Has the Chelsea lad signed on loan yet?

Bit worrying that nothing official has been declared since his medical was scheduled for this morning.  Has he had a change of mind or have we been gazumped by another club?

A timely post!

Considering I'd never heard of the guy about 24 hours ago, I have to admit I'm excited by this Lesley signing.

He sounds exactly what we need, plus it might enable Shea to go out on loan and get some game time as well.

Welcome aboard.

Quality word gazumped. You get a like just for that.

Welcome big Les. Feels like there is a solid option for a double pivot now which would really help shore us up when needed.

GK and a quiality AM and we can compete to stay in this league.

Looks like we can bring these chants back then!

”He’s magic you know… Lesley Ugo-chuk-woahh!”

”Follow follow follow, we’re the best team on the south coast… we play in red and white, we’re fucking dynamite and we got Ugo-chuk-woahhh!

From his interview he speaks very good English and comes across as very focused and confident.

Everything read about him suggests he is a top prospect so could be a very clever loan deal with potential to benefit all three parties.

Think he'll take Aribo's place in the team, which is needed and yeah, could throwback to the days of having Schneiderlin/Wanyama protecting the defence with Downes and Ugochukwu instead.

Unfortunately, the previous Les didn't believe in loaning players without an option to buy, but the loan market is definitely one where we can get players who are too good for us and all the noise around this bloke is that he is. If he helps keep us up, he earns us millions.

Yes. Very good. Watched him in all pre season and looks big and strong with skills. Good deal.

Comment above from a Chelsea supporting mate when I asked if he was any good.

Yeah I think loan signings are going to play an more and more influential role in teams who are wanting to avoid the drop. With FFP and the like it's a shrewd business decision and smart for sustainability.

2 in by the Newcastle game... tick!

Pleased by this, and by the 3284 different variations of his name that we will see on Saintsweb over the next 12 months. 😄

Hopefully this frees Charles up to move to Celtic on loan which means....

The thread about the most excited you've been about a signing - in this case, a loan signing and very recent.   This lad has increased my confidence levels that Saints can stay up this season!    No pressure Lesley.

Is he eligible for the game tomorrow? I'm guessing by the late announcement probably not.......

Almost certainly not but even if he were I don't think you could justify playing him. He's not like a striker that you could throw on for 20 minutes to try to bag a goal.

Worth pointing out that this is exactly how we should use the loan system. It allows us to procure a higher quality of player that we would never be able to afford permenently. Also taking advantage of Chelsea and their ridiculously large squad.

Welcome Lesley. I brings me calmness that we have more debth in our central midfield now. He seems like a - primarily - defensive midfielder, but I hope he has great athleticism and ability to learn fast -> can adapt quickly to our system and run from box to box.
As Alfie House said on Twitter (didn't he?): "Good loan signing".

Now we await the news of a new, good PL keeper. Then there is light ahead and genuine hope for a good season with us comfortably ending in top 17 as I see it 🌞

This guy is a talent. Only need to check CFC comments. He’s been cooking on his appearances
As was Archer,this pre season.

Really useful to have had both them playing and doing well for Villa & Chelsea respectively.

Had a good pre-season according to some Chelsea supporting mates. Exciting. Shame no option to sign.

Yes ....but  if there was an option ..he cost 23 million (?) when signed, and even if Chelsea were to let him go....

I'm sure they would want to recoup their original  investment .....

Very funny

my alternative suggestion is to adapt vindaloo by fat Les. It’s got one too many syllables but I’m sure we can squeeze it in
