We’re just a couple of hours from finding out what league will be competing in next season but I wanted to give a shout out to a poster called davefizzy. He’s been providing upbeat, enthusiastic and pragmatic approaches to our results, good or bad. He’s got my vote.

When you say 'member of the season' what do you mean? I need know before I vote.

I guess you can use whatever criteria you like to decide who the award should go to.

For me, @Wade Garrett gets the nod for his uncompromisingly acerbic pre-match posts that have never failed to make me smile.

Any of these.

Form probably doesn't matter if you've got a good manager with solid tactics and able to adapt, combined with players who want to win and show it on the pitch.

We're fucked.

Getting his excuses in there early. The schedule, the fans basically anything other than his tactics when we get knocked out in the semi final.

Sorry from day 1 he has been nowhere near the level.

I am all for giving the next generation of managers a go and trying to find the next Potts or whoever.

But we have just completely F!’@d up since Ralph.

We seem to have absolutely no idea , no direction and some mentality from a director that has come in and gone the minute the money and so say kudos waves in his face.

It needs SR to have some nads stop being fed crap by pretend football people and put a proper strategy in place.

Don’t blame Dragan at all, but for all his money, needs to go back to basics employee a manager that has been around the block knows how to play basic proper football at this level.

We absolutely had a squad to be top 2 all season, but just tried to be clever by asking for another card holding 20 at the blackjack table.

This is going to be a journey, even RM couldn’t put up an argument after the Leicester game. Looked and spoke like a broken man.

F~}k me get Warnock in for the play offs, he has pedigree. Pay him whatever and let him retire in the summer after another promotion.

Then work on a proper list of managers, we are a big club.

Nothing wrong with going for the big guns. We have done it before, so why not now.

Rant over,soapbox put away.

What’s wrong with warnock ?

He  has 8 promotions under his belt don’t you think that would potentially have given us s much better shot at promotion then a dude with 80 percent possession stats and a couple of mid table finishes .,

On 27/04/2024 at 20:56, Dman said:

Spot on.

Jines was out of his depth, but he’d had done a better job this season than RM has.

I’d much rather go into the play offs with a side set up under Jones than I would RM.

Would you sack Martin now and bring in an experienced manager for the final game and play offs?

On 27/04/2024 at 17:06, Jack said:

Not inspiring much confidence is he. The philosophy is shit, his tactics are shit, game management is shit.

Hope the owners were paying attention today.

I hate him. I hate his football. I hate the fact his appointment has wasted our first season of parachute payments.

No.  I'd sack him now and not bring anybody in for the last 3 games.  Player meeting, you got us into this mess, you get us out.  It can't go any worse than sticking with pointless, passive Russball.  Appoint new man next season.

On 27/04/2024 at 17:44, LGTL said:

Another appalling appointment. What the fuck were SR thinking?

He’s completely lost the plot and is becoming an embarrassment. Few reports that he’s lost the dressing room and it’s blindingly obvious this is true.

On 23/04/2024 at 22:28, Dman said:

There’s no maybe about it, we won’t. We’re not good enough and average c.2 goals conceded a game.

Goign up under this moron scares the life out of me more than the repercussions of not, if I’m being brutally honest.

On 23/04/2024 at 22:40, Wade Garrett said:

No way are we winning the play-offs with this clown in charge.  Dragan needs to get rid of him and that hipster cunt Rasmus.

I’ll save you the Drama… we won’t.

He won't stay if we go up, but we won't go up. He needs to go whatever happens this season, but he's absolutely fucked what was a golden opportunity at promotion. Completely fucked it.

We need an experienced director of football who isn't a hipster, and a manager with a proven track record of promotion, not a proven track record of passing in stupid fucking triangles and wanting his keeper to be Franz Beckenbauer.

The blokes an absolute fucking idiot.

Another vote for Dave, he's great. Never has a bad thing to say.

No idea what fabrice thinks he's achieving though, I find it odd when people trawl forums to look for posts which turned out inaccurate, without understanding the context at the time. Everyone has said daft things, my finest moment was proclaiming Ely would be a great signing as he's quick. Doesn't mean it should be trawled up to score points though.

For me its @trousers as I can't help but admire a man who posts so frequently yet manages to avoid committing to a particular side of the debate about pretty much anything.

Balancing for that long on the fence takes a strong core... so fair play - keep it up for next season!

Hardly trawled through posts. Click on any page on the Russell Martin thread and you will likely come across hysterical posters making statements that even at the time were absurd, rash and ripe for laughing at. Let alone a few weeks later.

Mention to Lord Duckhunter for popularising the name ‘Lego Head’.

(Although I recall he advised it was coined by someone else, not identified).

I think we should have a disclaimer at the top of every thread that if you see a post from these posters you can ignore it, as they are clearly fucking idiots who know Jack shit about football. Or maybe they can have their own part of the forum?

I think S-Clarke provides the best post match assessments. Don’t think I’ve disagreed with any of them in about 10 years. When you see a long post from some members you just keep scrolling, but I always stop to have a read of his.

Yes. He is one of a handful of posters I always read whatever they’ve written. Talks sense, usually spot on with his comments.

Since no one else has voted I better vote for me for providing streams through out the season that usually have naked women or Viagra adverts on.

No doubt we will miss those targeted ads in the premier league.

I'll go for @Wade Garrett too, an island of calm in a tempest of conflicting views. He comes to us, like a prophet, with every word his gift to an uncompromising world.  The Sun, The Moon and the Stars cannot contain the volume of his wisdom, issued, in small but understandable and unquestionable logic, to us.

When the people on here thirst from lack of nuanced prose, he delivers as his cup runneth over..

In short, give it 'im.

Hmm, the streams have been useful but not having a need for viagra or those sort of naked women 😉 I find it difficult to give him my vote. There's quite a few I'd like to give negative votes to, but I shall try and be more Davefizzy like!

second place @Wade Garrett - can’t wait for him to share his thoughts on some of next seasons opponents.

And I’ll take the opportunity again to be thankful MLG is no longer around. How much more enjoyable without him commandeering every thread

Context is crucial, particularly when you realise the worst posts were either;

a) immediately after we had appointed RM

b) 8/9 games into the season (bearing in mind the team were implementing a completely new style of play)

c) after we had already secured a playoff spot

Criticism is fine but neither situation warranted the overreaction it got from some posters. Some didnt want RM from the get go and that informed their opinion all season. Well, they want him now.

Best reads have certainly been in the form of @Wade Garrett, but that seems to be most people’s pick.

@tdmickey3For his full time employment of replying to and getting annoyed at every COT post. Fair play sir, what a waste of time.

Must say though, I am disappointed out of either @Turkish or @AlexLaw76 (and maybe a few others), no one has adopted the profile picture of Rasmus Ankerson post match trophy picture with cigar in mouth. Can’t seem to be able to post it on here.

There are lots of folk on here whose posts are worth reading and quite a few that aren't. Some deserve long service medals, others sway with the wind, vocal when we win; invisible when we lose! You know who you are. The Ignore option filters out the bad and the ugly leaving only the good! Great to live in a sanatised world isn't it?

My vote goes to @Wade Garrett, it shouldn't I know but his match previews are strangely compulsive. Let's hope that this honour does not mean that he over reaches himself in the future and disppoints through a lack of spontaniety.

A shout out for @Whitey Grandad and @Lighthouse for their invaluable common sense in keeping things simple and brief.

Thank you too to all on my good list for the entertainment that helps keep us sane when all else is falling apart.

Very good point, could be another Stone Roses after their first album.
