Plenty of tickets available on general sale for Blackburn and Leicester away currently.

Blackburn - looks like we sold most of the initial 2100, they've added some more in upper tier now . Ipswich have about 5000 going up there on Friday, don't think we'll get anywhere near that.

Leicester away - 3300 allocation, still about 500 left on general sale, most of the allocation sold when this was scheduled to be a Friday night game, not such a rush to buy for rearranged date,  hard to know if anything to play for still by then.

Probably right, many seem to feel we're only set for the play-offs now and has taken the edge off. Shame as Blackburn away offered the only real opportunity to take a real big following on the road - in the 1978 promotion season towards the end of the campaign we had a couple of 10,000 away followings and loads more for the midweek trip to the East End when Saints fans made up most of a full Brisbane Road crowd.

A couple of good results over Easter would reignite demand.

And the Easter fixture in our last promotion season saw 6,000 at Palace and would have been more but demand outstripped supply.

Doesn't help that there's train strikes that day to be fair which means you're either looking at bus replacement for large parts of the journey (and paying the extortionate trains prices anyway) or driving up.

I have a match ticket and I’m trying to find a way around the rail problems. Avanti and Southern (my route for the bulk of the journey)are running on Saturday. They strike on the Friday and Monday respectively. I think Cross Country is running on the Saturday too if that’s the route up from Southampton. Not clear whether Friday’s strike or “action short of a strike” will affect services on Saturday.

It seems it’s Northern Rail which is on strike on the Saturday. For me that’s the final part of the journey from Preston or Manchester Victoria to Blackburn. Rail replacement services are not provided on strike days. So that leaves normal bus or coach services or an Uber from Preston or Manchester. And yeah the rail prices are a joke, even with a rail card. I won’t be driving. Any suggestions appreciated.

Following Saints away this season has been really difficult all things considered.

Looks like excellent away support numbers are to continue off the back of last season:

Eastleigh away 1,775 sold out

Oxford away 1,497 looks sold out already

Millwall - plenty left still but decent number sold

Newcastle - loads sold first couple of days should easily take over 2k, might even get close to full allocation

Think there maybe half a  block, yet to go on sale still to be made available for Oxford, so around 1250 sold so far

just under 2,000 already sold for Newcastle

so as you say excellent away support continuing, and Brentford, Bournemouth, Arsenal games will all sell out easily

Only around 300 left for Newcastle going on general sale this morning. Fantastic support.

Any of the old timers know the last time we took more than 3k up there for a league match? My previous visit during Ralph era we only had about 1100 or so.

In the 40 years I’ve been going to Newcastle, the most we’ve ever taken up there was just over 2,500 for League Cup semi final a couple of years ago, before that usually around a thousand, on a few occasions just under 2,000, so looks like we will be taking the best support we’ve ever taken up there for first game.

we need to make sure we get all over social media telling everyone how amazing our support is and what a massive club we are. Whenever there is a a post about Pompey we need to respond immediately making sure we are the first 10 posts on there telling everyone how shit they, what a small club they are. It's the only way.

Still don't get why they've been allowed to ignore the rule about an away block being pitch side for years on end. Like watching subbuteo.

I think they claimed they couldn't due to stadium configuration or something but it's like they've not got the money to change that.

They had no trouble sticking away fans pitchside in the corner a few years ago, getting away with taking the piss.

140 tickets left for this now.

Them and Sunderland take the piss, terrible views, hard to make an atmosphere as no one has any breath left after climbing 1000 steps .

Mid to late 90s we often took 800-1000 up there which felt like good numbers in those days and generally took more to Newcastle than we did to Sunderland or Middlesbrough probably as it was seen as a good night out for a weekender. Particularly fond memories of going up there 2001 for a televised super Sunday I think, heavy night out down the Quayside saturday walking back to the B&B in heavy snow, woke up Sunday morning surprised game still on, think they finally called it off 2pm once all the fans had arrived! Went back up there for rearranged game on a Tuesday in May , drew 1-1 Pahars goal.

If you can get the lift up to the away end, for the semi final I came through the turnstiles just after a fan using crutches, thinking we were together the stewards guided us over to the lift, was so much better.

