Yet there were some on here last week saying that he was over-rated and a waste of money....

that save was good ,but equally that misjudged error nearly cost us when he came for a ball and i think Harrison just nicked infront and sent it just wide, just saying.

Im not so sure. If he wasn't so far out, Harrison takes a touch and a free shot perhaps...

Think when you are a keeper in that position you need to make a split second decison. You could say that had he stayed on his line, Harrison would have scored. The fact that he came bulldozing off his line, may have just put him off.

....has been playing better than some scorelines might suggest.   A clean sheet this time, and one up for him on Pickford.

Best performance issues;  a clean sheet for the goalkeeper and a goal for a striker...then everyone is happy.

Harwood-Bellis, Ramsdale, Jones & Hall called up to England squad

Well done THB and RAMSDALE!!

Excellent. Well done to them. Shame it's an outgoing coach, but gives them a chance to impress.

Absolute quality. Only have him, Fernandes and Dibling that wouldn’t look out of place at a top6 club.

+ THB makes four. We've got the potential for a good team and when Mr Ramsdale makes saves like he did on Saturday, we've still got a chance of staying up. He was brilliant on Saturday. One of the best goalkeeping displays I've seen from a saints keeper.

Shame he’ll miss out on the England squad but won’t really effect our results just means our possession will be slightly lower as Macca is worse with his feet

At least it's McCarthy coming in and not Bazunu. I know he's not great but he can at least make a few saves.

Hopefully Martin will be a bit more pragmatic and we'll be forced to kick it long. May not be a bad thing against high-pressing teams we're coming up against.

Is it just me but find Rambos distribution is pretty poor. You can see why Arteta got someone else in. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great keeper, too good for us but struggling with Martins style - but I guess he’s not alone there.

His distribution is better than McCarthy's (hard not to be) but I agree it isn't great.

Here’s an idea, play him as a goalkeeper rather than someone who is supposed to be like Ronald Koeman on the ball.

More “Russ - I want to suck off Pep” football.

I think we're all struggling with Martin's style....

You want the players who are the worst with the ball to see the most of it. It's the only way they'll get better. The players who are good on the ball have already had their turn. Common sense.

Not so sure

I'd have Bazinu over McCarthy but it's a tough call

That article reads as though we shall loan-out GB in January and get him back in the summer for pre-season before starting next season with him as our number1.  Yet another fine mess we’re in, then.

Bazunu can't play for us (in the PL) until January at the earliest, he is not in the registered 25 man squad. It says this in the link you posted.

Ironic that Rambo has a fracture, given we didn't sign the Dutch guy in the Summer because of his injury record with regard to fractures. Would suggest it wouldn't have been as much of a risk as thought.

Ramsdale has broken a finger (we don't know which one, nor how long it sidelines him for) and doesn't seem to have a track record of it from my basic knowledge, the other guy had broken a wrist twice, in two separate seasons. And has an injury record as long as a weekly shopping list. I'm not sure the risk is comparable

Ah well, it makes no difference to our relegation certainty but means we are likely to concede more goals and prejudice our target of obtaining 15 points.

I dislocated two fingers playing the soccer ball game and was told a dislocation took more time to heal than a fracture but, of course, I was treated by the NHS not by specialists that the club pay for.

We don't need specialists. Russell Martin have sprinkled some activated quinoa on Ramsdale's fracture. It'll heal up in no time.

I know Bijlow is their number 2, but he has played one game this season, incidentally he has been injured since, missing Feyenoords next 3 fixtures (so far)

News on Ramsdale's finger injury has gone quiet, or have I missed something? Is it confirmed as broken? Did he have an operation on it last Wednesday?

Employed as a pundit for TNT today.

I get he’s injured and can’t play, but surely be amongst the squad rather than use the opportunity to platform your media career

Was laughing his head off with Crouchie  & Cole too, not a great look when we just got beat 5-0 at home

What a fucking mess

I still like Ramsdale but it was a completely pointless signing in hindsight. Will likely make our money back in the summer and will possibly never even remember he played for us in a few years time.

Feel sorry for him.

We should let him go in Jan tbh. It will make us even worse but watching a keeper this good behind this defence makes me genuinely sad

If he went would clear the way for the return of Irelands No 2 and if there was ever a signing that summed up the SR era it’s Bazanu

I think most people agreed signing him and throwing him into the first team was madness. I know some loons pointed to the fact he'd played for Ireland a few times and one of them was against Portugal but anyone could see depending on a young keeper who'd never played above league one level was mental.

That phrase is all too common these past few seasons. 🙁

It wasn't completely pointless, signing a top 6 quality goalkeeper was a real coup for us. The bigger issue was we neglected to upgrade our defenders from last season and RM's suicidal style destroyed our season before the 1st January

Yes, really we needed 3 more signings of his stature, defender, midfielder and striker, that would have raised the whole team and given us a chance

The Newcastle rumour seems to be sticking a bit, but I can’t see him going until the summer. There’s been no news coming out of the club about Bazunu for months now and I’m wondering if the injury and/or recovery is much worse than originally expected. What does that leave us with? McCarthy - as no.1 what does it matter…we’re dead anyway. But what about a decent no.2 / 3?
