpool will need to be home week 2 as they play champions league in week 1 and they won't have Liverpool and Everton at home same week. 1
Pamplemousse Posted 2 September, 2024 Posted 2 September, 2024 Everton have confirmed ticket prices (assume it will be the same for us, plus the £1.50 ticket tax) Adults (18-64): £25 65+: £20 Under-18: £5 https://www.evertonfc.com/news/2024/september/02/carabao-cup-ticket-news--everton-v-southampton/
Saint Fan CaM Posted 3 September, 2024 Posted 3 September, 2024 Holds little interest for me now thanks to the corrupt nature of the draw and the likely uninspiring team selection RM will make. Manning and Stephens to start anyone?
