Good performance until that absolute shitshow from McCarthy. This game has gone now but tomorrow and Monday has to be about getting a first choice keeper in. It’s not difficult, practically anybody with a pulse woyld be an upgrade on Alex and Baz, and if Martin doesn’t trust the scouts (understandable) then give Mendes or one of other agents a ring, I’m sure they’ve got a keeper looking for a PL opportunity in their books who are at least passable.

I don’t know if the hesitancy to get a first choice keeper is the manager or board. If it’s the former, the club might need to do what Cortese did over Nigel’s head by getting Boruc in.

Yes he should've hoofed it into touch and then berated his defenders but they've been trained to play it out and he can't do it, everyone knows 🤷

We’ve got an extra man so why play high risk possession in your own box when you could just clear your lines and go win the ball back higher up the pitch?  Crazy and will be the death of us this season with our current keeper.

He's the only one to blame for suicidal tactics. Expecting McCarthy to be a playmaker from the back is stupid. The tactics are 100% on RM.

The people dumping on Martin after one error ... gimme a break.  If there was no risk to the strategy everyone would do it.    It's his philosophy that have made the rest of the half look sensationally good.  And... the game's only half-way done. Our strategy tires out opposition teams even when there's 11 men. With 10.. I think there's every chance we still win this.  

 

(cue three more giveaways and the most embarrassingly 4-0 loss of all time.) lol.

Pope is just as hopeless passing out so he never does it. McCarthy hasn't even got the intelligence to realise that he can't do it either. Martin needs to forget McCarthy passing out if there are opponents close and do what Pope does, hit it long and win it back and play

Right.... Time for some positivity Trousers... We were the dominate team for c.90% of the first half. I'm going for an Archer equaliser on 78 minutes and 1 point in the bag from a game most of us thought we would get tonked in.... COYR!!

It's really indefensible. He literally could have played it anywhere but there. That was literally the only player in shot that was marked up. Lumley Vs Forest surely.

I think you are going to be disappointed. Bazunu has been statistically the worst shot stopper in the PL and 2nd worst in the Championship. His passing is certainly better than Mccarthy but there were plenty of cockups on his watch also.

There’s not being able to play out form the back and that. That was a routine back pass a school age keeper should be able to deal with. It was a lazy pass out to a player not a postion to receive it. Absolutely pathetic

Sorry but you dont have to be a 'playmaker' to be able to play a simple 5 yard pass. He could've passed it anywhere but there. It's just a really, really bad mistake on his part.

Nobody's dumping on him after 1 error. We're highlighting the fact McCarthy has made that exact mistake in EVERY pre-season game and yet we continue to try it expecting different results. We know he can't do it. We shouldn't be expecting him to do it.

Never mind, keep playing the same way. Trust the process or some such pony. I’d imagine he’d get more of a bollocking if he hoofed it forward most times he got it. 
 

We play  this way & will continue to play this way regardless of any fuck ups.

Going to be a feisty second half and that's an atmosphere I don't expect us to succeed in, but time to change some opinions I guess.

You don't have to play those passes as a keeper. If he had authority to clear his lines, that goal ain't happening. Yep, McCarthy fucked up, but he fucked up playing suicide football. Clear your lines and then win the ball higher up the park. I'm not letting McCarthy or RM off the hook for that.
