I just don't know where he fits. It feels like we've moved on from him as a squad.

If it's a choice between attacking reinforcements and JWP I'd almost certainly float to the attacking reinforcements.

Does Ward-Prowse not count as an attacking reinforcement? He's not a striker obviously, but has an average of 8.5 PL goals per season over the last four years - it wouldn't surprise me if none of our forwards got that many this year.

Interesting way to look at it. You're right, scoring 8 he might easily be top or second top scorer.

I can understand the sentiments but Edozie is our go to on the left. His footwork is dazzling but his output is below zero. He needs sending out on loan to learn beating his opponent means nothing if the resulting pass if there is one goes to an opponent. Fraser is a good footballer that utilises his lack of pace by checking out onto his right foot and putting in dangerous accurate balls.

I'm with you on Edozie. I love that he is willing to try to beat players, but his judgement as to what is achievable isn't great, which leads to him running into the second or third defender. He could make it as Prem player, but I didn't see any real improvement over the course of last season. He might simply just not be quite good enough.

I'm not Fraser's biggest fan. He's too ordinary for my taste, lacking pace and tracks. I think his crossing is overrated, but what he does do is make lost of off the ball runs on the shoulder of the full back. Some are found some not, but he at least is giving midfielders an option. As we saw with England this summer, if you don't have the off ball movement, the ballplayers have no one to pass to.

We seemed to be loaded with decent (for the championship) wide player last season, but we have failed to upgrade ion that position and now look a little flat. If we continue to pose little threat, it won't be long before people are calling to see Sulemana get another chance!

Always thought Ward-Prowse as a bit of a luxury player - one that a relegation scrapping club could not afford in the side. Not changed that view even though his free-kicks would come in handy. Think we’ve moved on - at least I hope we have.

All gone quiet on Yuri Alberto - guessing with the logistics etc that will not happen now...and I guess our budget is significantly different than it was when we though Bijlow was coming in.

The winger from Toulouse seems to be the most likely attacking addition.

Alfred House at the Echo seems to be hinting at some interest in Manning.

This could surely only be from Goztepe or Valenciennes…

that would be the kind of ruthless some have called for. Only making the bench yesterday was a clear sign he isn't getting any game time this season unless injuries occur. Also, maybe a sign there is movement with Fraser - assuming we are still interested.

Or it could be that they are 5 or 6 hours behind us and there is no new news... 🤞

You mean he isn't gutted to be leaving the bestest and the dugouts??

Quite like him as a person. Proper shithouse on the field though. Kind of surprised Everton have managed to get a fee for him. Or did his goal draught come to an end last season?

I've always felt JWP plays better as an '8' rather than a '6', that's for sure....

I can see why he'd go. We've got Suguwara, KWP, Taylor and Bree. Stephens and THB can also cover full back if rqd.

Either Bree or Manning will go. I think the club were fully expecting KWP to go, which is why we acted pretty sensibly to bring in Suguwara early doors - but it looks like we'll have to fit both in. Not a bad position to be in.

He can do that role, I've always thought he's better in advanced midfield off of the right. We do win our fair share of corners and free kicks too, so potentially JWP for his delivery alone is worth a fair few goals.

It's a odd way of looking at it, but we could look at it as buying a specialist number 9 to score goals (we're shopping in the dregs now with very limited $$$), or we bring in a set piece specialist on loan to bring more out of what we have. (and he will add goals himself)

I still think it's intriguing that the all but certain loan deal for Ramsdale is actually a perm. They're keeping that slot free for something.

More likely. It's only 9am in Sao Paulo

There's defo some valid logic in that...

I guess there was some logic to his signing at some point....RM knew exactly what player he was getting...

Interesting that there are a lot of rumours about Livramento being named in the upcoming England squad.

Goes to show that a year or two with Saints, show what you can do and then you'll get your big move and international call up.

yesterdays update was they want to loan arthur cabral from benfica for the year before they will allow us to get yuri

Just had a quick search and the Benfica manager did a press conf about 45 mins ago where he said that Cabral doesn't want to fight for a spot in the squad and wants to leave and that they're open to him going... so might be movement to make this possible

My take on JWP is that had he stayed last season Smallbone would have not got a look in at least not on a regular basis. I like Smallbone and kind of hoped he could kick on and become almost a natural replacement for JWP but there are sufficient question marks about his capacity to do do at this level. I like his late arrivals in the box last season and he ultimately did us proud in the play-offs, but Id swap in a heart beat for JWP.

saw this in the valenciennes thread

"Daouda Traoré to be transferred from Nice to Southampton... then loaned out to Valenciennes"

I was going to suggest Manning out and Omar Richards straight in, but Richards has joined Rio Ave in Portugal on loan for the season.

Makes complete sense assuming KWP stays.

We will have KWP and Taylor ahead of him.

Carsley just name-dropped KWP in his England press conference as a player he's impressed with; a defender who is also comfortable playing in midfield. FFS Lee, at least let us get the window out of the way before you raise his profile!

The Forest chairman coming to hijack the Ramsdale deal?

Forest have hijacked Ramsdale already, so we've put on a private jet to fly one of their current GK's down for a medical.

Don't know.  Do they still have that big lump of a forward who only ever scores against us?  German or bought from a German side anyway.

Awoniyi is still there. Absolutley skied his penalty last night, it's still in orbit.
