Agreed sullemana is even worse why isn't he out the door?

He is on PL level wages, foreign teams that would want him will struggle to afford to match them. Plus Saints paid £20m+ for him relatively recently, they won't want to make a big loss on him.

Signed him and Charley in the same window didn't we?

True he needs to step up then as so far all he's done is show he has pace and not much else!

I liked him but he obviously just didn't fit. He joined a bonkers club at a bonkers time but he did ok. Wish him all the best.

Grow up. We’ve got decent money for a player who struggled in the Championship last season.

Expand

And kept a few others who didn't struggle, but only because their game doesn't revolve around actually doing anything of note.

Wouldn’t be a surprise if that was why we were easily accepting of him being shown the door. He was at the centre of the scrap after the final whistle at Stoke last season, getting a bit silly in the pre season game probably confirmed the clubs concerns with his underlying mentality.

He came on as a sub in flamengo's copa libertadores 1st leg, qrtr final loss to peñarol this evening. A certain G. Ramirez also made a substitute appearance for the Uruguayans'.

Different manager last season, him and Sulemana would have played every game in a style of play that prioritises driving forward with the ball and started this season drastically improved players.

So is our scouting really at fault?

Tall Paul would look like Pele in another team...ok, maybe that's stretching it, but Alcaraz was the closest thing to Tadic we've had since...well...Tadic

I expected him to tear up the Championship after some bright Premier League appearances, but he didn't. He didn't fit our managers style at all, so was moved on for a profit. The club have made a lot of mistakes in the past three years, but I can't say that's he's one of them. Just because he scored from 8 yards tonight doesn't mean the club were wrong to sell.

Happy for Charlie, always rated him but as soon as Lego came in he was on the outs.

Think premier League suits his style and can see Everton making his move perm if he gets a couple more goals.

Tadic would of been kicked out as well for risking losing the ball too often by trying to be an assist machine.

Funnily enough looks the good player he was when he first arrived playing to his strengths under an experienced manager, not a prick who has managed for 5 minutes with a ‘philosophy’ and whose teams concede a million goals.

The fact Martin couldn't get the best out of him, even in the Championship, says it all about why in hindsight we should've binned him off after the play off final.

He looked poor in the Championship, Juventus didn't rate him and nobody in the PL wanted to buy him in summer. Selling him allowed us to buy Ramsdale and we've got Fernandes in his position, who is a far better player.

Let's not get too excited because a rebound fell to his feet eight yards out against Palace.

For me it was the fact we couldn't beat Rotherham at home despite 80% possession, but yeah, we ended up reaching the same conclusion.

I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly, are you saying Fernandes wouldn't have been much of a loss to this team?

I find it depressing when people use the ''we got a profit'' ''he allowed us to buy x'' lines to try and justify a sale, it's a truly depressing way to think about anything. We shouldn't give a shit about money, finances. All we should care about is having the best players on the pitch and watching a game that's enjoyable, which is what we pay for at the end of the day. I don't pay money to watch us to then get a hard on about how much we sell player x for.

Charly was grossly misused under Martin, very much the same way as Charles. He was too much of a maverick for Martin which says more about him than it does Charly.

So you’d prefer to have Alcaraz in this team, with McCarthy in goal?

You can add Sulemana, Les Ugo and Onuacho to the misused players under Martin.

Fans complain about players not having loyalty anymore, but we pushed out two players with great attitudes who wanted to stay, Alcaraz and Tino

Honestly, yes. Ramsdale hasn't been £25million worth of goalkeeping performances so far and when we go down he's going to jump ship again anyway.

We’ve got NINE points. Nobody would have been much of a loss to this team.
Fernandes 1 goal and 2 assists have produced a grand total of 0 points.

Alcaraz has got 1 goal and 1 assist in 1 start for Everton.

I've always been a fan of Charly, although I think a lot of that feeling steams from the fact that he was our only shining light in a shambles of a PL season.

He's not the most disciplined of players, he'll go on a walkabout and do his own thing - which can work out in some sides, but when you're in a team that employs a structure - which most teams do (no matter how many agree or disagree with that) you cannot have someone just doing their own thing sadly.

I'm sure other clubs see the same limitations in him which is why he's not sought by any other English or European clubs. The move to South America will be good for him, culturally and footballing wise. I doubt we'll ever see him back in Europe, but I'll keep an eye on his progress for sure.

Expand

I think people need to remember that just one page back is the receipts of how we felt when he left. Although it’s much more fun and easier to just talk with the benefit of hindsight.
