See it's quite a simple solution for Gareth because Trent is a right back by trade. So what he needs to do is:

1) Move Trent to right back where he's more comfortable.

2) Move Walker to CB because you have to accommodate him somewhere and Trent now has his position.

3) Now that Walker has Stones' position, you'll have to move Stones into midfield because he's quite good there for City or something.

4) Now that you have Stones in midfield, there's no need for Rice - but as we have to accommodate him somewhere, and he's quite good going forwards, he gets moved into the 10 position.

5) With Bellingham relinquishing his space to Rice, he'll have to play as a striker because you can't leave Bellingham out. GOAT.

6) Hmm, Ok, that means Kane has to play somewhere. He's tall and slowing down, stick him at centre back alongside Walker. He can be the threat at corners with headers.

7) Guehi is dropped, because he's been too good this tournament.

8 ) Saka is left footed, so he's wasted on the right. To left back you go Mr Bukayo.

9) With the right-wing spot free, we can move Phil Foden there because he can play anywhere.

10) Trippier to left wing because apparently he's really good on the left.

11) Pickford into midfield because he's good at pinging long balls.

12) Ramsdale in goal. Job done.

It's so easy.

not enough players willing to run without the ball at their feet. Need a few more 'workers' to balance the superstars.

This pitch is horrific. Some of the England players seem to have lost a little confidence because of it.

Are Denmark playing on a different pitch then?

Bellingham is part of the problem. He just floats around like he does at Madrid.  He's a brilliant player, but he needs the right system if he is going to do that.

Southgate is an architect of failure, he’s never done nothing remotely impressive in his managerial career. He had two consecutive tournaments of incredibly fortunate fixtures, that’s it. Beating the likes of Ukraine, Sweden and Panama at big tournaments is not impressive and he’s never beaten anyone properly decent.

On the positive side, a point effectively gets us out the group - so we can now use the Slovenia game to try a different line up/tactics etc.

We should try Trent in midfield. Only his passing range can unlock defences. No, wait..

Fuck me, pundits my arse. Not one of them mentions Wokegate by name or critique him. It’s all woolly, don’t want to upset him. It’s down to him…

Agree. They can’t bear to criticise their mates. Kane taking a lot of flack and he scored the goal. Meanwhile, not one mention of the Trent shambles.

C'mon Rasmus. Stop posting on here and go and sign a player.

Roy Keane said before a ball was kicked that Trent would be found out in midfield and he was spot on.

Careful what you wish for... I'd say keep busy posting on here and leave the signing to others 😉

They’re “puzzled” as to why players that press every week at their clubs, don’t do so when playing for England. There’s no puzzle, it’s fucking tactical. Tactics decided by Wokegate.

Exactly, we spent most of the game retreating 20 yards en masse every time Denmark got the ball, it's abject fear  - you can only imagine how we'll play against the likes of Germany, Portugal, France and Spain and what they will do to us. Southgate instils fear and takes away all the things England's best players are good at.

Shearer in particular just can't bring himself to criicise his mate Southgate. Whereas anyone still defending southgate either suffers from serious bias or is so tactically illiterate they may as well be watching rugby

The overall purpose turned out to be as expected, with overall the sort of match as well.

In that, tournament manager Southgate ensures a point, effectively taking England into the next round. That's his deliverable, as it's been in the last couple of tournaments.

A 2nd group game cautious, defensively structured game should come as no surprise.

Underneath that, we've just seen a lot of disappointing performances, with that approach nullifying a lot of the players better qualities. TAA and Foden with the same issues as before. Foden did come in centrally occasionally. DM is an issue. Bellingham and Rice were impacted covering for TAA, while being limited by their instructions.

Lots of poor passing. Lots of unforced errors. Lots of possession needlessly conceded. Individually poor.
