Both are shockingly dull.  In all honesty we should of kept last seasons home shirt for another season.

This seasons kit is terrible looks like a Sunday league shirt.....  60 notes for that fuck off!

Stopped caring about kits a long time ago - as long as they dont deviate massively from the standard red and white for home and not go too outlandish on an away colour, which they havent done for these latest kits.

What matters more is the team wearing them. Great to see Downes back. We desperately need a creative AM and a 12-15 goal PL striker sharpish however

I note that Burnley (and maybe others) offer the option of buying a sponsor free shirt. Really wish Saints had done that.

Bournemouth do this as well, shame its not an option.

I will probably be getting the women's kits instead.

Worst we have had in a long time home kit is about as Sheffield united as you can get and away looks like a Liverpool shirt :( .

it’s a real shame we moved away from Hummel imo., they make some great shirts and feel like they had some connection with the club

I honestly am a little shocked at the sponsor, I get the club 'needs money' but the sponsor didn't have licensing to operate in the UK until a couple days ago hence the waiting time for the shirt reveal and not only that, they have marketed it to us as a 'gaming platform' when its actually a gambling site that promotes illegal gambling to global audiences (Mainly China) and uses cryptocurrency so its not traceable.

I cannot wait for the ban.

BBC Article explaining how those companies are run and how they bypass the marketing licensing required to sponsor a shirt as well: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-64662006

Eh I'm not too keen on the patterns on the away shirt and the back of the home shirt, it reminds me of architecture projects where the designer was too far up inside their own head. Though I will  say that inverted shapes and non uniform patterning do fit better on a jersey then a building.

The kit looks awful in that dodgy pic that Master Bates posted, but in the proper pics it looks really quite nice. Decent sized stripes, black trim. Sponsor is at least mostly black and white which fits the overall colour scheme - not full of dodgy colours which clash horrifically. The back would be better with stripes but at least it's not plain red.

Yep it's pretty much what everyone has been asking for in terms of a red and white striped kit. Nothing incredible but certainly not the "abomination" some silly billies have claimed. 6.5 or 7 out of 10.

Should have stayed with Hummel.

That Hummel Sunderland kit is a right old mess. Red and White with black trim looks so much better, and the pattern on the stripes looks awful too. Ours isn't perfect but it's far cleaner and more stylish than that Sunderland effort.

People complain when it’s not traditional stripes and now when there is such a kit they complain it looks a poor version of Sunderland, Exeter or Brackley. I must be missing something but apart from details like width of stripes, collar or sleeves what are they supposed to do with traditional stripes? The sponsor is the sponsor and that’s their logo, what do you expect put Draper on the front even though they are not our front of shirt sponsor and probably don’t have the marketing budget to be?

Overall I personally like the home and away kits being traditional colours and design, although I dislike plain shirt backs when there is no regulatory need but the pattern on the back of the home shirt does at least soften the look, I don’t know why the away shirt couldn’t have the same patterned back as the front. As for the sponsor whoever we have their logo will be on the front of shirts whether we agree with their selection or not. I would have preferred (if we could have attracted them) a worldwide non betting company such as MSC Cruises ( who do other sporting sponsorship and have local connections ) or some other travel, leisure, electronics or financial company. The EPL has a worldwide audience so it will attract sponsoring companies that operate in many parts of the world.

Anyway like it or not these are our shirts for this season, now complete the assembly of our squad and get the best out of the players that we have to compete not just survive in the EPL.

It's not necessarily the same people complaining though is it.  Pretty much every kit will always divide opinion, that's always been the case.

In my humble opinion, nothing will ever beat this beauty...

What sort of cunt agreed to have that eyesore of a logo splashed across the front? Seriously they must have some standards with regarded to who the company is and what their logo looks like?

The two issues for me are Decency and Aesthetics.

Decency - Rollbit don't seem to be a company we want to be partners with, at any level.

Aesthetics - Even if we must* partner with them, how big of a drama would it have been to make the 'O' chip, red for the home and yellow for the away? Yellow on red and black just kills it as a design.

*Imagine if those with the power were to see the overall responses (they surely must have had an inkling of the reaction) across social media and cancelled the sponsorship as a consequence? Imagine how much positive publicity Saints would receive? The have shot themselves in the foot massively and it just didn't need to happen. Surely we could have just gone for the next best financial offer and took the hit? What price on standards? This company are banned in many countries, do we want to be associated with them for 30 pieces of silver? Not me chef. Probably not as easy as just cancelling but surely there is a way. All we can do I suppose is boycott and hit sales. The 30 pieces of silver would soon be cancelled out. What a complete and utter f^&k up.

