washsaint Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 This is horrible. Walking football at its worst and wide open down Walker-Peters side again. Really incomprehensible how different this side now looks compared to the wonderful unbeaten run 3
Tommy Mulgrew Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Death by a thousand passes so far, with us just as likely to die as Blackburn. 1
Saint Fan CaM Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Blackburn with a player down already. Not sure - maybe ok?

But as ever, let's never let facts get in the way of a good whinge. "No but....yeah but.....no but......"

We do this a lot, as if we've forgotten how to attack. Then the opposition gets the ball and quick few passes and they create a chance. Why can't we do that? 1

Blackburn are tosh, but they still get an easy (unchallenged) opportunity to maraud down our right hand side. If the winger could pick a man out we might be behind. It's that kind of defending that keeps fucking us.
AlexLaw76 Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Brooks offers nothing what so ever in defence - maybe by design. It is Aribo covering when they break
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Couple of decent runs form both sides. Looks like their regular goalscorer is still struggling.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Front three and midfield three playing like strangers.
macca155 Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Oh this is desperate, walking football, no zip, no passion. Aribo has tried but the rest seem bereft of ideas. 3
Chez Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 he may have his failings, but Baz really is good coming off his line and using his box to cover our back four. 1

Mr X Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 We look completely lethargic and devoid of ideas but hey we have 70% possession and that's all that matters 1
Saint Fan CaM Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 This is utterly boring stagnant football from Saints.
BotleySaint Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Incredible to think we prepare for games in advance. Yet when we get out there, nobody has a clue what to do. 2 2
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Possession is the first priority of MartinBall. We're trying another variation of how to make that effective today. Keeping the strength in midfield with Aribo, but not up front with Che. Having a samey, but hopefully more mobile front 3 in Brooks, AA and Fraser. Losing the crisp, short passing game but hopefully allowing more direct play through Stephens and Rothwell. 1
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 A different injury to a Balckburn player. Shame that Joe's effort didn;t go in or bounce back off the keeper and go in.
BotleySaint Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 A sharper striker is following up the Aribo header. 1
Saint Fan CaM Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Aribo heads onto the bar - completely soft if that goes in, but at least the ball went forwards!
Chez Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 (edited) great move from one end to the other and Aribo almost scoring. I get bored of people moaning about our overpassing, but that is exactly what the point of it is. Edited 6 April, 2024 by Chez 1

Sheaf Saint Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Anybody managed to find a stream that doesn't freeze every 5 seconds?

Saint NL Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Nearly conceded a long ranger, at that end where LeTiss smashed one in

Holmes_and_Watson Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Oh... that wasn;t far away from them. Top of the net.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 We’ve resorted to defenders trying long balls to our powder puff forwards, bypassing midfield entirely. Completely ineffective of course. Naturally Blackburn close to scoring on the break.
Chez Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 2 minutes ago, Mr X said: Well it sure as shit ain't working! we have created two great chances. AA misses a tap in and Aribo hits the bar. That said, could easily be one down there. Great chance for Blackburn to lob Baz.
John B Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Five loanees and no Acadamey youngsters in the starting XI shows how we have regressed over the last few years. I know most Championship clubs have loanees but I wish we had more players we had scouted and s[gned 1
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Press worked on Aribo. Partly as we're not creating the passing angles in midfiled in recent games. Needs Smallbone and not Stephens in a team for that.
hypochondriac Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 No Adams and Armstrong up on his own and we play the same shit we have done before. Another ineffective and frustrating result?
Mr X Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 It's almost like we need to one nil down to jolt us into life!
obelisk Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Blackburn starting to realise that pressing Saints' walking football will yield chances. 2
Chez Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 my word they are five on three here. Two Rovers unmarked in the six yard box. Bloody hell. Good job THB cuts the cross out.
madge Posted 6 April, 2024 Posted 6 April, 2024 Some good opportunities to break quickly and yet we knock it back and sideways.. this isn’t thoroughbred football.. it’s nodding donkeys in a farmyard. Players are being stagnated by this no risk football.. 4
