Greenridge Posted 29 June, 2017 Posted 29 June, 2017 Regarding new players, players departing, takeovers, pre-season friendlies ? Or Sam Gallagher signing a new contract ??? JRod leaving.

Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 29 June, 2017 Posted 29 June, 2017 I think there will also be more announcements tomorrow. Defrel?
SuperSAINT Posted 29 June, 2017 Posted 29 June, 2017 Gallagher and Stephens contracts That'll do nicely.

SuperSAINT Posted 6 January, 2018 Posted 6 January, 2018 How did he get on? Just said on Solent it was his 1st game in professional football as a right back. Fair play.
MilwaukeeSaint Posted 6 January, 2018 Posted 6 January, 2018 How did he get on? Just said on Solent it was his 1st game in professional football as a right back. Fair play. Not terrible, not great imo. A few nervy moments, especially early, but got the job done.
derry Posted 6 January, 2018 Posted 6 January, 2018 Fairly solid, defended well against Fulham's best player, didn't sell himself, defended the inside line well and made the attackers go outside. Obviously little idea about attacking. Decent display.
supersonic Posted 6 January, 2018 Posted 6 January, 2018 Not convinced at all by him, looks a yard off the ice and came off worse against a 17 year old. Looks scared to head the ball - not good for a 6”4 Centre back!
DT Posted 6 January, 2018 Posted 6 January, 2018 Not convinced at all by him, looks a yard off the ice and came off worse against a 17 year old. Looks scared to head the ball - not good for a 6”4 Centre back! To be fair, not just any 17 year old. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
supersonic Posted 6 January, 2018 Posted 6 January, 2018 To be fair, not just any 17 year old. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk He didn't look that special. Can't see why PSG are interested after that performance. If a 17 year old can get the better of him, he'll get screwed in the PL - not one to get excited about.
warsash saint Posted 6 January, 2018 Posted 6 January, 2018 Not convinced at all by him, looks a yard off the ice and came off worse against a 17 year old. Looks scared to head the ball - not good for a 6”4 Centre back! What utter rubbish!! Can you list the times their youngster got the better of him? This board is so full of blinkered loons!!
Suhari Posted 6 January, 2018 Posted 6 January, 2018 Not convinced at all by him, looks a yard off the ice and came off worse against a 17 year old. Looks scared to head the ball - not good for a 6”4 Centre back! His first game for a while, and out of position: his first ever game at right back. He did okay. Would hope there would be a better option as our 3rd choice RB though!

Saint Albert Posted 6 January, 2018 Posted 6 January, 2018 I get the impression that a lot of Saints supporters decided this fellow was awful last summer and are unwilling to revise their opinions on him. He played out of position against someone who is being touted for stardom. Bednarek played well today. The club tweeted some Bednarek stats after the game... https://mobile.twitter.com/SouthamptonFC/status/949746897429839872
Baird of the land Posted 6 January, 2018 Posted 6 January, 2018 Thought he was solid especially out of position. Sessegnon seemed overhyped on that evidence though. Let’s hope he can develop into a reliable cover option.
Saint_clark Posted 6 January, 2018 Posted 6 January, 2018 But but but...he got beaten loads and was afraid to head the ball!?
Badger Posted 6 January, 2018 Posted 6 January, 2018 The starting line up suggested to me that we were playing a back three with Bednarek on the right of this rather than playing as an out and out RB. I wasn't too pleased to see this after the Wolves fiasco and stronger opposition would probably torn us to shreds. Didn't think he did too badly tbh, couple of notable good challenges but didn't offer a lot going forward .Think he'd benefit from a loan to a Championship club for game time.
Shance Posted 6 January, 2018 Posted 6 January, 2018 Ariel Duels won - 100% Was afraid to head the ball.
John Boy Saint Posted 7 January, 2018 Posted 7 January, 2018 (edited) Not convinced at all by him, looks a yard off the ice and came off worse against a 17 year old. Looks scared to head the ball - not good for a 6”4 Centre back! Early on he did look a bit like a fish up tree, but after the clash of heads where you did wonder if he would continue as he looked like he had no idea where he was. A few moments later after he appeared not to want the ball passed to him a couple of times. Then he had to win a header. successfully executed he was suddenly much more into the game. macca155 Posted 7 January, 2018 Posted 7 January, 2018 He was ok certainly for someone who hasn't played for a while. He really does seem to have been harshly judged before having a decent chance to shine. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Pass the Dutchie Posted 7 January, 2018 Posted 7 January, 2018 Ariel Duels won - 100% Was afraid to head the ball. Well, that doesn't show us how often he actually headed the ball.
rooney Posted 7 January, 2018 Posted 7 January, 2018 He did ok against supposedly Fulham's best player who some were clamouring to sign a few weeks ago.
supersonic Posted 7 January, 2018 Posted 7 January, 2018 Funny how they only put the % of arial duals won and not the number of times he attempted to head the ball...

