eelpie Posted 28 January, 2009 Posted 28 January, 2009 ....so why the feck don't we start with Saga? Once again it has been proved that the Dutch system wasn't working for us. Bringing back a better balance of experienced talent and youth with two strikers clearly works better than playing with mostly youngsters and one up front. We all new this. Only Lowe and JP didn't. Will their horrendous mistake prove terminal for us? Quite likely, but we aren't dead yet. At least Wotte is prepared to admit that the first half system was a mistake. Our fate is now in his hands. So I do hope that demos on Saturday will be aimed at Lowe and Wilde and will be contained outside the ground (which I will take part in) and NOT at the new head coach nor the players in the ground before and during the match against Swansea. Wotte may not have been our choice, but the dye is cast. WE are now well into the endgame. After the team's second half display against Norwich, he at least deserves our wholehearted support - provided he doesn't begin with the team that started yesterday. Congratulations Saga. Welcome back!
bungle Posted 28 January, 2009 Posted 28 January, 2009 What 'Dutch system'? We played nothing of the sort yesterday, we played a 'British' 4-5-1 in the 1st half.
skintsaint Posted 28 January, 2009 Posted 28 January, 2009 that 'system' has given us a fair few points on the road.

Welcome back! i agree, surely the phrase "if we needed a goal.." is true from the offset so why not just start with them, proactive rather than reactive?
bungle Posted 28 January, 2009 Posted 28 January, 2009 Wotte himself says we played a 4-1-4-1. Well, even then that is not a 'Dutch' system (sorry, we have to brand everything so people can understand it), but a 'British' system. We went there to play for a 0-0 draw, in a very 'British' manner.

labibs Posted 28 January, 2009 Posted 28 January, 2009 Agree. It looks like we went there to play with a 5 man midfield and keep it tight, hoping to nick a draw. That didn't work, so we switched to 2 up front to chase the game. It was definitely not the dutch system. Wotte has basically come out and said it will be DMG and Saga up front against Swansea on Saturday.

And recall Dyer to replace the injured Holmes on the right wing and we could have a decent side against Swansea.
