It’s a disgrace but you can take the higher ground and you get stuck behind financially sadly.

They should give the fans a choice to buy a shirt without sponsor.

Guess people can buy the ladies team with Starling  bank on

I just buy for the kids and they usually stick Utilita on those as not allowed to have gambling on child sizes

Some sides have done this in the past. I think when Rep of Ireland did it, and the sponsorless shirt was considerably more expensive than the normal one. Celtic too I’m sure have done it.

Is the kit out yet? Or is this the event on Wednesday or whenever it is?

Tomorrow evening

We've had some stinking sponsors since the Virgin Media deal expired, not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things.

In the new world of PSR, what you can get from sponsorship is what helps clubs like us compete. As bad as that is to say, if these guys offer us the most money and can help make us a better team then who gives a shit.

Personally, I don't see it as any worse than Carling sponsoring Rangers and Celtic or Carlsberg sponsoring Liverpool. It's not an ideal sponsor but if they're paying us the most money, we have to be pragmatic.

It's not the fact that it's another gambling firm that bothers me - it's so common now (despite the looming ban) that I've just become numb to it.

What irks me is the way the club have tried to dress this up and paint Rollbit out to be an exciting, innovative online sports and entertainment firm. It's almost Comical Ali levels of spin, and just makes it look like they are treating fans like total mugs.

I get that the sponsorship deal means we have to promote the company, but FFS just be honest about what they do. If their business model is so unpalatable to the general public that the club feel the need to lie about it, then that is hugely problematic IMO. It pisses all over our image as a community club.

Trying to see how this doesn't look terrible on our striped shirts as well...

Let alone the headlines where we get rolled over 😆

Assume that the official kit launch happens after the 7pm ‘event’ scheduled for this evening - wonder if the SR bread and circuses budget will stretch to some pyrotechnics. Puma and Saints have managed to whip the fanbase up into a pique of tedium and apathy. Live in hope that one year they’ll just get it done at the end of the season.

No wonder they've got the wonga to sponsor a PL team if they basically just keep people's winnings! 😬

Did nobody at the club honestly consider the terrible optics of this before signing the deal?

Due diligence and all that ....

Yep. Reminds me of that Gao era "sponsorship".

It's a shame the truth never fully came out on this, I'm fairly sure the club didn't receive all the money due , didn't they end up replacing loads of kit for fans with a new sponsor on?

The fact people on here could show there wasn't a real company behind all that makes you wonder

Wasn't the whole LD Sports thing linked to Gao himself in some shape or form? (or maybe my memory is playing tricks on me)

which is now out of date as rollbit.co.uk exists and is registered with the Gambling Authorities in the UK (albeit it is completely different to the international offerings registered in Curacao)

Yep, sure it was some associate of his, reported as around £7.5m a year at the time - wonder if Espanyol got paid up as their shirt sponsors were also LD Sports at the same time (think they were getting half what we were supposed to)

Its not just the nature of their business but also the missed opportunity to build something that might vaguely benefit the local community.

I work for a company that sponsors another PL team and there is so much community work that is carried out by employees of the sponsor with the club charity, similar to the Saints foundation. Its really co-ordinated, well planned, community focused and genuinely makes a difference.

Surely there is a company with ties to the area, that benefits the local economy and which Saints could partner with in a similar way whilst still getting significant amounts of cash (and its not like Rollbit will be paying crazy money anyway)?

My moral compass agrees but sadly Rollbit will be paying around double such a sponsor and in order to be as competitive as possible, we must sell our soul to the highest bidder. It will be interesting to see how sponsorship numbers change when the ban is in force. I’m hoping we are still in the PL to find out.

I know someone at the club who worked closely with the directors at the time and she said the amount of bollocks about it was laughable. Also, joined the group of shirt sponsors who never actually paid the full amount agreed. Top top commercial team under Semmens and Thomas 😂

It is a dive.
