Good luck Stuey and thanks for the memories, been a great servant to the club. Real shame his season ended with injury but played an important part in getting us back to the PL and will always be fondly remembered as a Saint.

Very disappointed to see him leave. I can only assume the deal he was offered was only for a year and he wanted something longer? 

I think we need players like him for what's ahead. As others have said, I'd rather have SA than Lallana. 

Can't help but feel that this isn't a great start to proceedings. The club really needs to make sure that they get the Flynn Downes transfer sorted.

Class, skillfull player, another of the underrated gems we've unearthed in recent years, much like Steven Davis. Loved the swerve on the Coventry goal. Seemed to decline a bit after he got caught COVID (one of the first in the team to come down with it, IIRC?) But on his day, unplayable for most opponents. We wouldn't have been promoted without his input last season.

Probably one of my favourite players of the last few years, I'll miss the Scottish Messi and wish him nothing but the best in his next move.

I dont feel the club wanted him gone. He has made a choice and we dont know how he will recover from his injury. Personally the extra step up to the Prem may be a bit too far for him a couple of seasons on. Good luck

It's the transfer window, we're obviously going to be looking to replace him and to put it bluntly I don't want either Stu or Lallana in the squad next season. We can't be sentimental if we want to stay up and decent Championship players aren't going to cut the mustard.

I'm not sure I agree really that his time was up or that change was necessary. I do agree that he shouldn't be first choice anymore so if that is the criteria and he wants guaranteed games then it's for the best.

My pal inadvertently found himself on the piss with Terry Hurlock in Albufeira a few weeks ago, and managed to make it back to the UK intact.  Reckons Terry is very mellow, pensive and easy going these days - in the photos I've seen the old lion mane is very absent but the psychotic twinkle still there. Quite different from my experience of weekday evening sessions at Simons Wine Bar in the early 90s.

I once saw us play Vancouver Whitecaps at the Dell with (bizarrely) Jimmy Greaves making a guest appearance for the Saints. Think we must have drawn as I seem to recall a US style shoot-out at the end. Must be well over 40 years ago.

That was my first ever Saints match, 1979 or 80. Still have the pink coloured programme in the loft. Alan Ball also played and David Harvey was in goal for Whitecaps, I think Bruce Groballar (sp?) too. I also remember the 35 yard shootout,  so either a draw was contrived, or it was an exhibition thing.

On my ipad I had the same problem when copying a picture . I found that turning the ipad through 180 degrees the picture looks the same but when copied the picture was the right way up.

Yes, think that was the preferred bolthole. I was in there once on a school night and Hurlock, Adams, Horne, and Dowie were really tying one on, Dowie struggling a bit to keep up. He exited the upstairs toilet as I passed him, tripped and went down the staircase headfirst. Happy more gentle times when the players were fully embedded in the community.
