My guess was that Aribo, Downes or Smallbone were supposed to get forward to become the false 9 but it just didn’t work. It might work better with Fernandes but personally I’d rather see us drop Stephens and bring in Archer, especially against teams like Forest or Brentford.

Maybe, but even if that's the case, aribo, smallbone or downes as a false 9 is just as ridiculous. Downes has his role and he does it well. Smallbone did ok last year but he is nowhere near good enough to start in prem. If tomorrow's out field line up is same as last week there is no point even turning up, ramsdale or not

Christ, drama queen reaction to one game!

The same line up that played very well away to Newcastle and had 20 plus shots 80% possession - albeit against 10, but we're well on top before sending off.

A good chance line up will change but anyway...

Think Smallbone could keep his place, played well v Newcastle and was our best player over the last few weeks of last season - one so so game isn't the end of his prem career I'm sure

Serious question and  off topic, but seeing you mentioned ale can you still get Gales HSBC in Hants?.

Sort of. Brewed by the Asahi-owned Fuller's.

So no, really.

Ings on a free hypothetically would you be happy with that or should we be aiming higher striker wise?

I mean if Ings came in and gets the goals that keeps us up it's job done and brandy and cigars all round....

Surely there must be some going out. Staplewood is going to be overcrowded

We are building a squad for the future as well as the now. Unfortunately Ings doesn't fit either category, if he did he wouldn't be going for free

Brentford rather chuffed with Meghoma. Their manager seems to be suggesting he'll be helping the first team this season.

Yeah, this one doesn't sit well with me at all. Can't help but feel we have messed up by not giving him more opportunities in a period when the other specialist left backs we have played have not been great by any means.

As fans, I think we need to appreciate how much Dragan Solak is investing into Saints. We wouldn’t be able to buy some of these players without his money. Markus undoubtably saved us from oblivion but Dragan has invested lots and we seem to take it for granted.

Should expect a top ten finish this season. that would be the minimum acceptable

Edozie has loan offers from:

Sheffield Wednesday
Swansea City

+ two unnamed Championship clubs

Wednesday would be a great choice. Great manager in Rhol and the chance to link up with Shea.

Maybe he could play for both Sheffield clubs. United at the weekend and the other one on one day during the week

Swansea would be good for him. Luke Williams is RM’s old assistant manager, plays the same style and Swansea likely to be in mid-table purgatory so little pressure and plenty of minutes, you’d think

I knew he wasn't happy but I hoped it was solvable as he looked good in the cup games last year let's hope he doesn't score against us

And if we had somebody playing central up front in the Newcastle game we may have done even better and not lost. But to line up at home against a team that's going to be in and around the bottom and play that way not acceptable. And to score 5 midweek, appreciating it's cardiffs reserves and Russ to say we played too safe at times is laughable. Can't remember the last time the entire midfield were looking to attack instead of the easy ball
