What's the thing on the centre spire? I thought it was one of those platforms that go up and down but the spire gets wider so it wouldn't get very far.

Although it’s pretty sad that a thread supposedly about SMS development gets taken over by news of Man Utd’s ambitious plans. Thanks to SR’s stunning failure at Saints it’ll be a long time before any further investment in SMS will happen - maybe never if we carry on the current trajectory. 1

My bad, I forgot about the new stadium expansion in the last year or so. 🙄😉 Oh sorry, you mean the safe standing, the movement of away fans and the addition of extra pre-match entertainment areas (to compensate for the sub-standard match entertainment? OK, I guess that’s something, but obviously not enough to make a some on here swoon over Utd’s plans.

From what I can see pretty much every game is going to general sale so I’m not sure where the immediate need of expansion is coming from. Club are looking at it anyway as they’ve announced. Meanwhile Brighton, Fulham, Bournemouth all doing ok with significantly smaller stadiums. Not sure anyone here much cares about Old Trafford as you’re trying to make out.

Some hefty maintenance bills coming up if it’s been neglected for several years. Who honestly thinks SR can expand a stadium that they can’t even maintain? They can’t run an organisation for shit, but at least try and keep up some appearances. Edited Sunday at 10:03 by Gloucester Saint 1
Chocolate Box Posted Sunday at 13:43 Posted Sunday at 13:43 They still have not repaired the holes in the roof above my seat despite raising my season ticket price by 43% ! Inexplicably there now appears to be a pair of scissors up there so someone must been up there ?!

SaintsLoyal Posted Sunday at 17:22 Posted Sunday at 17:22 So are sport repbulic offering to buy the land from the coal pension fund thats currently got the burnt out warehouses on it ? Might even offer the gas mob some money to buy that land as well.

Might even offer the gas mob some money to buy that land as well. That always seemed the obvious outcome but looks like it's still possible for new industrial units could replace it, according to this https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/24982144.southampton-warehouse-devastated-fire-demolished/ And there's also the possibility that a new asphalt processing plant could be built on the riverside in front of the stadium that would scupper plans the club and city council recently talked of about opening up the waterfront. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/25023559.plans-new-asphalt-processing-plant-next-st-marys/#comments-anchor
EssEffCee Posted Sunday at 18:41 Posted Sunday at 18:41 Yeah I thought when I saw the other day about the asphalt plan that it doesn't particularly tie in with the clubs stated plans. As for the gas works aren't there flats going up there?

Planning permission for flats on the gasholders site was granted last year but that doesn't count for much in this city these days as we see approved scheme after approved scheme never actually making it off the drawing board. So I guess the club could always step in yet if it stalls.
SaintsLoyal Posted Sunday at 19:51 Posted Sunday at 19:51 (edited) I would be telling savills, who run the trading estate, that there are warehouse units all over Southampton empty. A very shrewd investment, if say Solak himself bought it. Expand the chapel by 4000 odd, I think that’s a realistic approach. The gas site is owned by SGN and why not approach them and see what they say as well. Edited Sunday at 21:08 by SaintsLoyal

suewhistle Posted Monday at 18:51 Posted Monday at 18:51 Far too healthy a stool for Saints; far more likely to be a big brown pond of diarhoea or a little black constipated nugget.. 1
