Legod Third Coming Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 The bloke has been the manager for one game, give him a chance. He made changes and it worked. Isn't thta something to be hapy about. Most of us would have been well happy with a point before the game. Hopefully he will have learned from tonight and we will kick on from here. Sand head out of get. He has been here ALL FIRKING SEASON on the bench. What was he doing there?? Reading 101 Dutch limericks???????

sadoldgit Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 And what if we go down by a point and started with an international striker on the bench when we can't score for toffee... Time to bring them back and get a manager. Timing for a new manager is perfect. Euell and Sagga will be hungry now. St Marco Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 As LTC says any other day and would be a fine result but pretty much all the other results have now gone against us. A few months ago when we had 4 weeks without winning and all other results went our way i said that will come back to haunt us and it looks like it is. We now need 4 points to get out of the drop zone and this was a must win game. Table now looks like 17th Forest 33 pts 18th Barnsley 32 pts 19th Norwich 30 pts 20th Watford 30 pts 21st Doncaster 30 pts ------------------------ 22nd Derby 29 pts 23rd Saints 27 pts 24th Charlton 22 pts Doncaster have a game in hand too The boys did well to come back and deserve credit but i think this shows to the regime that 4-4-2 does work and they have made a massive mistake denying it does. So credit to Wotte for changing it but by that logic you also have to criticise him for going for a defensive set-up to start with when we have the worst defensive record in the league. Next 3 games are even more massive now, we have to win and hope others lose.
Gordon Mockles Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 I would have taken a point at the start of the game, even more so at half time. It might be disappointing tonight with other results but at the end of the season this point might make all the difference....but hey, let's just slag off the new manager anyway shall we? Ok. What a c**t Wotte is for starting with DMG AND playing 1 upfront. Is there a witch's curse that banishes learning from any men stepping into the SFC dugout?! Good to come back, not so good to miss 2 points and see the gulf starting widen.

Bailey Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Don't know how to feel about this one. Good character to come back from 2 down but yet another poor first half. We have to build on this however and push on. 3 points against Swansea would be a massive boost. Here's hoping that Wotte has learnt something tonight. Play 4-4-2 with the likes of Saga, Euell and Skacel in the side.
Legod Third Coming Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Perhaps Mark Wotte needs your crystal ball? I expect he will make worse choices and win. Just a shame that you can't take any postives from tonight. No because we need to WIN. Oh wait, you are relying on our home record... ah of course... my apologies... There are NO positives to take from failing to win, time and time again and not addressing the issue. So we got out of jail tonight. A jail we landed ourselves in. Taking positives is what got us into this god-foresaken mess. Yes, in another season a point away here would be a reasonable result. But we're LOSING ground on those around us. What's the betting we get thumped on Saturday and then find the gap even wider...
aintforever Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Not a bad result in the end. the fact they they didn't capitulate gives me some hope. Saint Martini Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Good point in the end regardless of the other results. Now at least we can take something positive form this match. I really don't get Wotte though, all his life he's played 4-4-2 with his teams and now he manages a team in England and he Switches to 4-1-4-1?! Its not like the plaeyr wouldn't know how to play a 4-4-2. I hope he learned his lesson.
VectisSaint Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 He moaned about a manager who effectively won every other game? Yes of course he was right......... Not when he didn't have Snodin as assistant he didn't. Only just over 1 point per game before Snodin's arrival and after his departure. Trouble is as so often, Alps is absolutely spot on, but no one likes to agree with him because he doesn't go to games. Bloody good comeback tonight though. I switched off when we went 2-0 down, seems it had the desired effect which is what happens when you field a proper team rather than JP's one. We may have dropped points to Donny and Forest, but their season is on the up, plus side is we have closed on Derby and kept pace with Norwich who look the more likely relegation candidates now. Belgiansaint Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Can't help thinking that things MIGHT have turned out differently on occasions if we'd kept one of our three proven goalscorers. EFM Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Why were we 2-0 down??? WTF was that selection about? I think it's called inviting the opposition to attack you at will knowing that if you do clear the ball it will come straight back and you also have no hope of scoring (or indeed having a single shot in our case). What a revoluntiary idea to bring an additional forward on, change the shape, offer some attacking threat and nullify their attack at will idea! Nobody on this forum could possibly have thought that up so let's be grateful the Dutch genius eh?
Saint Fan CaM Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Saga - an international striker, who scored in the last game - dropped to the bench and played as a joker from half time. Now then, does that look like the actions of a manager that KNOWS HIS SQUAD?! Does it f**k. We were lucky tonight - lucky that Saga still has some fire in his belly despite being treated like a 2nd hand condom. And yet McGoaldrought manages to get selected and then keeps his place on the pitch - not only does this guy not earn a place, he keeps a better player on the bench or playing out of position (e.g. Euell/BWP). Incredible. I am not going to be a happy chappy if tWotte keeps Saga on the bench and plays anything other than 4-4-2 at home on Saturday. I'll wait on the match reports from those who braved the journey, but it looks to me as if little or nothing has changed.

badgerx16 Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 We have to build on this however and push on. 3 points against Swansea would be a massive boost. It would be a bl00dy miracle ! Saf... Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 We were never, ever going to win away from home against Norwich, no matter how we are performing, so a point is a good result, made better by the fact that we are 1) Useless and 2) were 2-0 down. SoccerMom Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Very pleased for Mclaggon though! Looks a good prospect, genuine pace, start him AND Saga on sat! Absolutely. The lad is showing more character than some of the other youngsters - clearly up for it, knows what kind of game he wants to play and not afraid to go on the offensive. Definitely the bright spark in the Manure game - loved watching him give a bit of verbal to the opposing team. Give DMG a chance to look at his game - put Kayne on!! Billy Davies really is ideal for this league! They're 'only' 12 points off the playoffs i think. badgerx16 Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 good result away from home, good start wotte imo Not a 'good start' at all; an extremely poor start ( ie the selection, tactics, and 1st half performance ), but he did at least recover the situation from being a complete disaster ( by accepting plan 'A' wasn't working ). It is imperative that he shows something more against Swansea.

sfcmick Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Good point but Wotte's team selection shows this guy is no different to the last manager and will take us down . Be worried, we are in deep **** and still continue to start games with just one striker and put all the pressure on the defence which invariably means we concede goals. .comsaint Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Let's be honest...that's HONEST...for a moment. Who - this afternoon - would have taken a draw tonight? And then who - at half time & 2-0 down - would STILL have taken a draw tonight? I already know my answer. The fact that other sides around us picked up points is clouding the judgement of some. A draw away at Norwich is NOT a bad result in itself. It's the HOME games we have to start winning.
