I imagine someone had got hold of the news, he'd already informed Liverpool back in November so they'd done well to keep it quiet for this long.

Best to announce something like that on your terms than have it leaked via Murdoch.

End of an era for Liverpool, not quite sure where they go from here. Their 'stars' (Salah, VVD, Robertson, Alison etc) are getting older and their squad as a whole is as weak as it's been for a long time imo - they're only up there as the league is pretty poor overall this year.  There is talk of Xabi Alonso going there, but I can see that ending in tears.

Glad I caught this here, before all football sites and sports media close down for a week of mourning.

I was going to wonder if the announcement might have any bearing in their form. But I couldn't care less really.

If the owners are looking for someone to deliver outside expectations on a lower budget, we know of someone who is pound for pound the best at that. And available!

He has announced he is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. Why on earth announce it publicly now?

Bit slow on the uptake Soggy. The CoT dropped enough hints last week, old news.

well remember Duckie.

The loan ranger ran for 5 series, the exact same number major trophies Klopp won for liverpool and for 9 years, which is the exact number of years Klopp will be manager when he goes. The series was created by Fran Striker, which is where Klopp played when he was player. Im sure it's all just yet another amazing coincidence that the clues and facts match the story exactly though 🙄

Got a great Idea how to honour him between now and when he fucks off.

Every time Liverpool are on tv, cut to his gurning mug every few seconds, unlike what they do at present.

In his 9 years as Liverpool manager Bob Paisley won 6 league titles and 3 European Cups, with 3 League Cups, 6 Charity Shields, and 1 European Super Cup to go along with them.

Klopp became manager of Liverpool 8 months before Pep took over at Manchester City. Under Guardiola City have won 5 league titles, 2 FA Cups, 5 League Cups, 1 Champions League, 1 UEFA Super Cup, 1 World Club Cup, and 2 Charity Shields. ( Plus, in his managerial career he has also won La Liga and the Bundesliga 3 times each, 2 Copa del Ray and 2 German Cups, 2 more Champions Leagues, 3 Spanish Super Cups, 2 Uefa Super Cups, and 3 World Club Cups ).

Klopp's legend is far greater than his achievements.

I'm now sick of hearing about it. The talk is as though he has months left to live.

A caller on the R5L phone in wants a Gerrard, Milner and Henderson dream team 🙈

I can only hope all his dreams come true. 🙂

Yes but City have more money than Liverpool and make it soooo hard for them buying all the good players.

When Man City are stripped of all their silverware, it's only fair that it all be given to the most deservingest club and their quite legendary bestest manager. 🙂

You might not like him (and I don’t) but to deny he’s done a fucking good job is pathetic. He spent 254 million net, to put that in perspective City spent 692mil, Utd 888mil, Chelsea 835 mil, & Arsenal 696mil. With that he won every trophy, gave Liverpool their first title in 30+ years and is probably 3rd behind Shanks & Bob Paisley as their best ever manager.

Dalglish won more as well. Klopp is a bit over-rated tbh.

Don’t talk pony man. Dalglish inherited one of europes best teams, Klopp inherited a side that hadn’t won the league in over 30 years. He’s won everything there is to win in England up against one of English footballs greatest sides, having spent consider less than others. He won the German league twice with Dortmund, to put that in perspective Bayern have won it the past 10 years since.

But yeah, he’s over rated 😂😂😂

A good friend of mine is a typical plastic Liverpool fan. Unlikely to ever get to the city let alone Anfield he completely buys into the Klopp legend.

We had a little falling out at the  time of our League cup 2 legged semi final. If you remember Nathan Redmond played a blinder in the first leg and Puell's tactics out thought Klopp's over the 2 legs. This definitely didn't fit the "legendary Klopp image" and having it pointed out was not what my friend could accept easily.

Documentary being made on his last season now 🙄

Looking forward to watching this now. It's fantastic his farewell tour is going so badly. Of course they'll still make him out to be some sort of genius despite winning the league the same amount of times as Howard WIlkinson and as many league cups as Martin O'Neill.

I've heard the working title is 'meltdown'.

First of all, the title of the thread should say "Jurgen", and clearly many of you do not understand football.

He is simply the greatest person in the history of the world

While absolutely correct, I think this sells Jugen short. As mankind expands into the stars, colonises new worlds and sets up new football leagues, it's safe to say that Jurgen will be the greatest person in the future of humanity (and our new alien chums) too. His documentary should be projected, on a loop, onto the moons of our, and all, of the world's we reach.
