I don't think you can ever not give handball when a player is stood on the goal line.

And, crucially, heading away from goal when the hand contact happened, so you couldn't argue he prevented a certain goal.

His arm didn’t block the shot, it blocked the rebound taking it away from the goal.

Good to get to HT ahead. Was a bit hairy leading up to the interval. If Saints could just be a little more clinical with chances when in control then I'd be happy.

If ever you can, it's when the ball has been saved by the keeper and is moving away from goal before hitting the defender in the hand from behind and going out for a corner.

Bit lucky to be in front. Little quality apart from KWPs goal. Che not involved and needs to be dropping off to receive the ball. Too much walking football and not enough angles being made. PNE look dangerous from corners and VAR would have given them a penalty for Charles handball. Need a big improvement in the second half if we are to take all 3 points.

We look a lot better defensibly in this game - notably we are rushing out to close down long range shots very fast. Still a bit suspect defensively on the wings/full backs vs long balls though.

He probably could have booked KWP, but wasn't a howler either. No idea why they would boo. He's been pretty steady

Couldn't agree more. Have been critical of him throughout but he's having a good game and he's managed to pass to team mates too.

 

Think Holgate has been just fine too despite being utter shit in every other appearance. 

 

KWP is class though.

Essentially bar a wonder goal from KWP it's bit of a 0-0 game. I think subs change this one - I'd be looking to get Smallbone off before he gets a red card. Switch Bree and KWP too - KWP has a wonder left foot!

Why is the female pundit saying that Shea Charles stopped a goal? Baz has literally saved it and its bouncing clear from the goal, it hits Charles' arm from behind him basically and almost bounces back into the goal. At no point has he stopped a goal bound shot and it actually helped the attackers ffs.

Would be an absolutely shocking decision to give that as a pen. How do these people get jobs as pundits?

No possibly about it, his save had sent the ball flying out of the goal and to the side, it hits charles from behind with zero notice and he almost sends it back into the goal ffs, ultimately keeping the ball in a dangerous area for longer. That pundit is an absolute moron.
