We are not finishing top two with this amount of goals conceded.

Be lucky not to finish bottom two if we keep this up.

We'll be lucky to be top half, never mind top two..! There are much better teams to come than Sunderland.

Surely he cant be worse than Bazunu..

In his last season there he was really poor. He made exactly the same errors McCarthy was chastised for. Near posts goals, poor decision, handling errors...

Sunderland keeper fucks up royally and gets away with it.

all the championship keepers make these errors, but we only care about our own one.

Honestly, Russel Martins managerial record is nothing special. Nothing to suggest he'd do well here.

Early days but should we be that surprised if this continues?

The issue with a project manager like Martin is that there is no real track record of success for us to hold on to. If you look at Spurs with Ange, yes he hasn't managed at that level before, but he's got a track record of implementing a style of play and delivering success. Martin doesn't have that, so it's hard to know whether we are just going to end up a team that passes the ball around and go nowhere with it, or end up with a fluid sucessful style. At the moment the signs are a tad worrying

Feel good factor is back, so in typical Saints fashion I predict a meek 3-0 loss to being us back down to earth.

🥲

Three was optimistic.

So is this what it is? ANOTHER stubborn manager who will refuse to learn and be system before players rather than finding a formation and system that suits who we have.

You can't have Janny B and Massy H passing in their own box.

We were never going to go the whole season without a 'bad day at the office' here and there. The trouble with Saints historically though is that bad days often turn into bad weeks/months. Here's hoping this is a one off rather than the start of a trend....

Mara trying hard to impersonate a striker. And failing hard.

he ain't a right winger. Why is he playing there? He is having to track players back to our own byeline. He doesn't strike me as a player that does that naturally.

The expectation for the season, with our resources, is promotion. We started strong enough to look to the top 2. Martin will have to step up to achieve this as, as you say he just doens't have that track record. This is an excellent chance for him to step up to that level.

He did say there were going to be off days, and this is definietely one of them. We will get better. But we can all see how Sunderland have dismantled his set up. Everyone will be lookign to do that. And he will have to adapt accordingly.

This is on Martin … complete ignores the art of defending especially in this league.. he was the same at mk dons and swansea.. t

we shouldn’t be so high up the field when we get turned around it’s basic !!

Hopefully he learns quickly
