Hello friends, once again we've been through all the emotions in the Coupe de France!

We were leading 2-1 at 90 minutes +6, but Thionville equalised at 2-2 just before the final whistle at 90+7!

A penalty was awarded and VA won 5-4.

Around 80 Valenciennes supporters made the trip.

There's a lot of work to be done, but we hope things will be better by 2025.

Allez VA!

The story of the Göztepe Legendary Bus, the symbol of championships and cups, is with you with the distinction of Göztepe TV.

Here is the curious story of the Göztepe Legendary Bus… July 15, 1997… When a serial killer named Andrew Cunanan killed the famous fashion designer Gianni Versace with two bullets in his head in Miami, USA, the whole world was in shock…
Televisions and radios were reporting the incident as the first news…
We were also driving north from London on the English Autobahn towards a bus depot in the Yorkshire region… Around 14:30 in the afternoon, we heard on the radio that Versace had been killed. It seemed like an ordinary event to us, but we would learn years later that it would help us remember this event and history… Because the reason we went to Yorkshire from the Yeni Asir London office that day was the double-decker English bus that Göztepe still uses today… Yes, the chairman of that time, Aydın Bilgin, wanted us to buy a bus to take the Göztepe footballers to the stadium… First, we looked in London and the surrounding area, but we could not find the desired bus… The garages in London said that there was a high demand for these buses, and especially antique enthusiasts bought these buses for various purposes and took them all over the world… “Where can we find them?” When we said that, they told us to look north… It would take us a day to go north and back, and the newspaper work in the office would be disrupted… We started looking for a bus by calling the ads… Its engine had to be good and it had to be in good condition to go on the road… It had to be able to go at least as far as Turkey… After a week of searching, we found the bus in a garage in Yorkshire where old municipal buses that had been taken out of service were collected. The fact that it was affordable, its engine was in good condition and it was still registered made our job easier… We would just go and take the bus for a spin and if we liked it, we would pay for it and ship it from the Southampton port… So we set off on that July 15th. After a 4-hour journey, our bus was waiting for us, washed and cleaned, from the garage… Its color was not red like the usual London buses, but dark green…

So, to tell you the story behind this banner, it's from a Valenciennes supporter who's aiming to hit the ‘grand slam’ of away games for VA this season (friendly, league, French Cup).

And so far, he hasn't missed a single match since the start of the season, and his banner is displayed on the gates of the visitors' stand at every match.

The bus represents travel and therefore away matches. It looks more like the red London bus, haha.

I'm intrigued to hear your thoughts on Joachim Kayi Sanda please. How good can he be and if it's positive could he end up here?

Oh hi

Oh hi

Good evening Fabrice!

From what I can tell you about Joachim:

- He's one of the players with the greatest potential to develop with us.

- He trained with us at Valenciennes and has always been a good player, diligent both at school and at football.

- He's 18 years old and still has his whole career ahead of him.

- He is captain of the French U19 team

- He has been one of our most-used players since the start of the season (11 games out of 13).

- He's having a bit of trouble this season in the 3rd division because it's a league with a different mentality (aggressiveness, etc.).

I can see him taking his first steps in the 2nd team with you and then, if he establishes himself quickly, making a few first-team appearances.

Has Kayi Sanda signed yet? Not overly promising that he perhaps hasn't been at his best this season, but at 18 years old, it's very young for a centre back and as the French u19 captain he must have something about him!

Great that we are looking to sign young talent. I thought SR had abandoned the policy of spending big on academy/U21 guys after Shields departed.

A little worrying that, although young, he is struggling to play 3rd division football. That said, I am mindful of just how much of a pussy Morgan Schneiderlin was when he first joined us (bottling tackles at Bristol City almost caused me a takotsubo cardiomyopathy), but he obviously developed into one the best players I have ever seen in a Saints midfield. Let's hope this fella follows a similar trajectory. Finding good young CBs is far from easy.

Kayi Sanda:

If KS is anywhere near as good as Morgan Schneiderlin, who played for France for every age group between u16 and u21 inclusive as well as the full national team, I shall be well pleased with this new signing.  Morgan came from Strasbourg, a step up from VAFC, for about £1million IIRC so I suppose £5m is OK, even if I suspect it might have been inflated for VAFC’s benefit (internal SR accounting and all that).

As Chez says, we shall have to wait a couple of years to see some benefit from our outlay.

The latest news is that Joachim is no longer at Valenciennes. I went to see him at training last Saturday and he wasn't there.

I think his arrival will be made official this week.

Thanks. Hope the money will help fund one or two players to get you guys back on track for promotion.

We currently have 2 players on loan:

- Axel CAMBLAN from Stade Brestois 29 (playing in the Champions League this year)

https://www.transfermarkt.fr/axel-camblan/profil/spieler/924800

and

- Ousmane TOURE from Lille OSC (also playing in the Champions League).

https://www.transfermarkt.fr/ousmane-toure/profil/spieler/990732

These are 2 6-month loans.

We are still waiting for a few more players, although our new manager says he wants quality rather than quantity.

I have no doubt that the €5 million will be put to good use here, and it's a very handsome sum indeed.

I hope that both our clubs will enjoy better times in any case.

€5M put to good use ? Pigs will start flying out my butt the time Chorley and SR start making good decisions. No changes from previous owner EZ,we are getting players on short term loans, free transfers or 3rd grade players from obscure leagues.
