whelk Posted 15 December, 2024 Posted 15 December, 2024 You got to love Keane as a pundit. Richards - Walker is better than that Keane - I’m not so sure 1

What is frustrating is that VAR could correct this sort of shit rather than worrying about interfering armpit. Red for Walker would be 100% justified.

Jack Posted 19 December, 2024 Posted 19 December, 2024 Spurs are just Russball with better players. Dross
64saint Posted 19 December, 2024 Posted 19 December, 2024 Fraser Forster been taking advice from our keepers. Two big howlers tonight.
SambaMaverick Posted 19 December, 2024 Posted 19 December, 2024 Ange, like Martin, is playing the equivalent of the football mind virus. I may be thick, but I don't understand the payoff. I understand it in theory, but how often does playing out from the back actually completely break down a team of well-drilled Premier League (or even Championship) players. The risk outweighs the reward significantly, and especially when you have goalkeepers without the capabilities. The sooner it's gone from our game, the better. It stinks. 5
saintant Posted 19 December, 2024 Posted 19 December, 2024 Felt sorry for Big Fraser tonight. Worth a look if you haven't seen his two howlers - Spurs were coasting at 3-0 and within a six minute disaster spell it was 3-2. I half expected Ange to substitute him because his head was gone and he had more of a glazed look about him than normal. 1
Graffito Posted 19 December, 2024 Posted 19 December, 2024 That second united goal. Lurch swang his size thirteen like he was kicking a flat tyre. Spurs. They sing our song. They buy our duds. They copy our tactics. What do they expect. They can have macarthy. He can do everything Forster can do, and more.

The tators in his first game coming in were mentioning the good saves he was making. I was pleased for him.

Unfortunately, Ange is another who likes to get his keeper involved with passing out and we all know that Fraser is hopeless at it - he's just too slow and cumbersome with the ball at his feet. 1

Listening to him after the game ... I was having Martin post-match interview PTSD. Mentions of 'moments' and 'philosophy' and other such bollocks. Ugh.
Sarnia Cherie Posted 19 December, 2024 Posted 19 December, 2024 You can take Fraser Forster out of Southampton but you can't take Southampton out of Fraser Forster. A decent goalie must be top of Ange Postecoglu's shopping list.

AlexLaw76 Posted 20 December, 2024 Posted 20 December, 2024 Hopefully villa smash city and their slump continues, and guardiola calls it a day soon. Pep is brilliant but his influence to lower end managers’ is frightening. 1 1

It's surely no coincidence that since we played them and RS had a cosy chat with his superhero that City have fallen off a cliff. Teams like City will always lose a game here and there but this run of defeats is something new for them. He has had it easier than many managers with the huge amount of money at his disposal to buy the very best. This will show whether Pep is a great manager or not. And yes, come on Villa! 1

He took advantage of a naive vegan when he was at his lowest and there's no excuse for that. 2 3

How many more games does Pep have to lose before Russell Martin's recent run is better? City clearly need to be even more extreme in their possession football. Who better to bring in, than the man Pep said they had learned so much from. 🙂 3
Maggie May Posted 21 December, 2024 Posted 21 December, 2024 FFS. Sorry, was going through a tunnel. Pep sacked if this carries on, surely? 1

He's been like that for years, so arrogant and smug. His comments about Martin were a dig and meant to belittle him. Rustie is too dim to figure that out. Smug peppy is getting his comeuppance. 1
Harry_SFC Posted 21 December, 2024 Posted 21 December, 2024 Teams have finally worked out that if you attack City, they are crap defensively. Especially without a natural DM.
sledger Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 i think pep conned other managers telling them how good it was to play this way because it made it easier for city, times are changing, players not interested and a big punishment loom down the line.
Gingeletiss Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Watching match of the day, and having watched two matches on Sky yesterday, I note, that all these teams are making big mistakes trying to play out from the back. So not just us.

Pep has a patronising tone when 'complimenting' the little managers. RM will have fallen for it. Pep's a bit like Manuel from Fawlty Towers at the moment. "I know nothing, I'm from Barcelona".