Talking of stewards the newcastle stewards have to be the most over the top heavy handed bunch i've come across in the ground, we had a woman near us who was on some sort of insane power trip and doing her best to cause trouble, the police actually had to remove her from the away section due to the problems she was causing.

As much as i love newcastle for the piss up the actual experience in the ground is terrible (and the less said about our ability to get anything there the better)

Brentford away ticket details are on the website, go on sale from tomorrow morning, 13 plus aways the initial window.

Such a small allocation,  Saturday 3pm in South West London very easy to get to I doubt it will get lower than 11, maybe 10 aways , Bournemouth away will be ridiculous

You got half as many again watching in the Olympic swimming arena than you can fit in Bournemouth's  embarrassingly small shed.

At least we'll be largely back to 3k allocations after these matches after the 2k limit at most places last season.

Can only think of Ipswich and possibly Fulham (not sure of their capacity with new stand) who won't have to offer 3k. And Ipswich will have to give us more than last season.

Just looked and Ipswich have given Liverpool 3k for their first home game and Fulham have given Leicester 2700.

So once Bournemouth and Brentford done there'll only be one other match we won't get a 3k allocation for. Assuming the club take them of course.

Good point, I think Palace used to be a bit less than 3k but was still decent 2.5 perhaps including a load of restricted view. Everton is one we often just take 1,800 allocation for, might be a bit different this time!

Oh yeah I forgot about Palace, yeah they'll definitely be lower too. Probably similar to Fulham.

You're right that Everton will be extremely popular this season for obvious reason. City is the other one we don't often take a full allocation for.

Will be interesting to see if our improved numbers continue when we're adrift at the bottom come November.

Wolves and West Ham will probably be unpopular as well as both of the away ends are shit (and Wolves is a shit place to go generally).

Wouldn't be surprised too if United sells slowly as it's a midweek I think.

Anyone got any insight on Brentford ticket numbers after first sales window today?

my brother in law is a groundsman there....was hoping to get a ticket for me while the wife and child get in the home end via him, but looks like it's going to be impossible to get any away tickets this season unless you've attended 5+ away games last season.

Newcastle went to general sale didn't it? I'd also imagine, United (midweek), Wolves, West Ham, Leicester at least will all go under 5 aways. Plus there's bound to be the odd one or two moved to midweek/friday/sunday etc. which will make it easier to get tickets.

Yes the popular london games will be hard to get tickets for, and the last away of the season, but it's relatively easy to build numbers up if you put in the miles on the crap games, especially if you target the early ones before it resets in January

In fact looking at the fixture list (and assuming people got newcastle on general) you could get to be close to front of the queue pretty easily by the reset by just doing

Newcastle

Man City

Wolves

Villa

Plus there's bound to be a league cup game in there somewhere too, and if we get someone like say Palace in the league cup you'll pick a ticket up easily.

Sounds about right to me, similar sized allocation to brentford but with one game more played.

Good news is it looks like non of our aways have been moved for TV in October https://www.premierleague.com/news/4076999?s=09

Yeah pleasant surprise that, expected Arsenal and Man City to move and SKY often like putting our games v Leicester on a Friday,  considering how many Championship games are on Saturday 12.30 this year we'll actually be much better off in the Prem for proper 3pm Saturday away days

Cardiff in the league cup should present a great chance for people who don't normally qualify to get to an away match.

except the same people who claim it's unfair or impossible to get away tickets for games like Brentford or Bournemouth won't go to Cardiff midweek because it's inconvenient, and then moan others are ahead of them

Anyone know, or have an idea from previous seasons, when the qualifying  ‘away ticket’ count will solely be for this season, rather than from 2023/4 ?

Normally around December time I think.

Usually flips around December. Can't quite remember if it was start of December or end of January last year

Looking at the fixture list and based roughly on other seasons, i reckon the "flip" this season will be the fulham away game on 21st December

Noise was alright but we’re so lacking in chants it’s unbelievable, basically 3-4 songs on a loop.

Has been that way for years really. At least we've got yellows back for this season 😅

Hopefully we'll some new player songs shortly given the amount of turnover there's been in the last couple of years.

I find it odd how hard it is to get some chants going these days like 'come on you reds, come on' or 'we all follow Southampton'. Easy ones which everyone knows the words to and helps break the constant owts up.

Doesn't help that over 50% of the adults in attendance are on the pervert powder.
