In France, it's a bit different, because coaches have an employment contract and that's governed by the Labour Code. The club has agreed that he will no longer coach the first team, so there are now 2 possibilities: either a total breach of contract and a definitive departure from the club or reclassification in the club's other teams. He has coached the B team on several occasions. It remains to be seen what will be decided, bearing in mind that he is currently taking a diploma known as the BEPF (brevet d'entraineur professionnel de football). To continue his training, he needs to be a coach at a club with a level 5 team (National 3), which is the case for our B team. To be continued.

The club has decided not to rush into finding the right man for the job, even if the time management involved raises a number of questions. At least the Valenciennes directors cannot be accused of rushing into things. Three weeks after a disaster at Quevilly-Rouen that cost Ahmed Kantari his job, VA travel to Le Mans without knowing the identity of their new coach. The former VAFC coach, who took over on 26 November, still has no successor, although there was no need to act in a hurry. ‘The club had been transparent about the role of the interim coach. They also told me that they were giving themselves time to find the right person, so it was a conscious decision on their part,’ recalls Stéphane Mangione, who will now play his third match as interim coach after Neuilly-sur-Marne (4-3, N3) in the cup and a 4-2 win over PSG's U23s in the warm-up. Kantari's former assistant is doing his job before handing over the keys to the lorry, even if the more time passes, the greater the expectations surrounding the profile of his carefully considered successor. Short list The short list has been drawn up, a number of candidates have been interviewed and all that remains is to make a decision, but the club seems to have been forced to turn in on itself ever since it began looking for a coach. Three training sessions a week behind closed doors in the French National Championship - is that really serious? VA are in no hurry to find the ideal man, and while they wait for the white smoke to emerge over Mont-Houy, this strategy of taking their time is raising other questions. Fans are astonished that the three-week non-league window has not been used to install a new coach. This confusing timing has been a constant since Sport Republic took over: Jorge Maciel was brought in very late last year and, during the off-season, Ahmed Kantari's confirmation in his post, despite the drop, took so long that we ended up wondering whether the club had not started looking for a plan B. Mathew Banks has left the club When it came to appointing their third coach in a year and a half, the new bosses were all on the same wavelength, no doubt also because the new man had to fit in with the organisation already in place and the abundance of staff. This no longer includes performance director Mathew Banks, who left the club of his own accord and has been replaced by Richard Hunwicks, a former physical trainer in rugby league (Catalan Dragons, Leeds). For the time being, this is the only certainty in a matter almost as breathless as the appointment of the new Prime Minister. LE MANS - VAFC, Friday 8.30pm, live video on lavoixdesports.fr 2
Convict Colony Posted 14 December, 2024 Posted 14 December, 2024 wow not looking good for VAFC after last night, now closer to the bottom than the top of the league. There clearly needs to be a step change there, either: Get rid of chorley and get a better DOF to get more out of this team and a new manager or invest some money and buy some players who will make the difference in the 2nd half of the season. I agree that SR have a chaotic style of manager replacement, why not use the 3 week window or in our case international breaks to give a new manager a bit of time. 1

As for the break it didn’t go so well with Jones and his six weeks.

