sakooshi
I stumbled across this. It's the tactical camera view which coaches use because it's the best angle to see everything clearly. Since that's the case, might it be better if they made it the default camera angle when watching football on TV?
Saint_clark
How do they decide which end to show it from? Pretty sure Sky had the option to pick which camera you watched the game through on the red button a few years back. The cost has gone up but the service has got worse. I miss fan commentary as well.

My first time watching dead on the centreline, at height behind the goal. You're right that it gives you a better view of the tactics on display. It certainly added to what was already going to be my best ever football experience.
Ted Bates Statue
I enjoyed watching the 2018 World Cup on iplayer with this option but it doesn't seem to have been offered since. I'm guessing that as there was no commentary on that feed, it wasn't as popular as it could have been. I think the closest you can get to this kind of thing more recently is by watching in VR which would offer a selection of views from the stands, but I think there wasn't enough demand for it and Sky have stopped bothering with it. It's a bit of a shame that broadcasting seems to be going backwards in some aspects.

Even had a player cam, kinda taken a step back in regards to viewer interaction.
