No shit you hear the away fans more at that end... You are probably right but my point is that they tried to create one main singing end by getting all the 'singers' together, in previous years we could hear that end more than now, most that did sing from the rest of the stadium moved. We do sing quite a lot, we can't hear you you can't hear us, maybe the singers need to try harder.

The best our atmosphere has been was from 2011 to 2016, starting with Adkins era and ending part way into Puels. No coincidence our most successful period in modern history. Unfortunately everyone from my group that had a ST from years before even that, all got priced out and stopped going. I expect there are similar stories all over, groups of people slowly disappearing a few at a time to be replaced by who knows who. That is true, but also just a few months ago we had possibly the best St Mary's atmosphere ever for WBA. Do we have any songs any more for our players? Most of the singing yesterday was about the ref

I've seen a Spoons more lavish than that Looks like Danny ings has sold a couple of his expressionist paintings. Ambience of a motorway service station in purgatory (which in many ways it is). LuckyNumber7
I am in the Northam and thought yesterday was the worst it's been so far, which is a shame as it was good against Ipswich. The large problem where I am at least (block 44) is that there is singing to the left and right at the same time but different songs, so it ends up just all fizzling out. Another thing is that we still haven't scored a goal at the Northam, and in truth most of what little attacking action we've had has been at the other end. We really have had precious little to get excited about. Also those in the Itchen North saying they can only hear the away fans, they are literally right opposite you so it's hardly surprising is it. Before this season I was in Kingsland North and for the last few years barely heard the Northam, it had been crap for ages. We need new songs, but we also need a sense of hope and optimism which has been sadly lacking in the PL for years.

Turkish
i dont understand what's going on. We were assured once we had a a Kop end with away fans in the corner we would be invincible at home. 🤷♀️
EssEffCee
Crazy how many people have bought tickets in a standing area to spend sizeable chunks of the game sat down. Atmosphere tourism. 2

And there was another edge to it with the unbridled hostility any time West Brom dared touch the ball. Goosebumps thinking about it. Suspect the suits thought it was something they could recreate on the regular. But an atmosphere like that is driven by the occasion; the stakes. You can't fake it.

That's it; they're trying too hard to create an atmosphere artificially, rather than letting it grow organically.
bpsaint
Does that cringeworthy Pride of the South banner still come out before matches?

Who apart from everyone? Not everyone who stands and sings wants to stand and sing next to the same people. The club however thought that if they lumped disparate groups together then it would somehow be loud. Instead you get groups who have no interest in joining in with stuff the other group likes - the million songs about the skates, and the coke fuelled seal clapping being prime examples - so those people who would've sung just don't (and i'm one of those people, i'd rather stand in silence than sing about pompey). The club should've instead given a couple of areas of safe standing, keep "the wall" nonsense for those that wanted it, but offered another option somewhere else too (for example the back five rows of the chapel. I do know one thing for sure though, i'm not staying in the northam wall next season, it's just a case of where i move to, because it's really, really shit. Not just quieter than where i was before, but more noddy too

It was a good idea after giving the entire Northam end to the home fans but its been executed so poorly. Feels like a missed opportunity to make a real impactful banner to reveal every game rather than something that's so cringey. All the best tifo banners use symbolic imagery not cheesy slogans like "Pride of the South" or "We March On" that sound like they've been thought up in a corporate setting. Generic. Terrible font. No impact. Forgettable. FFS!

They could have just made a bigger version of the Markus Liebherr banner and it would be a clear improvement. I also thought we could have done something with the "saintly monk" design instead of the generic slogan we went with. What we've ended up with is what happens when you don't include the fanbase in the design process and instead, ask them to pick from a bad bunch.