ChristopheVAFC Posted 14 December, 2024 Posted 14 December, 2024 A statement from Stéphane Mangione (interim coach of Valenciennes) last night: ‘When you take 17 shots in a game, at some point you expose yourself to cracking. But we did the hard part by opening the scoring, a little against the run of play. We decided to change our system against a National 3 team in the French Cup and against PSG's Youth League team, but the opposition wasn't the same and tactically we didn't respond. With a lot of transparency, I think we're where we should be, I think the team is simply showing its limitations. I can be responsible for a lot of things, Ahmed Kantari too, but I can't be responsible for the players‘ feet and at a given moment, when we have to come out under pressure, with, we don't make 3 passes, when we open the score and we have 1 or 2 correct restarts and then, well, we give the ball back to the opponent and we put ourselves in danger, that's it, when you're a coach, you want to assume a lot of things but these facts are difficult. We are going through a difficult period, that's it, within the locker room, even if the locker room is exceptional and is doing well. But I made a speech (...) because during the talk, I asked them to be united, and if it had to bend, not to break. I found that they were exemplary in this register in the first half, or in particular, there was the slip of Jordan (Poha) who was caught by Sambou (Sissoko) and that's this kind of solidarity, these are beautiful values. So I asked them to stay calm, that the highlights of Le Mans would pass, that we could now have our own highlights and I think that's what happened during this first quarter of an hour in the second half. Unfortunately, it didn't last long enough, and it's a recurrence that we concede goals from crosses and there you go, we're not mean enough on the marking, we're not mean enough on the ball carrier, and when we're not able to manage the source or at least manage the arrival..." 1
Convict Colony Posted 14 December, 2024 Posted 14 December, 2024 To be honest the interim manager seems reasonable and makes fair points. ChristopheVAFC Posted 16 December, 2024 Posted 16 December, 2024 https://www.va-fc.com/articles/25758 Quote Vincent Hognon appointed VAFC coach! VAFC are proud to announce the appointment of Vincent Hognon as head coach of the first team. This demanding 50-year-old technician will be responsible for turning around the club's sporting situation in the National Championship. With 174 matches under his belt in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, Vincent Hognon knows exactly what a team needs to perform well and regain confidence. French Ligue 2 champion with Metz in 2019 A former central defender with spells at Nancy, Saint-Etienne and Nice, VAFC's new coach began his first coaching stint in 2017 on the Nancy bench before joining Metz the following season. At the helm of the Grenats, he succeeded in leading the club back to the top flight in May 2019, winning the Ligue 2 title in the process. After keeping Metz in Ligue 1 in 2020, Vincent Hognon joined Luxembourg club FC Swift, before signing for Grenoble Foot 38 at the end of December 2021, where he kept the club in Ligue 2 for two seasons in a row. Free of any contract since his time at Grenoble, the coach has decided to sign for VAFC. The entire club would like to welcome Vincent Hognon and wish him every success as head of the first team. Henrik Kraft, Chairman of VAFC: ‘I am delighted that Vincent Hognon has taken over as coach of VAFC. His experience, his high standards and his past successes are real assets in turning around the sporting situation and giving a new dynamic to the whole team. With a hundred or so matches under his belt in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, Vincent knows how to restore the players' confidence. Welcome to VA Vincent! Ben Chorley, VAFC sporting director: ‘We are delighted to welcome Vincent to Valenciennes. When we began the search for a head coach, we wanted someone with a wealth of experience and a winning record. His five ascents as player, assistant coach and head coach speak volumes. It's now up to the players and staff to welcome Vincent and rise to the challenge ahead. 2

ChristopheVAFC Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Hello friends, I hope you're well this Sunday. Today is match day for Valenciennes, who travel to Thionville in Lorraine (about a 3-hour drive away) as part of the 1/32nd final of the French Football Cup. This is the last match of the year, but the first for our new manager, Vincent Hognon. I'm pretty confident about this match, because generally speaking, the arrival of a new manager motivates the players to put in a good performance. We also want to reassure ourselves before the festive season, so that we can get back on the right foot in January 2025. The match kicks off at 5.30pm French time and will be broadcast in France on Bein Sport 2. Allez VA! 🔴⚪

First outing Sunday in Thionville. All week, since the training sessions were once again open to the public and should always be except for exceptions, the Valenciennes supporters came in slightly larger numbers than usual. There was clearly an effect of curiosity to observe the first steps of Vincent Hognon, appointed at the beginning of the week. And the first impressions of this coach who is giving voice are rather positive behind the fences of Mont-Houy. "I attended two sessions, it works on a large pitch with a lot of tactical set-up and replacement, it suits me well, confides Grégory. What is really interesting is that he says what he wants and he does it again if it doesn't work. We feel that he really knows what he wants to put in place. We also see that he has a firm grip, it can't hurt." "He knows what it's like to move up" Tanguy is on the same wavelength, seduced like the others by the well-stocked CV of this new coach, notably promoted to Ligue 1 with Metz in 2019. "He has experience, he knows what it's like to move up and comes from a rather good experience in Grenoble. That reassures me a little with regard to the ambitions at the start of the season." The Valenciennes fans are not, however, under any immediate illusions and are above all expecting the new boss to shake up a squad that has been far from irreproachable in terms of desire and determination in recent weeks. "You can put Guardiola or Mourinho in charge of the team, the most important thing is the players. I expect them to do more" REYNALD, VAFC supporter "Being caught up by Villefranche, beaten by Bourg-en-Bresse and pushed around by Quevilly, it's not possible, sighs Reynald. If it's not a technical problem, it's mental. Vincent Hognon seems like a good choice to me, but you can put Guardiola or Mourinho in charge of the team, the most important thing is the players. I expect them to do more." That's what Vincent Hognon asked them all week before going to Thionville in the Coupe de France. "We're going to give him time," promises Grégory. If I see desire in the next matches, that'll be fine with me because that's what we expect from a change of coach. » "He will boost them", is convinced Tanguy. First element of response Sunday afternoon in Lorraine before really raising his head in 2025 in the championship. THIONVILLE (N2) - VALENCIENNES (N), this Sunday, at 5:30 p.m., live on beIN Sports 9 and our site. 1

Allez VA! 🔴⚪ Bon chance VA! 1
