The Cat Posted 28 September, 2024 Posted 28 September, 2024 Some Sholing kids were throwing chips at the Havant fans and then one of them threw some beer over the kids
Bad Wolf Posted 28 September, 2024 Posted 28 September, 2024 Palmer becomes first player in PL history to score 4 in one half, Pompey holding Sheff Utd, Leicester pull one back at Arsenal, Everton winning...
Lighthouse Posted 28 September, 2024 Author Posted 28 September, 2024 19 minutes, and here we are discussing which of our strikers is the best bet to score four goals in a season. 1 1

Disco Stu Posted 28 September, 2024 Posted 28 September, 2024 Looking like another poor weekend of results.
The Cat Posted 28 September, 2024 Posted 28 September, 2024 5-1 to Sholing over Havant. Could have easily scored more. Hampshire non league is red and white. 5
vectraman Posted 28 September, 2024 Posted 28 September, 2024 Wolves playing the Saints game of ever decreasing circles playing out from the back. I really can’t see how the rewards with this system outweigh the risks…. Unless you’re City or Arsenal and have the top players to play the system. Everyone else are copycat losers at it… 3

saintant Posted 28 September, 2024 Posted 28 September, 2024 Wolves looking like a slightly better version of us with many of our failings evident in their play. 1

In fact Havant were very poor on the day. Hesketh is so good at that level. His touch and technique is way above most other players in the league. I really enjoy watching him play. MLT was there today, stopped and chatted to everyone who wanted to and had photos taken even with some Havant fans. 1
The Cat Posted 28 September, 2024 Posted 28 September, 2024 Wolves haven't kept a clean sheet in the league since January haha.
saintant Posted 28 September, 2024 Posted 28 September, 2024 Don't always like him as a pundit but Gary Neville talking a lot of sense in criticising lower half teams who continually try to play out from the back. He doesn't get it nor do many of us. 4

As the newspaper I read said: [Wolves] "They pass the ball around at the back for 30 seconds or so, prompting Gary Neville to go on a rant about their lack of urgency." Sounds familiar..

I can't recall his medical/injury situation and his employment, but it does seem a bit of a waste. 1
bangkoksaint Posted 28 September, 2024 Posted 28 September, 2024 Gary Neville has pretty much summed up everything that is wrong with how football is played currently. Our manager exacerbates this by never appearing to deviate from this possession style and that if it doesn’t work to just continue with but to try harder. I for one am fed up with it. 4

He got a bad injury at Saints on his first start at Burnley so maybe that restricts his fitness a bit. Someone like Salisbury might come in for him at some point I guess. 1

Colinjb Posted 28 September, 2024 Posted 28 September, 2024 Brighton's high line was suicidal v Chelsea. Shades of Hassenhutl v Spurs.
AlexLaw76 Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 Just watching MOTD. Firstly, most teams seem to be giving up glorious chances when cocking up playing out from the back. Secondly, Cole Palmer is ridiculous.

When I saw Palmer had scored four goals in 19 minutes, I didn't realise he'd also hit the post and had one disallowed for a tight offside. Not to mention the other one they had disallowed for (I think) Jackson. That line would work if you were defending against Grant Holt and Matt Le Tissier but against Chelsea's attack it was just weird.

There were 5 minutes left of the game and wolves spent a minute just passing it between the defence and GK. Every average club is trying to play like Man City but without the quality to do so and it’s really killing the enjoyment of watching a game. 5

Midfield_General Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 Ipswich 1-0 up. Delap. Poor from Martinez, should have stopped it.
Disco Stu Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 Ipswich with an early goal against Villa. Delap.
Midfield_General Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 (edited) 1-1. Hilarious defending. Edited 29 September, 2024 by Midfield_General
Disco Stu Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 Shocking clearance from Ipswich. Took the unnecessary risk of hitting the ball across his box instead of out for a throw. Gifted it straight to a Villa player.
Midfield_General Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 Great cross, proper striker’s header from Watkins. Good goal. 2-1 Villa.
Disco Stu Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 Hopefully Villa can hold on now. Ipswich have looked good but for some defensive naivety.
Disco Stu Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 Ipswich back on the ascenancy. They're so direct when they attack. Looking very dangerous.
Disco Stu Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 I've got a feeling this won't finish 1-2. Next goal will be crucial. Martinez kept Villa in the lead that half. Quality goalkeeper.
Midfield_General Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 (edited) Some poor finishing by Ipswich though. Clarke should have scored that header, and Delap should have finished that 1-on-1. Two very good saves by Martinez in that half, although he should have stopped the goal. Can see someone getting sent off. Think Villa will win 1-3. Edited 29 September, 2024 by Midfield_General
Disco Stu Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 Yeah I think Ipswich will rue their missed chances in the first half. I think 1-3 as well although if it goes late at 1-2 I wouldn't rule out another late Ipswich goal.
hypochondriac Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 Ipswich's style of play is a million times better than ours. 3 2 1
saintant Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 Ref cheating Villa out of this - Morsey already booked and commits two more offences when he should without doubt be booked and sent off. Now Ipswich equalise. 1

Galway saint Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 Can’t see we would have scored Ipswich’s second as soon as the ball went out to the left it would’ve been recycled 1
northam soul Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 Wonder when any of our so called strikers will find the back of the net this season.
whelk Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 Said it many times but why the fuck were we not in for Jack Clarke? 1
Osvaldorama Posted 29 September, 2024 Posted 29 September, 2024 Tbh Ipswich recruitment (players & manager) are making our owners look like absolute idiots atm. 3
