(Actually, technically, we could draw one of our next two and lose the other, still go through the group stage and then win the next 4 and we’d still have the trophy.) (Actually actually we could not win another game and still come home with the trophy if we draw one of the next two games then succeed in 4 penalty shoot outs!) 1

It’s a results business ultimately… but anyway I do think England will improve. The more that went on you morphed into Southgate! 1 1
sadoldgit Posted 18 June, 2024 Posted 18 June, 2024 I don’t normally turn to The Guardian for insights into Gareth Southgate’s England, but this is spot on. https://amp.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/jun/17/england-gareth-southgate-serbia-euro-2024 2 1

By all accounts he's developed in to a very good defender over the last couple of years. Always thought he looked like he had a lot of potential at Southampton, but Ralph didn't seem to fancy/trust him.

Which I always found odd as he was clearly one of his picks, given he came from Germany and was Austrian - someone Ralph would have vetted more than any of our scouts. We used to paly him as a LB though which didn't help, he used to fly into challenges at LB and was a bit of a loose cannon. We never gave him the chance to develop at CB. 2
Elmore Saint Posted 18 June, 2024 Posted 18 June, 2024 Turkey v Georgia is ridiculously entertaining for a Euros group game. The lad Yildiz who’s currently at Juve looks a real talent. 2
S-Clarke Posted 18 June, 2024 Posted 18 June, 2024 Two goals of the tournament in one game! Great game this. Guler is some player, hope he doesn't lose his potential by rotting away at Madrid.

LGTL Posted 18 June, 2024 Posted 18 June, 2024 Best game of the tournament so far. This is the football I remember from yesteryear before ‘Pep’ ruined it with all his mundane shite. 6
saintant Posted 18 June, 2024 Posted 18 June, 2024 Like the look of Turkish left back Ferdi Kadrioglu who plays for Fenerbahce. 1
Killers Knee Posted 18 June, 2024 Posted 18 June, 2024 Georgian keeper, Mamardashvili, should be on the Saints radar. Looks a decent upgrade from what we have.
LeBizzier69 Posted 18 June, 2024 Posted 18 June, 2024 Top game that. Even the lesser European sides play so much more attractive and interesting football than our lot. 2

Looks a decent upgrade from what we have. I was thinking the same. Good hands and a bit unhinged. A bit like the Georgian rugby players. Would scare the shit out of a lot of premier league forwards. Edit: and our back four which would keep them honest! Edited 18 June, 2024 by Elmore Saint

S-Clarke Posted 18 June, 2024 Posted 18 June, 2024 Really good game, my favourite so far. Georgia may be seen as the minnows, but they have some decent players. Like you say above, their keeper is of a high level playing at Valencia. Kvaratskhelia is also one of the best attackers in the world right now.
AlexLaw76 Posted 18 June, 2024 Author Posted 18 June, 2024 Portugal on soon. Surely one of the favourites with the team/squad they have

warsash saint Posted 18 June, 2024 Posted 18 June, 2024 Thank the lord for the BBC red button!! Managed to turn off the awful woman commentator & now listening to radio 5. Even had Fonte on at half time.

adrian lord Posted 18 June, 2024 Posted 18 June, 2024 BBC taters so biased towards Portugal. It’s nauseating.

If I were you, I would try to transfer backup goalkeeper Matej Kovar, maybe on loan, Bayer Leverkusen was also very good. He conceded 6 fewer goals than he should have conceded in 13 matches.
skintsaint Posted 18 June, 2024 Posted 18 June, 2024 Looks like some Saints fan lost their flag to the Serbs..

I did spot the Millwall (No One Likes Us) obscuring the Saints one (both above) during the game. They might have captured a bunch in that area of the stadium. It'll be Kosovo next...

Jonnyboy Posted 19 June, 2024 Posted 19 June, 2024 So I thought Stuart Armstrong had pickup up a long-term injury? And is Fraser not deemed good enough these days?
coalman Posted 19 June, 2024 Posted 19 June, 2024 Scotland can lay claim to being the most clinical side at this tournament. They've scored one goal from 0 shots. And now they've had a corner too.
sfc4prem Posted 19 June, 2024 Posted 19 June, 2024 Scotland's 6th ever goal at the Euros. Aptly shite, deflected in.
Turkish Posted 19 June, 2024 Posted 19 June, 2024 One time hipsters choice for the Saints managers job, Murat Yakin in the dugout for Switzerland
Sheaf Saint Posted 19 June, 2024 Posted 19 June, 2024 Severe lack of quality in this game from both sides. Except Shaqiri. Take a bow son.