Pamplemousse Posted 7 January, 2018 Author Posted 7 January, 2018 I really think it would’ve been beneficial to have sent him out on loan after we signed him.
Foxstone Posted 7 January, 2018 Posted 7 January, 2018 He performed commendably well on his first serious outing, and out of position too. He can and will get better too
SuperSAINT Posted 12 April, 2018 Posted 12 April, 2018 Mark Hughes claims Jan Bednarek is "certainly a possibility" to replace the suspended Jack Stephens against Chelsea on Saturday.
SFC Forever Posted 12 April, 2018 Posted 12 April, 2018 If Mark said that then Bednarek must have shown him something.
benjii Posted 12 April, 2018 Posted 12 April, 2018 He's got a ****ing big pocket and he's going to put Hazard right ****ing in. Up the Jan!
Lighthouse Posted 12 April, 2018 Posted 12 April, 2018 If Mark said that then Bednarek must have shown him something. Or we're in a daft situation where he's our only other available CB and don't really have much choice in the matter.
Saint86 Posted 12 April, 2018 Posted 12 April, 2018 Or we're in a daft situation where he's our only other available CB and don't really have much choice in the matter. Why can't we go with Yoshi ffs. We look far better with him in the side.
Whitey Grandad Posted 12 April, 2018 Posted 12 April, 2018 Why can't we go with Yoshi ffs. We look far better with him in the side. He first needs to learn to start throwing his body in front of shots instead of turning away and waving his foot at them.

Saint86 Posted 13 April, 2018 Posted 13 April, 2018 In a back three? Yoshida-yoshida-hoedt? Sent from my SM-J330FN using Tapatalk If only we hadn't send Target on loan we could have played bertrand at LCB. Or we could even use Mcqueen as a left back and bertrand in defence. This is basically a must win game. And we're starting a very inexperienced (especially to English football) CB against players like hazard. In Jan and Sparky we trust. But nervously!
hasper57saint Posted 13 April, 2018 Posted 13 April, 2018 He first needs to learn to start throwing his body in front of shots instead of turning away and waving his foot at them. How many own goals/deflections now? Agree with you WG.
Nordic Saint Posted 13 April, 2018 Posted 13 April, 2018 Or we're in a daft situation where he's our only other available CB and don't really have much choice in the matter. The board and owners seem to have given up the pretence that they have much interest in strengthening the football team. Their main focus now will be on making as big a profit as possible from the player sales in the summer.
Matthew Le God Posted 13 April, 2018 Posted 13 April, 2018 Why can't we go with Yoshi ffs. We look far better with him in the side. The mention of Bednarek by Hughes is for a continuation of the 3-centre back system we used vs Arsenal. So it would be Hoedt, Yoshida and Bednarek. Not Yoshida missing out.
vivasadio Posted 14 April, 2018 Posted 14 April, 2018 Had a decent game today, only one game but prefer the look of him to Stephens
Pamplemousse Posted 15 April, 2018 Author Posted 15 April, 2018 I thought he did OK. Knowing Les, that means in his eyes we won't need to sign a new centre back in the summer
obelisk Posted 15 April, 2018 Posted 15 April, 2018 Had a decent game today, only one game but prefer the look of him to Stephens Agreed. However. There's something seriously amiss with Saints defensive coaching. Conceding 3 goals every game is worse than relegation form.
Saint Billy Posted 15 April, 2018 Posted 15 April, 2018 Tbf I did not see him do much wrong and looked reasonably composed, well taken goal as well.
RobM Posted 15 April, 2018 Posted 15 April, 2018 I thought he did OK. Knowing Les, that means in his eyes we won't need to sign a new centre back in the summer Him, Yoshi and Stephens would be decent Championship, so I think Les is right. Not good enough (yet) for the EPL though.
Saint Garrett Posted 20 April, 2018 Posted 20 April, 2018 Shout out to this lad the last two games. I saw him at Fulham and thought he was dreadful, but he's been pretty decent since coming into the side. Twice the player Stephens is would be surprised if Stephens comes straight back in
Batman Posted 20 April, 2018 Posted 20 April, 2018 Him, Yoshi and Stephens would be decent Championship, so I think Les is right. Not good enough (yet) for the EPL though. They won’t be, come on
VectisSaint Posted 20 April, 2018 Posted 20 April, 2018 Shout out to this lad the last two games. I saw him at Fulham and thought he was dreadful, but he's been pretty decent since coming into the side. Twice the player Stephens is would be surprised if Stephens comes straight back in Stephens will come back in, the dreadful Hoedt will be rightfully dropped. Hoedt will be good one day, but has a lot to do to get there. Stephens is infinitely better than Wesley.

Stephens is infinitely better than Wesley. Can’t agree with that. IMO Wes is considerably the best of the 4... Hoedt > Yoshida > Bednarek > Stephens IMO
SFC Forever Posted 21 April, 2018 Posted 21 April, 2018 I would put Yoshida first as he plays for the shirt and doesn't just wear it as a fashion statement. Jan has done well for his first two games but the semi could be harder as the pitch is wider.
