That new Champions League format looks absolutely wank.

I thought fixture congestion was a thing for the poor loves. They've ramped up the number of matches a fair bit.

That's why FA Cup replays gave way and they've been given comfortable League Cup ties. They'll be asking to abolish the League Cup altogether soon while simultaneously lobbying for Premier League fixtures to be played in the USA and Saudi Arabia.

I think the new champions league format will make the competition much more interesting early on

Little sympathy, no excuse for not wearing shinpads.

That is something that amazes me Dibling doesnt and IMO will get a skin injury or worse

It amazes me how players stay on the pitch to argue when they've been sent off, like Rice just did.

He knows full well he was in the wrong. He was already on a yellow and he deliberately prevented the Brighton player from taking a free kick.

How can he possibly have any complaints about that? The ref had no choice.

From Sky highlights:-

West Ham and Brighton also made very poor errors at the back, and both lost goals as a result.

Lots of joy for teams, breaking in behind retreating defences. Our lack of tempo and transitions, means we don;t come close to doing that frequently, despite having at least 2 players who do really well from it.

Lots of strong, physical central focal points across the league. Something we've not goine with.

Lots of end to end attacks, which is something RussBall tries to prevent. We have the possession stats for it, just not the control or the creativity. Everton came undone, losing a 2 goal lead because they didn't control hold possession.

All three of Bournemouth goals came from crosses into the box as well.

Watching Liverpool they are set up how we should be 4 2 3 1 with Archer up top. The pivot would be Downes and Big Les with the 3 in front of them Dibbling, Cornet and Fernandes. Obviously I'm not suggesting we'd play anywhere as good as Liverpool but I reckon if we cut out the overplaying from the back and some of the sideways backwards stuff we'd look a reasonable team, give away less soft goals and create/score more.

Newcastle were terrible today but prevailed 2-1 vs Spurs. Loads of bad giveaways in dangerous areas but they got away with it. They have the star power to break forward and score, something we lack when we play BBD and AA up top.

That's exactly the set up I'm craving for. Wonder if we'll see it?

Unlikely but we live in hope. It's what most good sides do.

Saints vs Man U might be just 90 minutes of constant giveaways from both teams if this weekend is anything to go by.

Will be more fun than when we'll face Man City. I imagine it'll be like Rishi Sunak going in the ring against a prime Mike Tyson.

Loads of really bad giveaways in all matches this week. Ours seem to be the most ruthlessly punished. Probably because ours are more frequent. Cut that shit out and we might have a chance.

There was loads of times this week and last where we weren't punished for mistakes. Like you say if you make enough of them they catch up with you eventually.

Absolutely. What angered me was that yesterday we'd just got away with a mistake involving KWP and luckily the ball went to Ramsdale. A few seconds later we fannied again and it was 1-0. Footballers are a bit thick really.

It was Yuri Alberto, that striker who apparently wasn't very good that we were linked with that started it. To be fair, Alcaraz doesn't appear to do that much in the video. He did a lot more against Lazio.

Agree, unless there is more to it that we don't see in the clip Charley does nothing much at all other than try to hold back team mates.

Hard to see what’s happening in that confusion. I was trying to look for players’ names but half of them seem to be called EZZE

Leicester off their points deduction on a technicality in the PSR wording meaning their charges being brought when an EFL team are not binding.

Bit of a blow for the sides near the bottom as it was expected they would receive a decent deduction.

Looked like mistaken identity to me. Could get overturned unless there’s a further section not visible.

How on earth have they been allowed to escape punishment for this. Makes a complete mockery of the entire thing.

Some clubs have stuck to the rules (undermining their performance), and others have been punished. Leicester have cheated and escaped any punishment. Everton and forest in particular must be fuming. Leeds as well I imagine - given all their sales to meet PSR limits...

Not the first time by Leicester either, got promoted in 2002/3 I think it was when still in administration. Remember it caused a stink with the other sides contending at that level.

So that's Bellingham, Palmer, Watkins and Foden all out of the England set up for ambiguous reasons. Honestly, what's the point of international breaks? The fans don't want them and seemingly, neither do the players.

He came running in and put his hands in the face of both Alberto and Caca, then hid behind a bigger teammate (pretending to hold him back) when Caca went after him.

Smart play from Charly; he knows how hard it is to score when 11 vs 10 so he decided to make it 10 vs 9.

So that’s the reason why the Pompey fans hate Leicester, although they got promoted as well that season….!

I think they were the first club to stack up a load of debt, go into admin to write all off and then carry on.

The points deductions we have now sprung from what they did and the punishment they didn't get.

Having escaped points deduction Leicester face further charges with possible points deduction !

Ah, more sweeping under the carpet to be done at a later date as lip service is provided. All a giant smoke screen to deflect attention from when Man City are exonerated for all their charges.

Maybe the world doesn’t revolve round the attitude of a handful of England players.

Doesn't need to. They'll do what they like anyway. The football world doesn't revolve around the fans that's for sure.
