RM stated in the Leicester press conference that it's not a bad injury, and he expects him to be available again soon, and miss relatively few games because of the International Break falling after the Arsenal game.

The trouble with Stewart is that he appears to pick up regular "not bad" injuries which, accumulatively, results in a "bad" length of time out of the squad (reference the perpetual "he'll be back in two weeks" declarations over the last year...)

He needed to go out on loan. He just isn’t a Premier League player.

Just can't imagine a club willing to take that injury record on, even on loan.

Also, his rehabilitation would possibly have to be with us, for medical/ insurance purposes.

Then, until TP was back in the frame it looked as though we were going to be depending on him a bit in the middle.

that’s a relief

On the rare occasions he has played in the last 12 months he’s looked ordinary, slow and a poor touch. Obviously he hasn’t played any football for some time so maybe that’s to be expected but TP showed in twenty minutes he’s a far better prospect than Stewart. Has he had a shot yet ?

Yes. He had an effort in the away leg at WBA that took a deflection and although the keeper was already diving the other way, he somehow managed to save it with his foot.

I do hope that isn't the closest he ever gets to scoring for us.

If even Russ has given up trotting out the "2 weeks" nonsense, then it wouldn't surprise me if it's longer than that.... Do we actually know what the specific injury is this time around, or is it the usual guessing game the club play with this type of repetitive injury situation? (aka "Doing a Larios"...)

Even Augustin Delgado scored for us once.

Have to wonder if he’ll ever play for us again.

Shame as I think he could have been the striker we needed. But it remains a ludicrous gamble signing him when we did with his injury  at that point, and it’s only got worse since.

Do we know if this is a recurrence of the same injury he had when we signed him, or is it a completely unrelated injury? If the latter, have the club stated what the injury is this time? Maybe it's 'Lariositis'...?

The club have been fairly guarded over this, but this might very well now be injury Mk III or Mk IV.

Fucking useless signing and a lot of us were rightly astonished that the club spaffed £10m up the wall for a player injured for a year who was out of contract in a few months. Meanwhile Sunderland have rebuilt with the money and are competing at the top of the Champ.

It doesn’t matter whose idea it was - Rasmus or Russell, they are both the Frank Spencer of their roles. Wilcox should’ve know better than to sign it off as unlike dumb and dumber he has actually got some common sense.

Saints transfers have been utter utter utter shit.  Really sick of the amount of money that's been wasted and CONTINUES to be wasted on players not good enough.

But, this signing is the worst of the lot. I'm sure he was decent enough for Sunderland in the Championship, but why oh why did they spunk £10m or whatever is was on a player so badly crocked, when they knew he was crocked?  Absolute fucking shambles of a club, who the hell is in charge of this crap? Get rid of the lot.

Ross Stewart makes Charlie George and Darren Powell look like Wayne Bridge and JWP in terms of reliability and fitness. Fair play to him and his agent for being able to pull it off - signing on fee of a £1m at least probably and now PL wages for a bit of light training and sitting on his arse. That’s what happens when you are dealing with amateurs like Rasmus and Martin, bit more surprised at Wilcox. Top trolling and the rewards from a bank robbery but conducted entirely legally. They saw mugs coming and really took their trousers down, pants the lot.

Beats the dole where he’d otherwise be and not far off set up for life.

The fact Larios is also an SR purchase tells us everything we need to know. He’s even more invisible. So young when signed that he might be seen again I suppose.

But how do we know this? I'm not aware he has any sort of track record as a success at senior level. Yeah, he talks a very good game but there are many of those around - we've got 3 or 4 running us.

Fair point - Jason’s CV looks decent and cane across as having some substance but should never have signed off on Crock Ness and not clear how much Russell was his appointment. My sense was he completed it but it was a Rasmus idea, which would the extreme clinging onto him when any other club would have moved on by now. We will probably never know.

I'm almost certain the same is true with the hiring of Russell Martin: Rasmus's genius choice with Wilcox being the front man extolling how wonderful and perfect a pick he was, giving plausible deniability for Rasmus "Mr. Football" Ankersen, who was hiding in the background after his Jones/Selles/relegation fiasco.

I thought the same.  Mainly because there is a load of cobblers spouted from the club.

I wish Saints had had someone with the same common sence as this Club president has just shown,

Oh well maybe in the future ???.

'Palmeiras are not a medical clinic': Club president rules out Neymar move

Palmeiras president Leila has dismissed rumours linking the club with a move for Neymar, currently playing for Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

She made it clear that Palmeiras are not interested in signing the Brazilian forward.

“Neymar will not join Palmeiras, this club isn’t a medical clinic,” she said. Leila explained that the club needs players who can

contribute immediately.

“I want someone who will come to join immediately, who can play tomorrow if the manager wishes,” she added. Leila also stated

that she won’t consider signing players who are not fit to play.

It wasn’t just Stewart either in recent memory, Puel and Reed made a similar dickhead blunder although not quite as bad as the Stewart purchase on Sofiane Boufal - wasn’t fit until October and never really caught up. At least he had ability in flashes. Whether Ross Stewart is SFC calibre or not I don’t think we will ever know.

He might have been before all the injuries and basically a two year break from the game.  His chances of making a successful comeback must be tiny now very few players make it back to the top consistently after so long out.

Given Legos apparent lackadaisical approach to players fitness and training, maybe the new regime can make inroads and get this bloke fully fit. There appears to be a difference between being Martin fit and premier league fit. How many muscle injuries are caused by not being at absolute peak fitness.

He’s another sad indictment of our terrible transfers over the last few years

with him, Onacachu, Sulemana, Edozie, Bretaron-Diaz, Archer, Mara and Orsic you’ve got nearly £100m of attackers there signed in the the last 3 seasons who have made little to no impact at all.

I think we are better off pulling names out of a hat when it comes to buying attacking players.

That list is absolutely atrocious.

Everyone involved in the clubs recruitment for the last few years should be fired into the sun.

Until we can recruit properly, we will be going nowhere but downhill. I hope they are addressing this.

It’s the who’s who of players not to sign isn’t it. Archer possibly has something about him, he seems to be a good finisher Onachu seems to be popular at the moment because he’s a bit of a comedy figure but that’s what we’ve got for £100m people. A comedy figure, one who might have something and a pile of shit

We didn't miss out on Gakpo and Ramos by much. If either of those had gotten across the line we'd never have heard of Onuachu/Sulemana/Orsic, and only possibly heard of BBD/Archer/Stewart after selling Gakpo or Ramos for big money (even then we probably would've aimed higher).

There's not much wrong with the scouting, it's the final decision-makers who leave a lot to be desired.
