Sheaf Saint Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Oh FFS stop going on about that non-penalty. It clearly wasn't intentional. 6
adrian lord Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Stupid tater still harping on about the penalty that never was a penalty 3
Harry_SFC Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Sulemena is managers nightmare. Just pass the bloody ball! 1
badgerx16 Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 The commentators keep going on about the non-penalty and that it might have changed the game. Baz would have saved it, so it wouldn't have done. 4 2

If you'd offered me 3 points from this and the BC game I wouldn't have been disappointed. This was the game I was worried about but we've been very professional. And if we'd drawn both games people would be raving about extending our unbeaten run despite getting 1 less point than we have now.... 9

obelisk Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Don't know what I was worried about. That 2nd half was well controlled. Excellent 3 points.
Colinjb Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Far more straightforward then I thought it would be. Great work boys.
Lighthouse Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Three points from this week about par I’d say. Two very tricky away games out the way, gets that ‘away against the better sides’ monkey off our back too. 1
Turkish Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 superb away performance, two quality goals and kept them at arms length aside from that brief spell before half time. Excellent. 5

Sheaf Saint Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Perfect response to Tuesday's blip. Something something... we're shit away at top teams.. something something. 2
trousers Posted 16 February, 2024 Author Posted 16 February, 2024 (edited) Apart from the 15 minutes before half time, that was a masterclass in game control from us. Unbeaten for 1 game! COYR!! Edited 16 February, 2024 by trousers 2 1
Wiggles31 Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Huge win. Great response. Made that quite easy in the end. What a signing Brooks is going to be! 2
Saint86 Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 (edited) Good result in the end there. But shaky for a fair part of it (and we'll need to be better vs the likes of Leeds and Ipswich etc.), but important to get that win and clean sheet. Very good performance by Stu, and credit to Martin with good subs. Aribo looked bright considering his lack of game time in afcon. Reality is not many sides are going to go there and win! Hawkswood Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Cracking result and didn't see this coming after Tuesday. For me, great performances from Stu, Mara, KWP ( and most of the back line actually) and lovely cameo from Joe. Properly chuffed 2
SaintNewForest Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 1 game, 1 game undefeated, 1 game, 1 game I say 2
Toadhall Saint Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Excellent second half and excellent result - well done saints!
Saint_clark Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Happier with 3 points and losing the streak than keeping the streak with 2 draws. 7
Jimmy_D Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Brilliant performance bouncing back from the disappointment of Bristol City. Completely strangled West Brom out of most of the game at a very difficult ground, and two fantastic finishes to win it for us. 1
The Kraken Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Excellent result, and brilliant to bounce back so well. Just remembered that as a young kid I thought WBA stood for West Brom Ajalbion. 1
Miltonaggro Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 There she is! Terrific win Southampton, just the tonic! Fair play to Russell Martin. 4
SNSUN Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Well despite a stomach ache that means a fart could end in disaster and Sky Go using 4g that for some of the game made the screen go all blurry... i enjoyed that. 3
Lee On Solent Saint Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 So much different from Tuesday. Great performance.
adrian lord Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Couldn’t have asked for more. I really like the squad. 3
Whitey Grandad Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Just now, The Kraken said: It doesn’t have to be intentional. And it very much was a pen, it was a big let off. Discretional. Some referees might have given it, others not.
Saint NL Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 All over. Fantastic result 👍 First 30 mins were very good, as we're the last 25. The big in the middle was slightly worrying, but we got through it and even got the clean sheet. The subs were perfect, good management from Russ. WBA were made to look very ordinary, and tbf we should have had 1 or 2 more. Great stuff 3
AlexLaw76 Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Well..FT 0-2. I feared the worst, regardless of what happened on Tues. They have been excellent at home and right up the table. We were outstanding for the first 30 mins, they they came back into it, kind of stayed like that until the subs started. Overall, we were by far the better side. I thought we were wasteful in midfield at times, clearly missing Downes coupled with a terrible Charles (again). Given WBA's obvious style and aerial threat, I thought we defended brilliantly... However, Stu Armstrong was superb, my MoM, with notable shouts to most of the team. 4
Saint Billy Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Phew, great result eventually but not good for anyone suffering from IBS.

His arm was up because he was running at full tilt and it's not possible to run with your arms straight by your side. It wasn't in an unnatural position and there was no movement of the arm towards the ball. He actually tried to move it out of the way. Never a penalty. 5
Micky Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Done. Controlled the game for the most part, tons of positives in there, Stu motm, but lots of good performances in there. Clean sheet as well, good night all round, well done RM and the boys, great start to my weekend.
Verwood Saint Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Tators - Muppetry of the highest order 8
StrangelyBrown Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Quality performance. Dominant aside from that shit 10 minutes before half time. Bloody tater going on and on and on about the handball that wasn't a handball and ignoring the fact that west brom were in our pockets all night and didn't really do anything to threaten us. Stuey was absolute class tonight. 2

stknowle Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Gettin. That’s 2 out of the top 13 we’ve beaten away from home now so top 6 should be a possibility if we keep our home form simmering. 1
Captain Jack Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Of course I would have been a different result if they had been given that 'penalty'. FFS!!! 2
bangkoksaint Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Would we have taken a win and two draws from the last 3? Possibly, so we’re a point better off than we would have been had that been the case. 1
trousers Posted 16 February, 2024 Author Posted 16 February, 2024 Shout out to Aribo who made a huge difference when he came on. 17

Turkish Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 We looked much shaper from the start today. Tuesday we were sloppy, gave the ball away cheaply, today was much shaper and crisper and the subs made a real difference. 1
benjii Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 I think their first touch was when the manager kicked it. So nice to turn up and just suck the life out of the whole crowd and team. 2 2
SNSUN Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 Stu Armstrong is the best looking player in the squad. There I said it. #notgayjustcomplimenting 3

Well all of the pundits disagree with you and I think if VAR is there it gets given. In any case, 0-2, fucking great result. 1

This (And, yes I know @AlexLaw76, being fickle football fans I acknowledge we'd be wanted it awarded if the other way round ) 1
AlexLaw76 Posted 16 February, 2024 Posted 16 February, 2024 The handball, you could see why it may have been given, but very very harsh if so. Nailed-on penalty with VAR, no doubt
