In this final sprint, we have the good fortune to welcome some highly-ranked clubs to the Stade du Hainaut (US Boulogne / Le Mans FC / AS Nancy). At home, we'll need to win as many games as possible, bearing in mind that the day we don't play will be just as important.

(x) Current team ranking

March 2025:
(10) - FC Sochaux Montbéliard (Home)
(6) - Dijon FCO (Away)
(2) - US Boulogne sur Mer (Home)

April 2025:
(7) - FC Bourg en Bresse (Away)
(13) - Quevilly Rouen (Home)
** EXEMPT - VAFC (no match) **
(3) Le Mans FC (Home)

May 2025:
(15) - Paris 13 (Away)
(1) - AS Nancy (Home)
(8) Aubagne (Away)

Winning, winning and more winning must be our main objective until the end of the season.

Hello friends, I hope you're well!

First of all, I hope you enjoy the game against Wolves this afternoon. I'll be watching the game from Valenciennes!

I wanted to share with you the National Championship standings between yesterday and today.

We're still ranked 5th but we're getting closer to 1st place. Yesterday, Nancy and Le Mans won, but there was a match between Orléans and Boulogne that ended in a 1-1 draw.

The race will be intense right up to the final day, and we'll need to pick up as many points as possible. The home games against Boulogne, Le Mans and Nancy will be crucial.

We're not giving up here at Valenciennes!

Allez VA !

Who's it been better for, Exempt or Saints?

Definitely Exempt, they had peace of mind that relegation was inevitable. That's the hope that kills you,

Hello friends!

I hope you're all well?

Today is derby day for Valenciennes, who host Boulogne sur Mer at the Stade du Hainaut.

After last week's unfortunate defeat at Dijon (2-1). Our team must get back to winning ways this evening against the 3rd-placed team in the league. A win would give them a chance to climb back to the top of the table.

Kick-off 7.30pm French time as usual.

Have a nice day!

Allez VA!

Good luck tonight. Any more impressions on Traore? Still only 18 and playing regularly, so hopefully good for his development, even if I doubt we'll see much if any of him at Saints.

My friend, I hope you enjoy the match tonight. I have no doubt that both teams will be playing good football at the Stade du Hainaut.

It's true that we're making great strides up the table, but unfortunately we lost last week, so we're hoping for a win tonight!

The new coach is experienced here in France and I can tell you that the players are listening and working hard every day in training.

Your prediction of 2-0 suits me perfectly!

Thank you my friend, I'm hoping for a good game tonight too.

In my opinion, he could be a good player but at the moment he's not at his best on the pitch.

I can see him doing a few months with the B team next season before potentially playing a few games with the pros.

After last week's defeat VA really need a win to keep some promotion hopes going.

Instead, their first half was tentative anywhere near the final third. A header low, but close to their keeper; a shot well over and a forced snapshot about all they had to show for 40mins.

USB were not only a bit sharper, but got numbers up quickly to make the most of their attacks.

VA did show more urgency towards the break. They're going to have to click more as a unit to turn it around.

There were a few moves that broke down through making the wrong pass, or running out of ideas on the final ball. Some frustration with a lot riding on a win. More guts and drive needed for the second half.

Allez VA!

Massive gaps left in the middle, allowing USB to pick the best of the angles for a shot, and go 2up. That was poor, and you could see the goal coming a mile off.

Shame, one thing that has let VA down this season is scoring enough goals, now the defence are not functioning well. Looks like another season in this division.

Come back is on! I thought the first touch had taken it too far away. But if anything it forced the shot at a tighter angle, beating their keeper.

USB get a third. VA had been pushing up to try for a winner. USB had a decent close range header followed by a through ball that was a warning. When that happened again, their forward did manage to get on the end of it.

A shame that VA didn't do anywhere near enough in the first 45 resulting in having to increase risk to pull it back.

USB not shy in trying to pull players back to get bookings or have contagious outbreaks of cramp.

