Bad Wolf Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 If you're gonna concede a goal, it might as well be one like that. Absolutely incredible. 1

NewYorkSaint Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 Maybe it's just me, but I was impressed by the evidence of Russball in that half. A lot of our game super-crisp, exciting to watch. Diaz a charismatic add.
gio1saints Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 It was impressive when it worked.✅. But lazio sussed it out - likdd Ed every EPL team will - and the last 15 they looked like they were confident in their press.,just a rehearsal for a whole season of watching us give goals away by fucking around the box. With this keeper. But yeah, ole stuff when it works. But FFS Alex and his giving the ball away a couple times per half is more predictable than death and taxes …🤨 2
derry Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 It's just stupid getting McCarthy to pass the ball because sooner or later he gives it to the opposition. I'm not impressed with Wood. Not good in the air, another that dithers on the ball and gives too many away. Alcaraz and Charles having a decent game but AAW finding it difficult. Mara is showing more effort but because of the rediculous 90% possession in our final third the forwards have to come deep. Edwards and Bree, Manning and Taylor ok. BBD great finish looks like an asset given the ball.
obelisk Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 I expect BBD is getting it in the neck from Russell for shooting instead of passing. He'll learn. 1
Turkish Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 Hopefully Dibbing gets the second half, be interested to see how he gets on against stronger and more robust opposition. Boy looks like he's got something for sure.
Saint Matty 76 Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 McCarthy really is frightening. Absolutely zero hope of survival if this is it for the season, which I really hope and expect it isn't. 1
Disco Stu Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 To not even get a shot away there was very poor.
trousers Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 Been quite impressed with Alcaraz this evening. Probably a 'shop window' performance mind you... Mara on the other hand...
Saint Matty 76 Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 Almost definitely in that. Charles and Edwards probably the two most impressive for me so far.

Ed Rooney Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 (edited) Mara is bang up there with the worst player I have seen in a saints shirt, and I have seen Alan Bennett and Sergei Gotsmanov Edited 7 August, 2024 by Ed Rooney 1
obelisk Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 Fannying around in defence, give the ball away and Lazio manage to miss a sitter.

Saint Matty 76 Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 That right there is probably why Alcaraz will be off. Has some nice turns/moments but ultimately too poor in possession. If his role is meant to be in midfield here it'll be too costly.

Not saying much I know but he’s not be rubbish. Think he’s being watched… 1
Midfield_General Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 Another massive let off. He had to score that but hit the bar

Poor in possession but we don’t apply that logic with the keeper…… it’s just weird

Ed Rooney Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 Has to be something wrong with the pitch, looks like it’s getting chewed up 1

gammon cheeks Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 Alcaraz is always looking to forward pass ..and start a scrap
obelisk Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 Alcaraz even managed to miskick the water bottle on his way to the dressing room. 7
Midfield_General Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 Starting to think Alcaraz might have a slightly suspect temperament 6
Saint86 Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 (edited) Harsh on Alcaraz that, got put in a choke hold and punched in the head. All he did was give a slight push and then attempt a rugby style turnover blocked by a scrum of our own players 🤣. And het gets set off. Done pretty well as well. I fear this wont help his chances with Martin. Edited 7 August, 2024 by Saint86

HarvSFC Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 Never actually see footballers go for it, especially not in a friendly. Fair enough. Alcaraz looked really bright tonight too, moved the ball forward a lot quicker than what we saw for a lot of last season, but that hot headedness isn't going to endear himself with the manager, unfortunately. Probably not helped him fit in with the Lazio team either, if they were interested...

Sheaf Saint Posted 7 August, 2024 Posted 7 August, 2024 I don't see any 'leaders' out there in pink tonight who could have calmed things down and defused that situation. Charlie was a red card waiting to happen after a couple of skirmishes in the first half. 1
