Yeah was low down on list of preferred away draws, although always feels a bit special crossing the border and some good pubs in Cardiff for those arriving early enough. Being in a bank holiday week and still the school holidays we might take a few more who wouldn't have otherwise gone. Leaving it a bit late to get the tickets on sale and posted out

It's not the best if we want to try out some fringe players and youngsters but they did get spanked on Saturday so there's that. Not that Sunderland and Burnley was an easy start for them, but still...

We in fact had consecutive season promotions. May 2011 we were promoted to the Championship and in May 2012 we were promoted again to the Premier League we didn't play Portsmouth again until the 2019 League Cup game at Fratton Park, I think 4-0 to us. We subsequently played Manchester City in our first Premier League match in August 2012. They might have saved themselves but they were soon relegated twice and it's taken them something like another ten years to get to the Championship. If I was them I would be keeping quiet. I'm glad we've avoided them this year and hoping that's the way it'll stay. Whoosh! 😀 1
EssEffCee Posted 20 August, 2024 Posted 20 August, 2024 Anyone driving to this from Soton and interested in a paying passenger?
TheAlehouseBrawlers Posted 20 August, 2024 Posted 20 August, 2024 Guess we could see Lesley, Fernandes, Dibling, AA, oh and...cough...Stewart and Lallana get a run out in this. Cardiff play at Swansea on Sunday so their focus should mostly be on that. Having said that, apparently Cardiff are struggling to sell their allocation of 1700 tickets, only around half sold for their big local derby, maybe they see playing our reserves as the bigger game.

Is it a bubble trip to Swansea? No doubting what you're saying but would have thought they'd be massive demand. For their game v Saints in carabao Cup they've only opened lower tier side stand for home fans so not expecting many!
spyinthesky Posted 21 August, 2024 Posted 21 August, 2024 Possible team for Cardiff 1. Lumley (or McCarthy if new 'keeper signed 2. Bree 3. Manning Taylor 4. Ugochukwu 5. Wood Stephens 6. Edwards 7. Amo Ameyaw Armstrong 8. Fernandes 9. Alcarez (as a false 9) Archer 10. Dibling Smallbone/Aribo 11. Edioze BBD On paper a reasonable side to beat a Cardiff side who have not started the season well. However Cardiff will be well motivated to put this right and the proposed line up has not played together before and mixed personnel team performances pre season and at Gillingham last year indicates that it may be a step too far. However remember us going down to Newport in the recent past with a team that included a few squad players like Elyounoussi and winning 7-0.
