Brighton slowly but surely heading the same way as us. Won’t be this season, probably won’t be next season, but it’ll come to them eventually.

We’ve not had a collapse this hapless against a team of obviously inferior players. I’m not saying we’re good but if we were playing like Spurs have second half, against much better teams than us, we’d be on the wrong end of double figures. There’s nothing to envy here, the game has come to life because Spurs are defending like clowns.

Give your head a wobble - it's a great game of football between two very good teams.

Spurs have defended poorly, but I don't see a lot to choose between the two teams' attacking talent. Mitoma and Minteh easily as good as Johnson and Werner.

Spurs have just thrown away a 2-0 lead and come away with nothing, against an inferior team that Chelsea ripped to pieces last weekend. They played ridiculous football in the second half, let in 3 in 17 minutes and didn't even have a goal of their own to show for it. Yes, it was great for us neutrals but to be holding that up as a way we should be playing is just absurd. Go and have a look at the Spurs forum and see what their fans make of their 'hammer and tongue' football.

Brentford have been scoring a bit, but I didn't realise how until I read this tongue in cheek football diary piece in The Guardian about how they'd also been losing:

What a brilliant idea! The difference with our approach is that unlike Wolves our opposition are fully prepared for when we cough up the ball in our own half.

"There's been a lot of noise this week. I got abused by my own fans the other day, absolutely abused by my own fans, who questioned our selections. If Charlton fans want to pick the team, I'll move.''

The most thin-skinned man on the planet, pathologically unable to take criticism or just ignore it, decides to become a football manager - a job where you basically very publicly take shit for a living. So strange. Now he's not our problem I find him utterly fascinating. 

I kind of want to draw them in the Cup at St Mary's just to see how he deals with it.

"noise" seems to be the in-thing at the moment. Isn't this what Martin bangs on about as well. How he "doesn't listen to it or let it affect him" despite clearly getting upset about it.

Yes, that's the reason. It's definitely nothing to do with the International football being played this weekend.

Talking of which, it'll be nice to have a weekend where Saints don't lose.

RM mentions 'narrative' quite a lot after the matches. Whatever has gone wrong in the game and that's usually a fair bit, he knows this will be the topic of the supporters' 'narrative'. I find his manner patronising on the subject of the fans opinions. As if he is patting us all on the head and humouring us because, of course, he knows better.

TBF if you posted the two line ups from the promotion season, we probably could have been competitive. The championship season definitely.
