Palace winning means 5 points from safety after just 9 games. That takes a special sort of absolute shit. Cheers Russ you melon.

Palace won't go down whilst they've got players like Mateta, Eze and Guehi. They've had a poor start but they'll pick up for sure. I still think the 3 teams that came up will go back down, with us firmly bottom of the pile.

Agree. The gap between us and safety by the end could easily be 20+ points.

Good job we fucked that Ben White off. We couldn’t let him play balls like that, RM would have him subbed straight off! 😂

A bit worrying that the 4 teams just above us all picked up points this weekend.

I think that this weekend we have secured 20th place and we won’t be leaving it for the rest of the season sadly. Already 5 points behind Palace in 17th and 8 points off of Everton in 16th.
Not even November yet and we are pretty much doomed.
I can see why changing the manager would be a waste of time, even with a different playing set up, it’s extremely unlikely we could claw our way out of the drop zone.

Poor recruitment in the summer has scuppered any chance we realistically had. Edwards, Woods, Fraser, BBD, Taylor, all summer signings, not one of them got into the pitch yesterday. Stocking our squad with mediocrity who can’t improve a 4th place Championship side. Never going to end well sadly. Typical Saints recruitment really - quantity over quality, who we will struggle to get rid of now.

Could have done with Palace not beating Spurs, but ultimately, Wolves & Palace are going to pick up points. We're now rapidly going to be left behind unless rabbits are drawn out of hats for Everton & Wolves.

Yes we have a mediocre squad, but they're not a 1 point out of 27 squad. Would like to see two up front for these next two games (TP and Archer). We need to be brave 😉

Everton and Wolves are games we must win to try to stop ourselves being cast adrift at the bottom of the League. A couple of wins would give us some hope before we meet Liverpool !!

Blimey, I can’t even see where one win is going to come from all season at the moment.

Nor can I. Depressing in October! Liverpool are followed by Brighton, Chelsea, Villa & Spurs. As usual I shall hope for the best and expect the worst. Rinse and repeat. 😒

Watched Tamworth v Huddersfield in the cup - very nice watch Tamworth winning from a Torpedoed throw in flapped into the net by the Terriers keeper. Even came with a squeaky bum 7 minutes of added time.

Watching Luton and West Brom, I still can’t understand why the game needs to stop because of a medical incident in the stands.

Agree. All it achieves is bringing the unwanted, unwarranted voyeuristic attention of an entire stadium (+/- TV audience) to someone possibly fighting for their life.

Fulham/Brentford tonight. Inconsequential to us and only half watching but it's noticeable how both teams hardly ever pass backwards. There's a lot of shots from outside the box and hopeful crosses in to the middle but everything is quick with positive intent. These are middle of the table teams. Nothing special and the players certainly don't look any more skillful than ours. RM needs to watch other teams.

But, when we played them, we got nowhere near Brentford.  Anyway, except for Man City, we don’t copy anyone; (we have to be different): no bravery in doing that.  How can we be proud every week if we merely copy what Fulham do?  Fluke goals are not for us, no sireeeeee; we just have to score a perfect goal each and every time.  And if we manage to walk it into the net after a slow build-up in which 11 different players touch the ball that counts for double and increases the value of our possession %age by 10 whole points.  “That’s the way to do it”.  😇

Do the team doctors assist in the incident and therefore unavailable if needed for a player requirement so play stops until they are back in position?

That was the case Rotherham home last season at St Mary's.

I think the reasoning behind it is if a goal is scored and something gets thrown or someone falls over onto the medical staff/patient.

Yup, that's basically it.  Very difficult to provide potentially life-saving treatment with a game going on (wouldn't be easy for fans in the same area either I'd imagine).

We obviously had a huge psychological effect on them given their form since they played us...  😁

To be fair, only scoring 1 goal against Saints is going to lead to scar tissue. Imagine how Everton are going to be this weekend. We've basically relegated them.
