When a defender barges into the back of an attacker (Saka tonight)then shoves them to the ground with both hands , it's being described as good strong defending by the commentator ! This has occurred in 3 matches so far . To me it looks like an obvious foul . Have the rules changed ?

Can't say that I thought we were much better than any of the top teams that we've seen so far.  Decent, but no more than Germany, Italy, Spain and the likes have shown.

Bellingham excellent so far. Rice, Saka and Guehi good. The rest... meh.

I'd put Saka as excellent as well, probably our best attacking outlet. Guehi the best defender.

As the first half came to a close the gaps were being shown in CM, Rice having to do two mens work in there really. Need a proper CM in there next to him to get some real control in there.

You just know “Trent” will be an 8/10 in most papers, regardless

We definitely weren’t. Bellingham however looks like the best player I’ve ever seen in an England shirt.

Foden and Kane quiet first halves. Saka doing well. Defence looks fairly solid so far, couple of mistakes. Bellingham is a very graceful, balletic player.

Kane gets manhandled if he's anywhere near the ball . Bellingham has been hacked down a number of times , fortunately he's so quick he's avoided major damage.

Bellingham a class apart. Saka causing them all sorts of issues. Kane hardly in it, but taking up all the attention of one of their defenders, moving opponents out of the way. Few chances.

Solid, apart from a Trent misplaced pass. As they push forward at some point, Southgate will be looking to exploit the space.

Tators fawned a bit over Trent at one point. He's not the specialist in midfield you'd ideally want. But no one has been poor.

Hope he delivers something then, or is part of a team that does.

He’s been very neat and tidy imo, I think he’s been one of our better players.

He's having to do the work of two in there. TAA is mostly great when on the ball, but doesn't seem to be where a defensive midfielder needs to be. Rice doing brilliant.

Rice - 2 tackles, 1 interception and many short sideway passes. Not expecting too much from him but if that what excites the England fan to say been fantastic then fair enough.

Mainoo and Palmer for TAA and Foden, IMO.

I'd drop Bellingham in alongside Rice, TAA off and Cole on down the left. Foden in behind Kane.

Foden is a strange one, he runs so hot and cold. When he’s on it he’s unplayable. When he’s off it he just doesn’t contribute.

Dooooooooosan Taaaaaaaadic.

A modern day Joe Cole. Good player when played right. He's not a left winger for me.

Agree, but it seems to me he's hot for his club and cold for his country, perhaps its about the players around him?

Or the manager knowing how to get the best out of him.

Yep. Positionally he's been appalling. Play a midfielder in midfield. Not complicated you'd have thought. They've absolutely controlled the midfield, and the game for ages.

Imagine if TAA just passed ball out of play like Rice?

TAA would have needed to have been in position to have done that. You'll have noted that he wasn't on for the pass either.

Oh yeah TAA’s fault, of course

Well, the French, Germans, Italians and Spanish won’t be quaking in their boots at this performance.

None of them have played a team quite as good as the Serbians, yet.

I’d love him to do well for England. Unfortunately there seems to be this narrative that we have to find a place for him.
has he proved everyone wrong tonight?
