The 1 point we got from 2 home games against them were criminal and it’s been downhill ever since. Had we beaten Ipswich, drawn with Leicester & 10 man Newcastle we’d probably have picked up a point or 2 elsewhere as confidence wouldn’t have been as low. All ifs and buts and we’d probably still be in the bottom 2, but we wouldn’t be talking about getting 12 points or not. 1

Expand When we signed Beasant it raised a few eyebrows in a similar way to when Crouchie arrived, both had been, at times, calamitous with their previous clubs but these two did well for us and became popular with the fans. John 'Budgie' Burridge and Borac were another couple of characters with a good rapport with the terraces. We also had Sunderland's '73 cup final hero James Montgomery on loan for a bit mid-70s, I saw him make his winning debut for us away at Luton. 4

Expand Yes the Skates knew the DEF were being held inside for their safety so in usual skate style started giving in the trampoline behind the safety of the police lines. After about 30 minutes and knowing full well the police would have to let us out to make sure we made the train back and avoid Europes most dangerous crew being stuck in Portsmouth for their night the police started to warn the skates they needed to leave the area. Cue a stampede as they desperately tried to get away resulting in them smashing windows of shops and houses as they tried to find a place to hide, even a few police we attacked in their desperation to escape. when we finally got out as expected the skates were all safely tucked out of the way with the police lines protecting the few that were stupid enough to still be in the area. An unchallenged stroll back to station. once we were back on the trains surprise, surprise the skates came out of their hiding places and started bouncing around again gobbing off. Those that were there know. If we’d have got anywhere near them that day they’d have been torn apart, lucky for them the police did their job and protected them from am absolute pasting so they had to smash up their own city to hide from us 2

My experience was the same as yours as I was driving to the east but as I wasn't stupid enough to wear colours and look the very model of sweetness and innocence (cough..) Expand I feel like Brighton have lost their way this year, it was always likely though - clubs of that size cannot continue to compete at the top end, one bad transfer window and it's curtains (as we found out). They had a disaster of a window last time out, and they spent £200m - of all that, I'd say only Rutter has been a regular for them. They dumped all their scouts as well. Their manager choice has been questionable too, I'd say a good chunk of their fans want him gone and have done for a while. 1
