The issue with a project manager like Martin is that there is no real track record of success for us to hold on to. If you look at Spurs with Ange, yes he hasn't managed at that level before, but he's got a track record of implementing a style of play and delivering success. Martin doesn't have that, so it's hard to know whether we are just going to end up a team that passes the ball around and go nowhere with it, or end up with a fluid sucessful style. At the moment the signs are a tad worrying

We were never going to go the whole season without a 'bad day at the office' here and there. The trouble with Saints historically though is that bad days often turn into bad weeks/months. Here's hoping this is a one off rather than the start of a trend....

Mara trying hard to impersonate a striker. And failing hard.

he ain't a right winger. Why is he playing there? He is having to track players back to our own byeline. He doesn't strike me as a player that does that naturally.

The expectation for the season, with our resources, is promotion. We started strong enough to look to the top 2. Martin will have to step up to achieve this as, as you say he just doens't have that track record. This is an excellent chance for him to step up to that level.

He did say there were going to be off days, and this is definietely one of them. We will get better. But we can all see how Sunderland have dismantled his set up. Everyone will be lookign to do that. And he will have to adapt accordingly.
