Parking ticket on Play off final day

I knew there would be something to ruin the bestest ever day. Did anyone else park at Denham station that Sunday and get a £85  parking fine notice. Wouldn't mind but I paid by phone, shows up on bank statement, but a fine notice came through today. Bas****s. 😡

Did you put your reg into the app correctly? I know someone who has been bitten like this before (not at this location though), they legitimately paid and had the receipt etc - but just had a typo in their car reg, and that meant it was all null and void. It shouldn't....the receipt should still be proof, but these companies don't have morals.

Hopefully I put the correct registration  in 🙄but am sending them a copy of bank statement with the charge on.

Doesn’t the phone app give you a record of your parking session? If not, you can always request one.

Thanks, I've found the phone app but no trace of payment on it for that day 🤔.  Even though I have a bank statement showing £4. 50 paid to Apoco parking...Strange !!!

If the money left your account but does not show on the app then there is a fault with the app. Can you get hold of the app management?

Just a thought I have never heard of Apoco but there is APCOA who run a lot of station car parks. You haven't been scammed with one of those dodgy QR codes have you?

If showing them your redacted bank statement doesn't help have a look at the Parking forum on Money Saving Expert, where volunteers give a great deal of their time in helping fighting these companies.

I've been caught twice at a local Lidl and luckily had CC statements or receipts to prove shopping there, but both occasions there were problems with the screens to enter Regs: not much incentive for the companies to maintain them properly, is there?

ANd they are not fines unless issued by a council: they are invoices and often extremely dodgy ones.

Thanks, I was wondering about a parking forum or such like. I can't be the only one whose fallen victim. I've appealed against it and sent them a copy of my bank statement showing the payment.

Did you receive an email confirmation after paying?  I parked at Gerrards Cross station and scanned the QR code there to pay.  It all looked genuine and I got an email almost immediately which quoted the time, location and my reg number.

I second Sue's recommendation of the moneysavingexpert forum.   I think I've seen information on there that "fines" from APCOA at station car parks cannot be enforced if you defend them properly.

No, I didn't get an email receipt.  I'm starting to think I must have done something wrong yet APCOA took the money out of my bank. 🤔

I got one at the Mercure hotel in Birmingham for the semi, despite paying the tenner. I fought it and it’s been rescinded, I’m sure you’ll be fine. Good luck

If you did the scan and pay you wouldn't get an email as you don't put an email address in. Did it last night at Margate Station, just checked and I didn't get an email.

A friend of mine has just won a case against a parking provider under similar circumstances (app failed to inform parking provider that she had paid) by appealing to the independent adjudicator

I've used Pepipoo forums in the past for legal traffic and parking issues, maybe try posting on there. Funny how some people enjoy chatting shit about football on forums, whereas others prefer to help people not get screwed over by private companies and overbearing local authorities.

This has affected a lot of Tube car parks recently, we’ve had customer complaints about Osterley car park having fake QR codes. We’ve been covering them up if we spot them but the car parks are run by SABA, not LUL so there’s not a lot we can do otherwise.

Today I received an email from the parking company saying it had not registered my payment made and that the fine had been issued in error..

.... bastards , almost ruined a great day 😡 

I'll look at this as the second best result of that day though 😊.  Wonder how many others it's conned ?

So annoying that companies can get away with this.

Either people have to go out of their way to try and prove they are innocent, or people just do not bother and pay the fine.

All because these companies do not have adequate systems in place, or are being chancers and wanting to get extra income.

Yep i think you're right, they just want extra income from robbing us. They think we'll  just pay up.  My wife told me just to pay it, she said it's not worth the hassle.  I told her to **** off.  Pleased I ignored her advice !!😊

I went to appeal & after about 6 weeks got a letter from the parking company saying I had lost the case, but they would accept the initial amount (the one they offer you if you pay within 14 days),  rather than the full amount. The very next day I got an email from the independent appeal body saying I’d won. I put an official complaint in to them, saying the parking company had tried to get me to pay knowing full well I had won the appeal. Their finding, the parking company made an error “in good faith”. The whole thing is corrupt.

I received a £100 fine from a car park in Worthing run by GXS security. Bought a ticket, but was apparently the wrong ticket despite being from a machine right next to the car park.

Short of it is, after lots of threats from an assigned debt collector, and a notice of an actual court case, I managed to get them to fuck off after a strongly and professionally worded email and a subject access request.
