At the end of the day, Saints are (for major parts of the game) streets ahead of other teams.  Unfortunately, they rarely do it for the whole game and are so profligate in front of goal.  We seem to need 6 chances to score.

ANd how the hell is tat a red card for Bree?  The Ipswich player dived and THB was there to cover.

We're a good striker away from challenging for the autos. We signed one. Sadly he'd been injured for 8 months prior. State of our permanent recruitment.

It doesn’t matter if it’s near the post or not. When a shot is hard, low and from close range it’s very, very difficult to get down to it at all. Doesn’t matter if it’s one meter away or three, you’ve still got the same distance downwards to travel.

But in this instance, you can see Baz reacted very late, and had he not done so he probably would have saved it. So again it comes down to his positioning and his reactions, neither of which are very good.

Anyone that thinks we realistically have a shot of the top two is delirious. 😂

You can see why Man United wanted our Director of Football.

how can we be so in control of a match and then up hanging on with ten men

Same could be said for most of our games. We just don't take our chances and are soft at the back. Everything inbetween is fine though!

So who's to blame?

Russell Martin?

Recruitment?

Players missing opportunities on a plate?

....... Bazunu?

That’s the foul of a player that doesn’t trust his goalkeeper to make a save.

I wouldn't want Bree letting him through there if Lev Yashin was in goal. It wasn't a red IMO but it was the right call to make the foul.

That very dim candle has been snuffed out this evening :(

I think it was snuffed out around a month ago when we decided to give away nine points to Millwall, Hull and Bristol City.

That didn't help, of course, but we still had things in our own hands despite that. Dropping 4 points over easter is the final nail in the coffin.

This is precisely why we won't get past the playoff semis. We struggle so badly to close out meaningful games when we are well on top.

Agree. We don’t have the bottle for the big games.

That lack of target man has cost us so many games this season.

Came here to say that.

Not having a competent target man has been a catastrophe. Adams was OK today but as soon as he’s got tired and gone off we have been utter shit.

Shocking recruitment