Really didn't like the home kit when I saw the leaked shot. Couldn't believe it looked so cheap, like a knock-off from Poundland or a holiday stall. Looked better in the launch, but it's still a bit telling that most shots have the players grasping at the shirt to pull it, perhaps shielding what a poor cut it is. Looks very baggy, and should be more fitted on the torso. But it is getting better as the hours pass. Like the stripes - no mucking about. The away one, weirdly, I kind of liked to begin with but the more I see it the more I think Norwich City. Logo is horrid, of course, but nout we can do about that. Shame Starling Bank couldn't have stumped up extra to have the women's and the men's. Ho hum. Anyway, it's only a kit. Here's hoping the third (black and yellow stripes?) is a belter. What we really need is a good keeper or we're fucked

This times 100.

Its been said above, but these kit manufacturers must provide the club with a choice over kits, and time after time, some utter numpty in the club keep picking shit versions... It cannot repeatedly be the various kit manufactures constantly giving us poor kits.

The blue is too dark on change strip - will clash with Fulham, Brentford, Newcastle, Bournemouth, etc black.  So we will need a 3rd strip, or yellow short option I guess.  Traditional royal blue would have been better

It’s the yellow in the logo that bugs me the most. Maybe I’ll bleach it or take a sharpie to it…

is the women’s shirt a different cut?

Yes, I imagine it goes in at the waist. So ideal for beer bellies .... ... ... ... ...

Back to the kit, it’s gonna be bloody hilarious after all this clock and dagger Puma event kit launch etc and the kit turns out to be an absolute dive 😂

The vibe I’ve got is that that was the case.

Don’t be fooled by the Flynn Downes announcement dressing up the event (no pun intended).

That sponsor on that kit, and that kit in general is poor.
It looks like something you’d wear in Sunday league football.

Don't they make women's replica kits in men's sizes?

Imagine the outcry if it was the other way around...

You can buy the Southamton FC women's team shirts in all sizes, including for men. You can also buy Southampton FC men's team shirts in all sizes, including for women.

Outcry averted

For anyone interested: Saints store staff have said that they will be selling the women's team version of both shirts (Starling Bank sponsor) in men's sizes, they're just awaiting stock photos before they can upload for purchase on the online store. So there is a possibility to purchase without the awful Rollbit sponsor logo

In fact more than half of the away games where will have to change, the blue shorts will not be allowed.  So why have them in the first place?

Look forward to seeing the third kit, Martin said he was a big fan of it...Im guessing it's "bold" which tbh, I don't mind in a third kit.

Sadly, it will still have Rollbit plastered on the front. If I do buy one (and I occasionally buy them at the end of the season once discounted) I'll be buying a Starling kit rather than a Rollbit kit.

Would be a nice way of fans protesting against this shite dodgy sponsor

Funny to think these debate have been going on for decades now, i found this from an old copy of On The March on just this topic, turns out everything new is old

Also interesting side note when i was looking the Ugly Inside fanzine had suggested new songs, this one from the 90s shows we used to call pompey scummers too

PUMA and Sport Republic will discover that Stripes don't sell very well.

We'll back to something better next year.

Good.

Have a look at historical kits and you can see how often Saints vary from a traditional red and white.

http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Southampton/Southampton.htm

From the past 50 years: inverse Ajax 5 years; centenary solid red 2 years; Hummel half 2 years; sash 1 year; Cortese red 2 years; inverse Ajax 1 year; inverse sash 1 year; white and red 1 year. That’s 15  out of 50 we’ve gone for something completely non stripes. Then you’ve got another 5 years of candy stripes which were very non traditional, the Pony tick was pretty off the wall, and the 99-01 kit was an almost inverse Ajax.

Stripes are gash IMO, very boring especially paired with black shorts and with a plain back looks crap. Tbf that twobit logo would make anything look shit, but Hummel 99 and maybe one of the Sanderson ones have been about the only striped kits I like edit, actually the Admiral one was alright).

I’d still like to see us do a proper red and white halves like Southampton St Mary’s 1894-1896 with blue shorts and socks, or a Feyenoord equivalent if sticking to black shorts.

You can get every shirt with the Starling Bank logo in Mens. Its the one i got, not a fan of the Rollbit one.IMG-20240717-WA0005.thumb.jpeg.92f771fa26278c74f73c61b37131e043.jpeg

Yeah the rollbit logo really does make it look cheap, it's a shame. The starling logo on the red and white looks quite nice I think, although the Starling logo on the yellow is pretty much identical to Liverpool's kit of last year!
