Holmes_and_Watson Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Another nice move. They know that AA is always looking outr for a cut back. Nice between Manning and KWP. We nearly got onto the header a minute before as well from Manning's corner.
OttawaSaint Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Ohhhh, great chance, too close to keeper!
Sheaf Saint Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Should have been two. Tame effort in the end.
OttawaSaint Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 1 minute ago, Sheaf Saint said: Should have been two. Tame effort in the end. It's a tough one from there though, pretty much get as clean contact as possible and hope it finds a corner or gap. He hit it well but it was right at the keeper.
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 More excellent passing from Edozie on the left right across to Aribo. Just needing that space for a final pass. Stephens gets it, goes central and that's a loveley weighted pass for AA to get a shot. Moments later Edozie puts one across the face of goal, waitng for a tap in. It's a shame all our players are involved in the build up. We need one of the,m to be in two places at once, to get on the end of the moves.
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Stu does such a good job supporting Edozie. Always there to pick up passes, as well as being a thrat by hilself when he's further forward. 1

Sheaf Saint Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Bit of a soft yellow for Bednarek, but it was poor of him to give it away from the FK in the first place.
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Another thing to note is that we're not just closing down space. We're absolutely crowding them out defensively. Back in lots of numbers when we need to be. Always that it's just the one goal lead in the back of the mind though... 1
Viking Saint Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 2 minutes ago, Bad Wolf said: How can anyone not enjoy this...? It's great to watch, just need that second goal cushion. Yellow for Bednarek now
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Baz slips. Downes takes the free kick further up.
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Giving away a few freekicks on the trot. Picking up some cards too.
Sheaf Saint Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Ref is a bit card happy isn't he? That's two really harsh ones now. 1
Convict Colony Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Dominating and only 1 goal via massive deflection.
Convict Colony Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 (edited) Edozie have the rb on toast tho Edited 26 December, 2023 by Convict Colony Right back 1
Bad Wolf Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 I can see why we wanted Wood. He can really ping a ball out.
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Interesting passing out form the back from us. Swansea obviosuly knwo what we're doing there. But we played to the next man up on the wing, rhather than the obvious pass, looking to unlock them quicker and catch them out.
Saint_clark Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Only just managed to tune in, how's the performance so far? What was the goal like?
BotleySaint Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Just now, Sheaf Saint said: How's that not a second yellow? Definitely a yellow if he wasn't already on one.
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Our spell of pressure for a second was a little while ago. Manning taken down. Ref not giving a second booking. We don;t do anything from the free kick.
AlexLaw76 Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Just now, Saint_clark said: Only just managed to tune in, how's the performance so far? What was the goal like? After 2 good chances very early for Swansea (they should have scored 1 of them), it has been all saints since about 10 mins, out goal was heavily deflected, after a brilliant run by Edozie
macca155 Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Grimes, Humphreys, and Pattinson, certainly aren't rubbish. Swansea look a decent side. Good measure as to how well Saints are playing. Stephens is certainly adding to the defense and midfield. Good to see.
Sheaf Saint Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 1 minute ago, BotleySaint said: Definitely a yellow if he wasn't already on one. Yep. Nailed on. Ref bottled it. 2
BotleySaint Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Could even give a yellow on Wood there. Ref has lost his cards. 2
Sheaf Saint Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Given the yellow cards the ref has already dished out, how has he not given one there? So inconsistent.
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Although AA was playing for it. I thought that challenge was a booking, as he would have been away. 1
SNSUN Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Sort of following today. Have SSN on at the 'rents house but they're trying to wrestle control... Second goal please Saints. Would be nice to not have to worry about a game as it enters the closing stages.
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Stu and Edozie nearly linking up there. 1
Osvaldorama Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Very good performance so far. Need a second to settle the nerves and I imagine Swansea will come out fired up second half. Fair play Edozie, been absolutely class today. Shame no one has been on the end of his crosses
saintant Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Solid first half display and deservedly ahead. We look quite comfortable and my only worry is that Manning continues to drift into that inverted position leaving oceans of space on his flank. Not sure why he does this as he leaves the defence exposed. There should be more goals and we need to keep getting the ball out to Edozie who is on fire.
Saint NL Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Enjoyable so far, Edozie really showing what he can do. Let's keep it up 1
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 -Interesting set up -57% possession, but we were more dominant with it than higher %s in other games -Excellently worked goal. -We created lots of build up play, but use up all our players doing it, so there's noone waiting for a final pass. So, not many actual shots. -Swansea, who obviously know how we play really well, had a couple of early opportunities. But one at least is form an area we seem more comfortable giving opponents opportunities from. The other was from a set piece. -They tried a couple of long cross field passes to catch us out, but haven't landed any of them. - The interchanging and movement of our team is causign them all sorts of problems. - Stephens might not be quite as sharp as some of the others due to his time out, but looks very keen to get us moving forward, while providing that bit of extra support at the back. - Aribo offers more physicality than Adams, and has become so much mor emobile as the season has gone on. He's done well again, even though some of our style may not be the best fit for him sometimes.
Weston Super Saint Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 stream died - anyone got a working one?
Saint Fan CaM Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Ref is incredibly biased with the cards - someone needs to be making a noise in the officials dressing room in the break.
Saint In Cornwall Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Bristol City 2nd goal........ Hoedt OG suck it up you scumbag
austsaint Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Good half of Football from Saints. Survived the early pressure from Swansea and have controlled the situation since. Edozie and Airibo providing speed and craft. Downes handling the holding role well. Stu busy and a couple of good chances for AA; KWP the usual Rolls Royce. 4-3-3 formation looks to be working well - perhaps Swansea being given too much space down their left flank - tighten up Manning. Let's hope Saints press for a second - can see a cameo from Alcaraz coming. 1

Yeah, this. The two he gave us in quick succession were very soft, but the two that he then ignored for Swansea were far more obvious. 2
Bad Wolf Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Why do we boo ex P*mpey players during games? It's just going to rile them up. Save it for after the game.
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 26 December, 2023 Posted 26 December, 2023 Ah Edozie. Did well to keep it in and control it. Should have passed it and gave it away. Lots of decision making to develop, which you'd expect at his age.
