FarehamSaintJames Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 Will Smallbone as a holding mid fills me with little to no confidence in the centre. 😂 What does he have to do to get dropped?

Toadhall Saint Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 Interesting that both Bree and Manning are on the bench. 1
Harry_SFC Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 Much more like it apart from Smallbone at CDM. Hopefully we will get away with it given it looks like Millwall are coming for a draw.
bpsaint Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 Can’t believe he’s dropped Manning and ArmA, maybe he reads the forum. 3
captainchris Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 Not quite sure why Charles is so detested by RM…. 1
Wade Garrett Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 Fair play to Martin for ringing the changes. 1

He’s a holding midfielder by nature, has a physical presence and puts a tackle in; and dare I say it a forward pass too. 2

egg Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 That's our best team at the moment. Our front 3 will have far too much for them. Back to winning ways. 4-1 3

derry Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 If Downes isn't completely fit it's best not to risk him until he is. Aribo, provided he shows the same effort as he did against Hull is an improvement especially physically. The bench looks strong and it's good to see Bree back. It'll be interesting how Brooks plays from the start and if it helps Adams. I personally think Fraser is a better starter. 1
suewhistle Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 At least no Manning or Rothwell, but Hypo, we don't have any defensive midfielders! Perhaps swap Armstrongs at half time as A has been looking weary and S hasn't been up to 90 minutes for ages. If Mara gets on I hope he shows a sight more effort than midweek.

Fucking Saints fans! 😁 Reasonable line up. Changes we wanted to see after that last line up anyway. 2

There would be much gnashing of teeth by some here if Charles had been picked. Need to face it that with Downes out no one is satisfied. To be fair Charles still makes a lot of mistakes, down to, in my opinion, a big loss of confidence early in the season, he will one day be a very good player but does need an extended run in the team in his proper position (CM).
Suhari Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 In a bar in Thailand seeing if they can get the game on one of the screens. Which they won't, because it's a 'Buddha Day' today, meaning all the bars are shut. And there's no alcohol sales. Meaning that the plain, very large thermos mug I have sitting next to me certainly doesn't contain ice-cold beer. Honest officer. Figment of my imagination it all is. The 3-0 kicking we're about to dish out isn't though. Happy with the line up. COYS.
david in sweden Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 It always sounds dramatic to talk about a "must-win games" but this is a really important match for several reasons, ....not least because after Leeds win last night there is a yawning gap opening up for the top two sides that just one win won't bridge quickly. We need to get back to the formula that got us convincing results. Millwall are floating amongst " the dead men" at the bottom, and our recent performances against the likes of Rotherham and Huddersfield left a lot to be desired, and we must get back to " promotion form " and PDQ.

Charles is the least worst option if Downes can't play. No one can seriously suggest otherwise.

Miltonaggro Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 We should have too much for the Bermondsey batty boys, and this line up is much more solid, Bree over Captain Jack would improve it but relieved that Mind the Gap has been hooked. 3-0 Saints and some positivity returned. 1

gio1saints Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 It’s an attacking line up for sure. Can see KWP being encouraged to push push and us to revert to a three at the back. IF KWP does what he does - driving with the ball- both RF & DB might get some passes in dangerous areas - Che please just score when it rebounds out to you from 3 yards. 😁
igsey Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 I'm actually very impressed that he's dropped AArmstrong. KWP or Stephens at LB?

Totton Saint Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 Surely we won't loose two home games on the trot. By the way who is ArMa? I am in a state wondering if I can get a stream link from some kind soul.

FarehamSaintJames Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 Imagine if we played 4-3-3 with an attacking mid rather than a defensive one. Leeds looked amazing with that style yesterday. Their pressing was relentless.

the colonel Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 Lets not forget new manager 'bounce' syndrome or in Millwall's case return of old manager.

saintant Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 Downes is in the training pictures from yesterday so can't be far off.
Guan 2.0 Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 Manning on the Bench. He can't help himself. We are improved when he leaves the field, we don't need to add him to it. 1

Slightly worrying that he doesn't even make the bench, which you'd have thought he might if he was "close" (to coin a phrase) 2
Saint NL Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 Need a convincing win and performance today. Should be able to manage it.... 1
Saint Fan CaM Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 With AA dropped looks like RM had to shoehorn in Stephens at LB, hence Manning on the bench ( I can imagine that’s how Russ spun it to his mate). Thankfully I think Stephens can bluff his way through the game better than Manning. Concerned about Downes to a degree…you’d think he’d be on the bench for some minutes if he was close. Now a start against Liverpool looks unlikely.
AlexLaw76 Posted 24 February, 2024 Posted 24 February, 2024 (edited) Back 3-ish??? Stephens pusing into midfield....with the ball Edited 24 February, 2024 by AlexLaw76
