That was so passive. Sulemana injured. Should be losing. We don’t look at all convincing in any part of the pitch tonight.

Only positive is Gav making 2 big saves, that will do his confidence good.

At least Russell will be able to stir them up with one of his team talks that will send them out absolutely firing in the second half.

It’s gonna be the inverse-Russ half time, you just watch.

Kind of worrying that we're likely to be worse than that in the 2nd half. Brizzle just biding their time like every other team that's found out how to play RM's teams.

We had that pathetic second half on Saturday and this is the reaction. Bunch of plodders coached to play plodding football by a bloke who thinks he's smarter than he is.

If this is Russball you can keep it.

It's hard to watch.  Bristol C. are demonstrating how to play with tempo and pace - their defensive shape has barely been stretched!

Manning isn't even non league standard

It was supposedly a coup to beat Leeds to his signature. Player that fully understands Russ-ball and gets 15 goal contributions a season.

In reality, he’s a LWB that looked good in a back 5, where defending wasn’t his job and he could get up high. We play with wingers so unless you play a striker or AM on his side to afford space like we do with KWP, he is a fish out of water. You can’t do that on both wings though so not going to see the best of him.

Please sign a proper defensive LB in January.

Best chances of the half: All for City. Has coming out to clear one, make a save from another. City had a free header earlier on.

For ourselves, not so much. A Stubshot with not much power at the keeper. Downes hitting over, a ball across the box with noone gambling on it, and a block from a AA shot early on.

What had stood out was Saints bottling attacks. We tried to release Sulemana a couple of times, mainly when he was well defended. We had a decent through ball on one other occasion. But when the game stretches after we countered City's own counter, we didn't release Sule out wide, playing it safe instead. That was followed by tapping it around outside their box and seeing and choosing not to pass out to the right flank or up to the centre, when they were clearly the better ball. Safety first. Except, it just encouraged City. The visitors had the stronger half. While after a couple of through balls failed, and we'd ticked a pass it to Sule box without much conviction, we offered very little. City, like everyone else, looked to exploit the full back gaps we leave once or twice. The extra numbers we're supposed to have in the middle didn't create much, or get forward to support particularly quickly. Hoping for a better second half, if only as City might slip up, and we pinch one.

What an absolute steaming pile of shit this is, we would be losing if not for Bazunu.

Manning is an utter joke of a player, all over the place

Martin really is an idiot of a coach.

Does anyone still think we will finish above Ipswich, not a chance, only the Martin cheer leaders believe that, deluded lot

A 1 nil defeat looms with the all important 70% pointless possession

Lots have said they prefer the championship, well they will be happy because that’s where we will be for a long time

Problem for me is I see no signs of progression. We're basically the same as we were at the start of the season. Slow, boring, tippy tap gash against teams we should be battering given the disparity in resources.

There are times when we have walked the ball into a wide position in their half/final third, we have about 1, maybe 2 players in the box

no chance will Ross Stewart make a meaningful difference in this setup...no chance at all (other than a new-signing purple patch)

Or in the short term just play Bree, he was doing fine there and so much better than Manning.

If by some miracle we do go up at the end of the season, unless there is some major surgery to this team we would be absolutely slaughtered in the Premier League

That goes without saying Same goes for any team that gets promoted to the premier league

It's one of the reasons it's hard to trust RM's judgement.    Bringing a player like Manning to the Club.   At least Jones brought a reasonable defender with him.

Fuck me, you're easily pleased. He's been better of late but as one shit performance doesn't make him bad (several do), one good save doesn't make him great.

He's still very average is our football

He's had 2 shit performances this season and all the rest have been very good.

Guess which our fans focus on.

Martin is absolutely gagging at all times to revert to his more conservative style of football and bring in his favourites who have thus far underperformed. It's infuriating.

Let me enlighten you - this magic formula known only to RM is very difficult to learn and it is going to take patience and time but eventually we'll be playing teams like Man City off the park.

If they can't be arsed, I can't be arsed with insightful, informed analysis of that half.

It was a streaming pile of shitty, stinky horse manure, utter, utter crap.

Sulemena/Armstrong were gagging for some balls to be played in behind..

Sadly, it’s absolutely gutless football - nobody is willing to do anything outside “the system”.  Every game we have all the possession until the opposition realizes we offer no incisiveness and no real threat, and then they start to threaten us.

Until Martin adds an early ball dimension, instead of a 100% focus on ball retention, every game will look like this.

The wife has commandeered the TV for Eastenders. So I'll miss the first 15 minutes of the second half. Shame.

Can see her point. Isn't tonight where Nish finds out about Sukki and Eve's affair?
