Kyle Walker Peters

If you'd asked me last summer, I'd have said he'd be one of the few players I'd want to have kept and I'd also have said we'd have precisely zero chance of him staying with us. We are now going to be keeping him for the season which makes him an absolute legend in my eyes. He's an England quality fullback playing in a league he is miles too good for. In this modern era when it's hard to feel anything for any of our players I really think he deserves recognition for paying the fans back after last year and doing what he maintained he was always happy to do. Good enough to play for England and he's signed up for a year in the second division just to help us out. What a ruddy hero.

Agreed.

Needs a song!

Saw one on Facebook that I thought might catch on...

“He’s a star man running down the right…..

His name is Walker-Peters and he’s f**king dynamite 🧨 "

David Bowie - Starman

I'll see if I can find the other but we seriously need some decent players songs around St Mary's imo

Best news of the window.

I'd say it was the best news since relegation. He's a huge reason why supporting saints has been fun again this year. If we do go up he's going to be remembered in the same breath as the likes of Lambert and Fonte for me. A modern day club legend even if he's off next summer.

Hard not to have tremendous respect for KWP, and an appreciation for his willingness to play a year in the Championship - seemingly not complain or agitate for a move, and maintain high levels of skill and influence which are a huge part of the Club's success this season.      Best of all though, he comes across as a character with decent values and a grounded temperament and  plays with a smile on his face.

Watching the telecast towards the end of the Watford FA Cup tie, the camera switched to KWP on the bench.   He was standing, applauding and encouraging the team as they pressed for a late winner, totally engaged and committed.     He really is a modern day club legend in the making.

When you think we had Cuco Martina playing for us in the Prem and now we have KWP playing for us in the Championship... football can be fucked up sometimes. Madness. We are very lucky to have him.

I honestly thoight he'd be one of the first out the door last summer. And I wouldn't have blamed him at all.

Far too good for this level. He went from the edges of the England squad to the championship in 6 months. With seemingly no complaints about staying, and buying into what we're doing.

What a man. What a footballer. Lucky to have him.

People have been singing that at away games for a while. Weirdly it never fully catches on at home despite being easy to remember.

I guess it's because it doesn't slag off Pompey or mention libraries so the Stone Island yoof in the Northam don't think it's worth singing.

The guy is absolutely brilliant. Hope we can keep him if we go up.

If we do go up, first thing the club need to do is offer him a vastly improved contract. He might have higher suitors above us, but would be great if we could keep him.

Would be brilliant but no one could blame him if he then wanted a top six team. My spurs supporting brother in law is sick that they ever got rid of him.

Nope, I am fully expecting him to go even if we get promoted. However if he does want to stay then surely we've got to make him the top earner at the club? He must be sick knowing what someone like Alex McCarthy is making whilst doing sod all.

Absolutely. He's going to be in demand I would of thought. At least if we manage to go up it keeps us in the conversation

Absolutely - perhaps, just perhaps he feels like he owes it to us and himself to give 100% to give us the best shot at getting back to the prem first time round. Well that’s the impression I get from him.  Would have been so easy to fook off but no that’s not his way - made of sterner stuff.👏

Off you go then, let’s hear your original composition in E minor

Done it loads of times, to the tune of Raspberry Beret by Prince

His name is Kyle Walker-Peters,
Brought him from Tottenham but we should've paid more.

His name is Kyle Walker-Peters,
England's best full back who we all adore.

Edit to say: Ah balls you said E Minor when Raspberry Beret is in D, so you'd need something like Paranoid by Black Sabbath or Come as you are by Nirvana to be in E Minor.

Although Franz Ferdinand Take Me Out is in E minor is of the right era for a lot of our fans and the chorus could work

I say, don't you know?

Walker Peters on his own

He will, TAKE US UP

Final edit:

Just realised Elanor Rigby is in E Minor (i mean so is Seven Nation Army but god alone knows we've used that one waaaay too much)

So,

Kyle Walker Peters
Picks up the ball and he runs down the wing
Southampton sing
Kyle Walker Peters
Wearing Saints famous red and white
He's dynamite

Ohhh
We've got Kyle Walker Peters
A hero for the scum

You've got to get to the pre-match pubs the Saints fans all go to and get this going. Otherwise we'll be left with 16-year-olds singing about libraries ;)

I've said before and will say again that deserves to catch on, although I'm sure Prince's version is in A major.

Trying to work him into Pulp's Common People

You'll never play like Kyle Walker Peters
You'll never do whatever (Kyle) Walker Peters will do
You'll never score like Kyle Walker Peters
You'll never watch your life slide out of view
And you dance and drink and screw
Because there's nothing else to do

You'll never do whatever Walker Peters will do
You'll never score like Walker Peters
And Kyle says that Pompey's a pile of poo
And you can stick them up your bum
Cos Kyle hates the pompey scuuuum.

Gangnam Style - 2 players, one song.

Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Walker-Peters Style,

Heyyyyyyyy Adam Armstrong,

Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Walker-Peters style.

Everyone has to do the moves too or we lose our position as the most macho club in the country.

I'd have rather had this year's back line line last year than the one we had.

What I find amazing is that in these two transfer windows, the links have been quiet/non-existent. He's just got his head down and asked his agent to shut down any interest.

He is one of the best, if not the best player in the Championship for me. He'd improve at least half the Prem.

I'm not naive to think he'll stay if we fail to go up this year, but even keeping him for a year is such an unexpected situation. He's way too good for this level, it's ridiculous he's still here.

Could resurrect the old Lallana chant...

He plays on the left

He plays on the right

Kyle Walker-Peters

Makes (Cafu)? look shite

Lots of potential chants for him, it's a sad reflection of our fanbase that none have really taken off for the one guy we should be showing loads of love to.
