Lazy journalism still linking us to JWP. I doubt the club are even entertaining the idea. Left at the start of RM career with us, doubt he is interested

Ramsdale all but done.

Cornet pending with Fab and ExWHUEmployee saying we've won the race

Still fancy a forward to join from no where later on, an interesting day to come.

Hope we can keep hold of Kyle too, but can see Villa coming in for him after Cash got injured last weekend.

I still think we lack a real striker who plays up the middle, is strong, holds the ball up well and shoots from anywhere because it's an instinctive part of his game. It absolutely goes against the grain but right now i would be delighted if we announced INGS!

Don't forget, Ross '2 weeks' Stewart is only 2 weeks away from seeing the grass.

But wouldn't it be great if he came back, and could repeat the form he showed in those games for Sunderland in the Championship. A classic "like a new signing"

Birmingham after Stansfield for 9-10m think he will be great there . He scored great goal against us and looked good but too similar to Archer for that money?

He was my pick had we stayed down, good player - would be a fun one to develop, similar to Jay Rod.

Not good enough for where we are now though. But he's way better than L1, obviously will be the highest paid player in L1 too. Should score stacks of goals, Birmingham would have failed miserably this season if they don't hit 100+ points.

If JwP came back he would be a starter every game.

Doubt that very much after our recent signings of Downes, Fernandez and Big Les.

I remember saying that about 4 times last season.

The bloke is fucked. A real shame for him, but we need to move on and not consider him as an option.

I'm not the biggest fan of JWP but of course he'd have started.

You may be right but that would mean leaving out one of Downes, Big Les and Fernandez. I don't think it would take many games before  the fans would be questioning why JWP was starting and I get that he was a great servant for us. Just don't think he's be a starter for us with our present options as he's too much of a safe ball recycler which is the last thing we need right now.

Cornet could be a great signing if he is anything like he was for Burnley against us, when he was Antonio levels of unplayable. My fear is that he might be one of those many players who specialise in playing well against us but are otherwise not that good.

I feel his PL knowhow would be useful. I totally agree with his safe at all costs passing sideways backwards would be a negative. Funnily enough when I think NJ played him in a breaking forward role he was very good. For some reason that idea was stopped

Spending £10m in League 1 is ridiculous. I’ll laugh if they don’t win that league by about 30 points.

Isnt he a friend of one of our coaches?

Jeez, you seem to think one performance against Cardiff reserves and Big Les is the second coming.  Kind of thing that's worth bookmarking for later.

Ah yes, a phenomenon known in scientific circles as 'The Scowcroft Paradox'

Happy to be moving on from JWP. Great servant, club legend but we’re building something for the future here. I was always tought by a mentor of mine to always move forward in my career even if the opportunity to go back to something familiar presented itself.

I think it’s good for the club to do the same thing. Small exception for Lallana given where he is in his career and the coaching aspects.

As is your opinion of him that he didn't look much against Cardiff. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

I don't understand the link between Cornet coming in as a replacement for KWP.  Cornet played as a winger or straight up top for Burnley (as he did when scoring thohse goals against Saints).  So why are people saying that he is left wing back?  He is not a defender of any kind in my books.

He covers LWB. If KWP goes, Taylor is your LB/LWB and Manning your reserve. Cornet gives cover at LWB in the same way the wee man did. KWP is replaced at RB/RWB with Bree the reserve.

Chelsea and United making progress on a deal for Jadon Sancho, apparently. Will require Raheem Sterling to go somewhere... Arsenal? I'd take him on loan if I were them, can't see them buying him though

More likely to be a genuine deal I would think. Unless we are signing Toney 😉

Just trying to wrack my brain as to who Brentford have going spare haha

Surely this is the perfect opportunity to make use Goztepe. It solves three problems in my mind:

1. It strengthen them massively. He's already proven he's more than capable in the Turkish league

2. It gets him off our wage bill

3. And obviously most importantly, it sticks both fingers up at Trabzonspor for being such smug twats, by not only not giving them the player for cheap, but by actively loaning to a club they'll play against this season.

Good post. And couldn't Goztepe give us a massive loan fee to help with FFP?

The Chelsea squad situation is intriguing, they've got 4 senior international players there, on probably £500k a week between them who have been told they won't play a min if they don't leave (they won't even be registered).

Sterling, Chalobah, Chilwell, Fofana, Broja - Broja will probably end up staying as he's injured again.

Sterling, Chilwell and Chalobah have to leave though, surely? Fofana is worth a punt for a top champ club.

Al-Ahli spunking money around, offering £40m for Ivan Toney now, after also agreeing over £65m for Osimhen...

Soon the clubs in Saudi will have genuinely quality squads, rather than just a few icons here and there.

Sad to say but will  this will help or hinder Toneys gambling addiction. All that money.........................

I presume (and hope) as long as it's registered by 12 they could announce tomorrow if they wanted and still play new arrivals.

Yep. We could (in theory) announce him when the line ups are announced. The key thing is registering him in time.

Yup.

Looking on Amazon, you can get a Hagrid fancy dress costume on Prime delivery.  So if they ordered yesterday, it will arrive by about 1pm.

Therefore, I expect the announcement at about 2pm.

You might be right but why the f*** do people think an announcement has to happen before 12pm...as long as the paperwork is done all is fine. 🤦

Yeah, but with £325k per week wages... they will need some financhial help.

The Ramsdale signing feels like a real statement of intent from Russ. I know he was very quick to defend Gav last season but I truly believe it's because he was the best we had. Not because he was his first choice.

Remembering Bazunu was brought in prior to Russ's appointment I thnk this speaks volumes about his true opinion on the matter. If he felt Gav was a nailed on number 1 we wouldn't have aimed quite so high on bringing in a replacement. Nor permanently.

I think this is going to go down as one of the best bits of business we've done for the longterm future of the club in over 10 years.
