Passing it back and across. Fine, because it drew them out. Good pass through the midfield. Going well. Got to Foden, who could have gone out into the space. But he automatically cuts in and back it goes.

Southgate 45 mins from the end of his time. I think he was going to choose to go anyway at the end of the tournament. But to go out with a whimper is poor. And to go out because you didn't have Shaw, Maguire and Henderson covering up basic gaps is pretty grim.

As much as people liked to moan, we were rarely this bad. Our possession football usually yielded an average of two goals and two points per game. England this tournament have been what we were in September. The difference is this squad wasn’t thrown together two months ago after all England’s best players signed for Tajikistan.

So many key players off form.

They're in a badly coached and managed team, with instructions to play the way we do. They're probably almost as fucked off as the fans.

Don’t have any faith in Southgate to change this. How he has watched the first 3 games and served up shite like this with no changes is ridiculous. It’s actually impressive that he’s made a team this talented look this bad.

This Mainoo lad is a conundrum. Can look amazing at times, then goes missing, and often seems to be hiding rather than finding space. He's got something though.

There was a star that saints averaged 15 shots per game. I’m struggling to understand why England haven’t had that in total this tournament with the talent we have.

Exactly- he is the problem and seams to have no tactical nous whatsoever.

Remember it’s Lineker’s fault

Imagine someone having the balls to say out loud what we can all see. Maybe Southgate should spend less time dismissing it and more time actually listening.

Ref is way too liberal with the yellow cards.

Only with players who haven't already been booked. He's set a bar but refused to meet it for a few fouls from players already on a yellow.

The worst of the bunch from this tournament. I honestly don't think any changes fix this, the entire team and squad is disjointed and unbalanced. The coaching is utterly horrific. No tactical understanding of the modern game from any of them. They can throw on Palmer and Gordon, but if they follow the same horrendous coaching instruction then it's just pointless.

Every single game we've played this entire calendar year has been absolutley inept. It's all broken quite deep and 'tweaks' in a single game at HT aint fixing this rabble.

Silver lining: Southgate's last game in charge

He won't get sacked, probably allowed to leave, 'mutually agreed' and all that...!

Very reminiscent of us under Selles. A lot of pointless passing between the backline, a lot of aimless punts being soaked up by the opposition defence when it does go forward. Only real threat looks from a set-piece and nobody's working hard to put pressure on the opposition when we don't have the ball. 0 shots on target and nothing clear cut being created. Only this England team is a lot more talented than that Saints one, which makes it all the more impressive from Southgate.

Lee Carsley lined up for his replacement apparently, the FA have a hard-on for promoting from within. Not sure anything changes even if Southgate goes.

Beyond awful.

If Shaw is halfway fit he’s got to come on and give us at least a tiny bit of something down the left. Foden having a stinker but it’s all so predictable down there, Trippier is only going to cut in each time. Probably have TAA on for Walker too, get some width from the full backs.

Then take your pick for the other 3 subs.

Agree, It’s just a total mess from front to back. Southgate is just feckin’ useless.

But keeping the line up as similar as possible will work at some point... right?

Neville saying it as it is. Apart from the 'Trent' love in, he's right.

At least TAA tries to make things happen. These cunts are creating nothing

LOL - I thought Mainoo was one of the few bright spots. What about Bellingham, why is he out there?

Martin always had the goal of trying to move opponents, allowing passing opportunities at pace. We got to see the best and worst of that developing.

It doesn't seem as though Southgate really knows what the outcomes of trying that approach are, or how to get there. Trusting far too much on individuals in a system that requires teamwork to be effective. Then hampering it further by putting in players who aren't good fits to the system.

Foden/ Trippier mentioned a lot. But setting up to move opponents, and not doing it to support Saka, who is keen to get behind has been very frustrating.

True. I'd bring him on though. Him and Palmer could be superb down the right, and TAA would be better placed than Walker to supply and support Palmer.

Agree. Dont think Jude is as popular as some make out for example.
No shots on target first half with the quality of forward players we have is poor.

Walker has been very poor. I'd happily put TAA on in his place.