That's it. From the expressions of the players, there's a feeling of that being the chance of staying in contention gone.

VA got back on level terms through few chances. USB were more of a team. They'd have been a little disappointed to let 2 goals slip, only to be given enough gifts for a third to take one.

Christophe and Fred could shed a light on VA's resources relative to the other sides in the top 6.

What it's bought is a side that's a bit brittle under pressure. Some try too hard and make the wrong decisions. Others play it safe, when there are better options, or play it just too late for it to be useful.

5 minutes before the break, a spell when the subs came on and when they got the goals back were as good as it got. A fair bit of that was down to individuals, rather that a side clicking into gear for a promotion challenge.

A shame that Sport Republic can't clone Rasmus Ankersen. The team he is Chairman of has gone from strength to strength whilst the two overseen by the now departed Kraft have suffered.

I think many of us are equally distraught at there not being more Rasmus' in the world.

But if every club had one, we'd not have the unique vision that's led SR to where they are today.

Back from the stadium, and my first feeling is frustration.

They didn't impress me that much, but in football, it's sometimes realism that makes the difference, and Boulogne must have had 4 or 5 chances to score and put 3 past us.

We had the ball and tried a few things, but it wasn't enough.

The chance of promotion to Ligue 2 slipped further away tonight and we'll need a miracle to reach the play-offs at the end of the season.

We're going to have to think about next season very quickly.

Allez VA !

Football (Valenciennes): Hainaut Stadium Takes a Roller Coaster Ride, and in the End, Everyone Gets Off

The derby against Boulogne-sur-Mer saw one of the biggest attendances of the season at Hainaut Stadium: 8,310 spectators. The setting was incredible, the atmosphere was all-out, but unfortunately, the evening didn't go in favor of Valenciennes, who were beaten after coming from nowhere (2-3) and whose chances of promotion to Ligue 2 are now extremely slim.

"What we want is to move up to Ligue 2!" And in the end, it was the Boulogne fans, nearly 400 of whom gathered in the away section, who cheered their heroes after a match whose outcome had long been uncertain. It all came down to the final moments of regulation time when that devilish Hbouch sent substitute Fatou into space, whose goal definitively extinguished Valenciennes' last hopes.

The red and white Kop was absolutely fraught with emotion this Friday evening. The match was on fire at the start, with the star guests, including himself at the bottom of the Nungesser stand, Jean Louchet, Ahmed Diomandé, and Julien Masson, three players who weren't on the team sheet. At one point, Julien Masson, the embodiment of discretion, even grabbed the megaphone to support the crowd after Boulogne had opened the scoring.

"They were incredible, you wouldn't see that at many clubs."

The halftime light show, set to the sound of Robot Rock by Daft Punk, had sputtered tiny flames, and at 0-2, things suddenly became more complicated. Yet the supporters never gave up. This earned the admiration of Axel Camblan, whose substitute appearance and goal revived Valenciennes' momentum: "They were incredible, you wouldn't see that at many clubs." At Valenciennes, they were. They pushed until the very end, and in the end, they had to swallow their disappointment to thank the players for giving so much.

The Ultras Roisters are not dead, nor did they intend to dissolve themselves—contrary to what has been written. That was never part of their plan. Protesting against the authorities who are threatening to eradicate groups of supporters in Nantes and Saint-Étienne, yes; adopting a sacrificial stance in this debate, no. The banner they unfurled above the Kop at the start of the match was addressed to the Minister of the Interior. "Retailleau: Removing structured groups and recognized interlocutors won't improve anything... Quite the contrary!" Unfortunately, the painting didn't last, and part of the message... dissolved. It was a premonitory sign of an evening at the end of which the Valenciennes residents' illusions would end up being lost.

It doesn’t need to as he’s pilfered from Southampton Football Club to do it.

Well, at least SR put on a light show. That's often been their best contribution. 🙂

They could start by turning the light on at the end of the tunnel we are all in by getting the F out. I freaking hates those useless POS bozos, pardon my French.
