Crazy game, great ending. We were superb going forward, could be more clinical still, but at the back a mess. Manning really does need swapping for Bree asap. Bree is actually better with crosses and passing, let alone defensively. Or put Meghoma at LB and Bree RB until KWP fit again. Disrupting the JB/THB partnership is not smart.

Their caretaker manager I remember scoring a worldie at SMS in 2001 - check this out for a 25 yard monster  https://www.premierleague.com/video/single/863857

I think I was there with my Ipswich supporting mate.

Their first goal, yes Manning is too far across (he's behind you!). And then one angle of the finish shows he deflected it enough to make the save improbable. Bad play and unlucky.

I  wanted to dissect that play again because it is easy to say that open man should be covered by our LB. So the conventional thought would be Manning is to blame.

Is it something as simple as Manning just switched off? Or is there something else there, because Manning looks like he is actually marking a man centrally that our CB (cant tell who it is) seems to have either decided 1) is not his responsibility or 2) is unaware he is there and Manning has stepped up or 3) has decided to intentionally play him offside and cut him adrift (if it is 3, Manning shouldn't be anywhere near there)

Just putting it out there as it is easy to just say if an opponent is wide open on the right, the LB is 100% at fault. Maybe something more complicated is causing the breakdown (back 4 organization, communication (lack of), etc.

Not sure. Maybe a few more technical posters on here could weigh in.

I also think it was the game the Delgado best bits video was played at HT because we'd just signed him.

The problem is that it keeps on happening with him.

Jamie Carragher doing some analysis on John Stones popping up in the opposition box yesterday from centre back saying that it's something we haven't seen in English football before.

He obviously wasn't watching the Jack Stephens masterclass on Saturday.

It's pretty obvious that it's how we're trying to fit Stephens into the side, I don't feel particularly comfortable with that if I'm honest. We've got good enough attackers without him getting in the way.

We tried it at home to Millwall, he played everywhere, I think it confused the hell out of us. It's not as if he's playing particularly bad, he's not, it's just an odd way to deploy him when we have good enough attackers to do the same role.

We often have a defender deployed high up the pitch, normally it would be KWP. Jack was an excellent out ball on a few occasions v Birmingham, he also travelled will with it. I thought it was an interesting tactical move and in the main worked really well.

Yeah Jack was superb on Saturday, excellent on the ball and driving the team forwards 🙂

A last minute winner on Saturday was just the ticket 🙂 four well taken goals from Arma, Adams, Brooks and Aribo 🙂 Brooks goal in particular was sublime 🙂 as RM pointed out afterwards we have to be better defensively, we have to be more solid. We need to get back to being defensively sound. COYR 🙂
